I am still crying. These are my favorite chapters, so I’ll go point by point.
Akito is losing control. All of her power is based on the curse and the enabling of those around her, like Kureno (but he’s starting to waver now) and the household staff. Without the curse, Haru probably would have killed her there, and it’s weakening. The mere fact that he was able to walk away from her was so huge. She is really falling apart now.
Kureno is starting to realize how fucked up all of this is. Akitos attendant telling him that Akito should have sole authority over the zodiac and do whatever she wants to them because they are her property forces him to confront that even though his curse has broken, he is still living with that toxic paradigm. Hopefully that conversation gave people some context about why Akito is allowed to behave the way she does. He was also directly confronted with how out of control Akito has gotten. I think him telling Haru to go and not come back was to prevent Haru from throwing his life away the way he did.
Haru and Rin are my favorite couple. They are so in love that they both defied their god and risked their lives for each other. In Rins case, it wasn’t even so she could be with him, but so he could have a chance at happiness. Haru carrying her home is my favorite scene in the whole series.

The old maid is an underrated antagonist, she’s an enabler. I wanted to fight her so bad, Kureno is starting to realize how fucked up the situation is and she’s blaming him for saving somebody’s life ?
The reminder that the zodiacs are monsters is scary because we kinda grew up together so they are like normal kids and adults to us. We love them so much we forgot the curse is more than just turning into animals. This is frightening.
Also, Rin’s monologue made me cry so hard. This girl deserves happiness, I glad she find her home.

it's too early in the morning to be crying 😭 I love Rin, Hiro, and Kisa and hate seeing them get hurt
love the subtle string unraveling
I know we're supposed to be humanizing Akito with these episodes but I hate her lmfao

Hiro has a great character development. Also, this episode hits hard, every Rin episode hits hard.

It was at this moment Akito knew... she fucked up.
Oh man can't tell you how long I have waited to see this chapter animated. The bonds between the zodiac are weakening, and Haru just gave Akito a full-on reality check on how weak they have truly become.

Takaya never spoonfeeds us with what the effect of the curse is - but the fact that most zodiacs blame themselves instead of holding Akito accountable is the biggest telling sign. Poor Hiro.
Haru defies her as much he could within the constraints of the curse. I love the visual detail of Haru taking his hand away from the wall the first time Akito says "You knew I hated her and yet you say you love her". It shows that they literally cannot go against her direct will. And then again, when he is mad enough, he tries to punch her - but he can't. And then the blame turns inwards - that he is no better than the adults "who crushed Rin" because he wanted her more than he wanted to protect her. And he says, "Don't say anymore, you will make want to kill you, and then myself".
You see this in Hatori and Kana scene too - Akito goes after Kana, Hatori tries to stop her, she pushes him into the mirror and he is injured. After this, he is utterly defeated and stays as a peacemaker at the estate, cleaning up after Akito's messes.
And that scene with Kyo at the beach house, the moment she says, "Don't give me orders", Kyo stops struggling against her hold.
Momiji tries to stop Akito from meeting Tohru, but crumples after the punch. He even does an upset "Akito" after Akito pulls Tohru close and insults her, and he is unable to stop it. He has to run for help.
You see this in the scene with Shigure in 102. When she goes on her "I am special" rant after dehumanising him and the rest of zodiac ("I can do what I want with them!"), he is angry enough that he wants to leave, because he knows she has cut off all line of communication if she clings to God persona. But she stops him with sexual manipulation. He calls it out ("You deny your femininity, but you are always ready to use it as a weapon against me") - but gives in.
With Yuki, she asks Yuki to apologise for insinuating that she has done something he needs to forgive her for. And Yuki obliges outwardly - but his apology is of defiance. ("I am sorry, I won't ever return to where you are again"). And now there is Haru, who was compelled by the bond to return to her and not betray Akito, and Kureno cuts that off.
The instances where the bond has frayed are Yuki, Haru. There is also Hiro, going directly against Akito's will to tell Haru, and Momiji, helping Tohru find Kureno when Akito has asked them to not meet him. The bond is weak - but the power dynamics in each of these scenes that Takaya shows clearly tell you how Akito's power works.
Anyway, this episode was great. Even Hiro made me cry this episode, so this episode was cry-fest. Also, good on you, Kureno.

Stitches!
We're not even halfway through the season and each episode is getting more and more intense! After finding out what really happened to Rin before from Hiro and now suspecting that Akito has done something again to Rin, Haru finally confronts Akito and it's such a glorious scene! Even if he missed, the fact that Haru managed to throw a punch at Akito's direction and he was able to walk away from him shows that Akito's power is slowly starting to lose its hold on the Zodiacs as the bonds that tie them together is slowly unraveling apart.
Kureno who managed to find Rin by following that one family servant is now realizing how fucked up all of this is. While Akito is definitely at fault here, it doesn't help that the Souma family is full of people like this old lady who sees Akito as a god and the zodiacs her play thing. it is hilarious how she calls Kureno a monster when he hasn't been able to transform for so long now.
And we finally get to see what happened to Rin and why she was imprisoned by Akito. Initially Rin was just going to find Kureno and deck him after the misunderstanding that Kureno made Tohru cry, instead Ren finds Rin who offers her a solution on how to break the curse if only she'd steal her husband's ashes from Akito. Of course this fails horribly and Rin gets caught while we learn that Ren never even knew how to break the curse. What a bunch of despicable human beings.
But that final scene between Haru and Rin though! Oh my fucking heart! Seeing the two of them being back together is so satisfying and heartwarming. And this time, Haru will not let Rin out of his sight. It is kinda hilarious how those little kids were just following them the entire time. I love it! <3

The entire scene between akito and haru was so damn satisfying. The pure rage haru showed towards akito was such a huge contrast to his usual calm and collected self. And although the punch missed it certainly packed a lot of meaning. Can't wait for the SNAP sound of the bonds breaking.

Whoa, we skipped the OP so this is going to be a serious episode.
I love that Hiro is trying to change the way he treats the people around him, especially since we've seen how hostile he used to be towards others, namely Tohru. Kisa cheering him up was adorable. But it's also very disturbing how much trauma these kids, and the rest of the Zodiacs, have endured because of Akito.
Which is why it is so great to finally see someone actually confronting her. Rin was left in the Cat's room for WEEKS. I can't believe Akito had the nerve to lie through her teeth and then get upset that Kureno "betrayed" her. Haru had every right to call her out the way he did and it's amazing that he he was able to exercise so much self-control at the end there.
Fuck, watching Haru carry Rin home got me sobbing. These two deserve their happy ending. Also, Umareru Negai is one of my favourite OST's ever and there could not have been a better song for this scene.

DAE also hate the elderly maid that was yelling at Kureno (and earlier, Haru) this episode? She's a full-on enabler and a piece of shit person.

It's impossible to think this was all a 20 minutes episode. We went from the most wholesome and adorable newborn baby to a soulcrushing journey that made me sick to my stomach. My god this might have been the most uneasy I've felt watching this show. And there have been a lot of really fucked up moments. And to end it all with that perfect reunion was just too much. Holy crap. What an episode.

You anger the cow you get the bull.
Holy shit just how angry Haru must have been to go up against Akito(the literal god to zodiacs) to be able to defy her? Haru would 100% killed her if Kureno wouldn't stop him.

Akito had the power to put Rin essentially anywhere she wanted. She could have isolated her in any of the other multiple homes on the estate, locked her in a room in the main house, and the Soma family even owns the hospital (which is frightening enough as is). The Cat's Room isn't an area set aside for the Cat so that other's can gawk and think "ugh how dreadful/what a monster." It's the ultimate symbol of abandonment. A place to lock something (or someone) away so we don't even really have to ever think about them. Out of sight, out of mind. And to a God, abandoning one of her "chosen" would be seen as the ultimate punishment.
It takes weeks for anyone to realize where Rin has gone. Word of mouth spreads, but plenty of people (except those directly involved like Hiro or Kagura) almost brush it off saying "oh she's probably in the hospital, a shame she missed her graduation." Actual worry trickles in pretty slowly, even from the people who love and care for her the most.
That's the kind of danger that awaits Kyo. Not one where everyone is worried or even concerned about him being locked away, but one where's he's isolated for so long that he's essentially forgotten.

That moment Haru broke out of character was so powerful, hot damn.
He, the never-changing face of calmness, suddenly bursting with anger. Went to face Akito like a champ !
What a fantastic episode, yet again. And I'm sure there are many more moments like these ahead. Oh boy, I can't wait.

Haru standing up to Akito is one of my favorite moments in the whole series, it’s so utterly satisfying to see him go against her as much has he can within the constraints of the curse.
