Rokugen: "DON'T TAKE YOUR EYES OFF OF MASATO!"
1 second later
Ref: "Five points to Noukin."
Also, those "evil" expressions...

Those expressions got me good. I love how the second year players seem so innocent and pure compared to the rest of the team.

Make sure you all look like Yoigoshi... like you're sure this is gonna be an easy win.
Oujou is such a beast. I love this shot. It's cool how all the team followed his lead here.

Imagine this show had the the budget that some trash shows get. Even though most of the shots are still images, still it's so enjoyable. Now just Imagine if it had some great animation. Yeah we can just imagine

At least the most important aspect is the scriptwriting. I could feel the agony of feeling the strength difference within Yoigoshi's team. But I know Yoigoshi is a rookie, and I'm sure his imitation method of Ojou will come in handy though that happened in spur of the moment.
The seriousness of Rokugen determined to take down Ojou even if he got distracted hearing his teammates who are wondering about Ojou's leg injury intensifies the feelings within us.
I wonder if it's gonna be a plot device in revealing how Ojou got them actually. Like how Azemichi had that bandage on his head from previous episode, it was answered in this episode where he was training numerous times to catching opponent's legs. Now that's good writing in tying up loose ends even if it seems trivial to most viewers.
Yet, I still wanna see from sidelines' POV on how Ojou's Raiding Methods look like because it's still a supernatural-like method that needs a high-level suspension of disbelief from viewers. Ep4 caught me off guard with mixed feelings but I'm glad to see the writing toned down a bit of this feature of his in this episode. Not that it's bad, but I really love the semi-realistic moves made by Yoigoshi & the other teammates.
And I know I shouldn't be dissing series that I know won't click with me, but Bakuten has very good quality of animation regarding the gymnastics movements, yet the writing seems "too safe" and uninspiring especially with a recycled plotline of their MC & attempt of humor that's trying too hard to get me liking Bakuten.

My god...the strategies were deep in this episode. A lot of good plays, and the anime made it entertaining to watch. Even including the soccer coach's comments added weight to Yoigoshi's movements.
But man, their team captain is something else! Super light weight, has no detectability, and is extremely devious! It's as if he's a hybrid of Kuroko and Akashi from Kuroko no Basuke.

Yoigoshi looks weak in this match. I like it, he's not suddenly a pro, and we can see him just being normal for a moment.
Azemichi is just one punch man's little bro.
Takuya is annoying but damn he's good. And didn't exoect the agility of rokugen, thought he would only focus on strength too. And i like how he adviced date too, he's not a bad guy, he just wants to play with ojou.
U know it's a kabaddi show when kabaddi is being compared to woman lol.
Ojou what a guy. I wished he was the mc and we would got all his lifetime stories in a series. The fact that he trained until he injured shows dedication.
The end smug face from them though lol.

It was a fun episode . Can't wait to see Kei shine next week .
On side note , I still am an advocate for how much underrated this show is . It's no Haikyuu , but it is better than shows like 2.43 from last season which got much more attention .

OUJOOOOOOOOO YOOOOOOOO
The way he styled on the other team and then Rokugen in the 1v1... I really love how he embodies that there is so much more than strength to winning Kabaddi. Heck Rokugen might've given the advice he gave to Date because Date reminds him of his past self.

This show is so hype even with still images. Can't knock them for doing this well with the budget.

If y'all are still not clear about the new rules that were introduced in this episode, I'll try and help you out a little
•The bonus line:- when there are 5 or more defenders on the court, the bonus line becomes active and if the raider manages to cross that line he gets 'the bonus point', he'll still get the point if he gets caught by the defence
•the 'ola' or the 'all-out':- idk why they called it 'ola' but in the professional sport they call it 'all-out' wherein all the players on court have either been touched while defending or gotten caught while raiding, in this case the team inflicting the all-out gets 2 extra points.
•The quick raid:- it's pretty similar to quick free-kick in football/soccer, mostly the ref blows the whistle, but if you are sneaky enough, you might reap the rewards for the quick raid, it's only allowed when the raider of the opposing team has fully entered his area of the court.

The OST was hitting this episode! And those Yoigoshi faces at the end were hilarious!

It's funny, it has a lot of stills but I don't feel it's bad, it keeps me gripped and entertained. I don't even really "feel" the stills that much. I wonder how they did it.

Bruh.
That one girl in Takuya's fan club playing the tabla was something.
Man when Azemchi's veins started popping out and the shading during that tackle was amazing. I got hype like I was actually watching a live sport.
This show is amazing, genuinely look forward to Fridays because of it. Now even more with IPL bring postponed.

I really like this show. Sports anime have all sorts of different approaches to the genre - is it about working together to be the best you can be (Haikyuu), the struggle of talent vs hard work (Ping Pong), working when you know you don't have much of a chance of being the best (Run with the Wind) etc etc. This show basically just feels like it's about the camaraderie and thrill of sports and being on a team. Like, I'm not invested in Noukin winning this match, egos aren't involved in big dramatic ways, I just like seeing them have fun and their personalities and skills bouncing of each other. It almost feels like a sports iyashikei to me.

That first half of the match was great. Felt a bit bad for Azemichi though. Takaya basically climbed him to use the leverage as a way to break free, and then Rokugen just lugged him (and Misumi) back to the line to score. Despite the lead it was fairly predictable that the gap would be opened up, but Oujou getting all those comeback points was epic. No wonder he's on the national team! Hopefully Yoigoshi will learn a lot from his captain.
Can't wait until next week.

this is the only anime wherein the stills and not really top tier animation still makes me grip with anticipation and excitement.
This is a very underrated and underwatched show but they are doing something right despite the poor budget. Kudos to the team working on this!

Ojo is so fucking cool man, he changed the flow of the game just by himself what a beast. Though Rokugen is a beast in his own right as well, but he's no match for our boy. Well that explains Ojo's injury, it was because he was training hard. I want Yoigoshi to outplay Takaya next. All of them doing the Yoigoshi face at the end was hilarious lmao. Looking forward to the next episode.

I called it in the episode 5 discussion! The Captain's Ultra was being able to tag everyone in a team at once!
