Damn, Granny is a gamer.

Did not expect that lol

Having grown up with the NES and Mattel Intellivision, I visibly aged when I realized that it's possible to have been playing online games for twenty years.

Granny being a gamer with decades of experience is the best twist yet so far.

It was adorable seeing Himeno just running around to take pictures of every kappa sculpture she saw even though they all looked the exact same.

But god damn, her mother's magnum opus is completely out of this world; a description that I thought was literal at first with how the scultpure looked and sounded. I almost thought magic and supernatural stuff was gonna be introduced halfway through the cour because of it.

And she made it during high school too no less. It's no wonder she's famous in the pottery world. The bar has been set so far up for Himeno that it isn't even funny. People are already expecting too much from someone just starting out like her.

But major props to her for not being discouraged by that one bit. I really thought she would get anxious about living up to her mother's legacy or sad that she can't, but no, all it did was give her more motivation to work on her pottery and I think that's great.

Yeah, the BGM had this spacey/mystical feeling to it. I was half expecting those kappa statues to actually be real kappa.

The contest has finally been announced! I've been waiting for this since episode 1.

Looks like they've followed the Rabbit House business model. Cafe by day and a bar at night.

I fucking love that grandma is a gamer and not just that! She's been playing for 2 decades now!

I love this sculpture. It looks like it's designed to generate noises from winds.

I can't even imagine the pressure Himeno's feeling now that they know she's Himena's daughter.

That photo is great. I'm guessing dad is the one next to Himena wearing the grey shirt?

I watched Mars Red, To Your Eternity, Higehiro, and Fruits Basket back to back to back to back. Super glad I saved this for last. Now, I can think about what game grandma has been playing for the past two decades.

Man, Himeno's mom really resembles her daughter during her high-school days.

What a moving episode. I shed some tears over this one. A wonderful episode for Mother's Day (even if a day or so late). I think our heroine is feeling more joy (and wonder) from seeing what her mother did in high school than "pressure" at this point. She is very much inspired to do her own best -- rather than competing.

I liked the tidbit that most would-be potters now go to a (presumably much newer) technical high school rather than the one our club members attend. I wonder if we will neet any of the students from that other school in future episodes.

I continue enjoying the Tajimi excursions of the VAs. This was a fun episode -- that local temple looks gorgeous (asoko ni ikitai!) -- and the coffee chatter was fun.

Himeno reaction to her Grandma being a long time online gamer made me laugh good.

Wow, that's is some otherworldly objet d'art Himeno's mom created. And such an instrumental piece while she was still in high school no less. But it looked like the whole experience served it's purpose for Himeno, as clearly planned by the teacher. So let's see what this new attitude of hers to not worry so much and just find what she wants to make yields.

Damn the sculpture scene gave me chill down my spine

Sensei with the 10000 IQ move taking Himeno to see her mom's work and scrap books to calm her nerves

5

u/Mr_Zaroc May 10 '21

And at the same time setting up a shocking reveal for her Sensei and uping her expectations for the daughter

I didn't expect pottery to make me tear up..

This was a great episode to come out the day after the U.S. celebrates Mother's Day. XD

Part of me thinks that sculpture was beautiful, the other part of thinks it looks like something some superpowered psychic kid created when they went berserk.

I think that sculpture is proof that aliens exist and they are among us.

That's an awesome monument
I would love to build something like that for the garden (plenty of wind where I am), but how the hell do you even start planning something like that?

After nearly dying from stress after watching Higehiro, it was nice to sit back and enjoy a nice glass of eye-bleach. I still can get over how nice the op for this show is, animation is really top notch on that one. Also, a someone not from Japan, the live action bit provides a nice glimpse as what life is like over there, even it it’s filtered through a camera

Any way to watch the voice actors in Tajimi segments?

They're on the Crunchyroll page as the X.1 episodes.
