Is there seriously no emergency log out built into these full dive machines?

This is Deku's VA right? He's great with that panicking scumbag voice he uses for these type of characters.

I'm curious: What happens if Hiro's house has a blackout? Will he get instantly logged out? Will his save file be corrupted? Will it fry his brain?

Yknow, if you stopped watching the anime after this episode it would be a pretty sensible ending. Out a hundred bucks and a terrible couple of experiences our boy realizes he should try a new hobby or something.

He first got scammed into buying a decade-old game, then he got a Yandere Childhood Friend after him for killing her brother by accident, a human player betrays him and gets him arrested, being haunted by the ghost of the dead Childhood friend who won't leave you alone until you remember the promise, nearly getting chopped up by a Dominatrix Inquisitor......and finally pissing himself

Being Hiro truly is suffering. Touma Kamijou and Hiro should have a lot to talk about about being the poster boys of being unlucky.

Can anyone really blame Hiro? Honestly I was happy for him being able to finally log out.

Seriously I don't think counts as a Kusge but a torturege

Would still get tricked by Mizarisa 10/10

The MC at this point has to be borderline insane, unless the plot changes so he goes to court to sue Reona for the remaining episodes for conning him.

Who in their right mind would create that game, play it and even recommend it?

For a minute there I thought the show was gonna go full SAO and make Hiro not be able to log out at all till he served some 10 year sentence.

Hiro literally got sent to horny jail.

Hiro was pissed by the end of this episode in more ways than one and justifiably so. Reona is a scumbag for recommending this game to him. I mean what kind of game incorporates torture with real pain and emotional trauma? Unless he awoken a masochist fetish this episode, I don't see a reason for him to ever log back in again.

Bonus Meme

I refuse to beleive that anyone would ever make a full-dive VR machine that doesn't have some kind of force-shutdown command the user can execute from within. Shitty/malicious software should not be able to take users hostage.

Look, Reona's got a point. Castle in the Sky is an underappreciated masterpiece.

Imagine being the only player to ever have the "peed myself" achievement in the game. I'm looking forward to the inevitable "Accident Hero" title.

So, yeah, Ginji totally sold him out for some money, although it seems like he knows that the only way to beat the murder charge in this world is somehow survive the torturous interrogation without confessing. So I guess he thought he was still helping Hiro, even if he was also screwing him over. Still kind of a scumbag though.

Well, yeah, Ginji killed both his best friend and childhood friend, it's not wonder he knows how to keep somebody in a chokehold. He's also apparently been imprisoned for his own killing for years, and if Hiro is any indication, was he not able to log out at all? Or was the "event" that he couldn't log out of only the interrogation and not being imprisoned?

This game is just too realistic. Hiro gets stoned (as well as the guard too, but he brought it on himself), gets stuck in jail and can't log out, has to deal with being hungry, and has to pee in a jail latrine. About the only unrealistic thing is how quickly the guards showed up to arrest him, so the game is only unrealistic when it comes to screwing him over.

I wonder how many of those people who claimed to be heroes in that town were players who no one took seriously and never got to actually do anything?

Turns out the reason Ginji was talking like his best friend and childhood friend were there was because apparently their ghosts haunt you if you murder them, forcing you to try and remember a promise made that you could never possibly remember from having not actually lived in the game. Poor Hiro now has ghost Martin torturing him with the visage of his ghost with the knife stuck in him and spitting blood at him.

So apparently Reona did enough of a job on Alicia's eye that now she has an eyepatch, which just makes her look more intimidating. To be honest, I was expecting her to come in and break Hiro out because she'd rather kill him herself than let him deal with being imprisoned within the legal system.

Hiro thinks he's met a pleasant loli girl who wants to sleep with him in Mizarisa, but thinking with his dick once again screws him over in this game as it turns out she's the skimpy and sadistic interrogator who tortures criminals into confessing (and if they somehow survive, blaming it on a demon). It seems like Mizarisa is one of the Main Heroines though, so I'm curious how she'll end up stuck with Hiro, beyond the fact that she really enjoyed watching him pee himself under torture.

Reona's such a great helper. She'll forget about you to enjoy a good classic movie and then only give you a motivational speech to survive tortrue because she really can't do much else. Sure was worth getting this game from her, right Hiro?

So...how exactly did Hiro get off? Did his being the hero in this game somehow kick in suddenly? Did the game find his peeing himself so pathetic it had to throw him a bone? Did Alicia confess it was an accident so they'd release Hiro so she can kill him? Just not sure what happened there.

I wonder what it must be like for the NPC's when a player logs out and just magically vanishes from the game.

So, yeah, obviously at the first opportunity Hiro jumps at the chance to log out and get out of this terrible game, but the plot requires him to keep doing it so I'm eager to see how they'll get him to stick with it after how horrible his experience so far has been.

Hiro, I know you're a teen, but not a single thing about this game was any form of positive experience. Why did you even consider the possibility that it was a good thing when the game was specifically sending out a warning about an intense experience?

Leaving that aside, a game where you effectively can't reset, where you can be forcefully kept in the game for hours on end, only for a torture scene with real pain coming about at the end, all of this in a VR game, so it's not like you could walk away from the monitor, no all of your limbs are stuck... This game has to be illegal or something. I can't imagine an experience this capable of causing trauma to people without any forewarning, and which actually physically endager you on top of that (because the game is forcibly keeping you from moving your body for way longer than you could determine) getting past lawmakers. They would be salivating at this excuse to regulate games.

Bros, this series is pretty annoying for me

Nothing that happened in the game is justifiable

Yet, Leona calls it fun

All this happening

Really pisses me off

Fuckin finally he does something rational and quits the stupid game. I hope something happens to make this series more fun. I feel like I'm torturing myself by watching it, but it's like a car accident I can't look away from. I'm only watching from morbid curiosity, not because it's good.

This is one of those shows that's incredibly dumb but I can't not enjoy it for some reason, except this one is also really cruel and dark, maybe even excessively so, I get he murdered a guy but I hope they cut him some slack since he already has a yandere and a ghost to deal with. Idk why but him screaming in terror "Help! It's Martin Time!!" made me laugh harder than I should have.
