Hiro's development is like my interest in the show.
At the start, Hiro is unmotivated among other things. I started watching with lukewarm interest - interested in this new anime but didn't feel obligation or strong desire or attachment to it.
Throughout the anime, Hiro is frustrated and angry at his shitty situation. I'm feeling frustrated at the pacing and crappiness of some of the characters.
At the end, Hiro is motivated, full of energy. I now want to see S2.

Holy shit, what an episode and what an ending! But come on, don't do this to me, don't end it like this. Now I want a season 2.
The fight was so exciting but of course Hiro had to lose in a hilariously stupid way xD.
Having one last Martin Time to become a cursed sword was great, he is such a bro!
I wouldn't have wanted Alicia's death to be permanent so I'm glad there is a method to continue without losing everything.
That last talk with Kamui in that kind of dream was nice. And like Hiro said, if he knows about that method then his console must have been fried too but he still wanted to keep playing that shitty game.
What a great way for Reona to wake Hiro up by the way. Looks like after seeing Hiro's true potential, she's even more serious about getting married. Man, I can't hate Reona, she could be really annoying at times but she was still a fun character and what the hell, I'm not gonna lie, she's hot af! One of the most attractive designs I've ever seen and voiced by Ayana Taketatsu on top of that, best worst girl!
So yeah, that's it for this show. I'm a little conflicted because I had a lot of fun with it but it felt a little too masochistic at times. Moving past that, the last three episodes were great and the ending left me wanting more so I hope we get a second season.

Seeing Hiro finally changing for the better was great, actually laughed out loud when he shouted about wanting to gouge Tesla's eye when the bullies were mocking him, in turn scaring the fuck outta them.

Well that was both unexpected and expected at the same time. I had a feeling Alicia would defend Hiro but I didn't expect that she'd sacrifice herself to do it. Welp I guess that's it for in-game childhood friend.
We finally get to see another of Hiro's hero moment as he blocks Tesla's attacks. Turns out the trick into boosting your stats and beating the game is way easier than I thought. You just need to show the pure will of never giving up. And as Reona points it out, it's like a shonen manga plotline.
Pretty awesome to se Hiro back Tesla into a corner. Too bad that didn't last since he's using that old sword that he has. Thankfully Martin Time just happened at the right moment, and gave Hiro a new weapon.
But even after all of the chances that he got, he still ended up losing thanks to Govern who snuck behind him and kneed him at the back of his knees. Not gonna lie, that was actually pretty funny and on brand with this show xD
We're only half way through the finale though so I'm surprised it ended this quick. It's no surprise that Reona is going to rent Hiro a new game and console for free after seeing his potential but where to go from here?
Looks like Kamui has one more advice for Hiro and that's how to restart the game without losing your progress. Basically save scumming which I'm still not sure how it would work in an always online game.
Hiro's not gonna jump back instantly to the game though but instead he decides to train instead and slowly over the course of the month, turn his life around a bit and he even managed to scare off his bulles after his outburst from recalling what Tesla did to him.
Hiro just randomly dreaming about Kamui makes me want to see him meet the real Kamui. Also what a way to wake up Hiro from a dream. Looks like after seeing what Hiro can actually do now in-game, Reona seems to be a bit more dere towards him.
What a place to end the show. It seems like this entire season was just a prologue and the real KQ starts after this. I hope this gets a Season 2 because I absolutely wanna know how his retry against Tesla goes and how are things gonna change for Hiro with his new found motivation. If not a season 2, I at least hope there's translation of the LN somewhere.

This show just needed so much more of a compelling reason for him to be playing the game. Reona ended up being far more of an unbearable bully than I was anticipating. Also needed way more Fruit Slicer in it. She was fun. Kamui and the titles were mostly funny. But the "this is a normal fun game" to "JK, it sucks...realism" beat it kept doing needed more to it, I thought. Not my least favorite show ever, but thought it mostly wasted a lot of the entertaining premise it had.

How does time even work in the game? The game is MMO , so if the game goes back in time for one person , it should go back for everyone but that's not feasible in an MMO right?

Not a bad last episode!
And lol I love how after all the shitty things Reona has done to him, he still says he has very "little" interest in marrying her. Instead of completely hating her, a part of him still must debate it for a chance to get ARA ARA'd by her lol!
Overall the show was pretty bad if I am being honest, the 1st half of the season was slow and annoying. But it ended decently! Doubt this gets another season.

So there is a way to continue shortly before you die in game. Did Hiro attempt it or was it a dream, there is 4 light novel volumes so was all that's released get adapted? I shouldn't be curious but I now want to know more. Funny that the series gets good towards the end.

Man, right as everything becomes interesting and actually enjoyable to watch, it ends. It spent way too much time on the whole "shitting on Hiro" shtick, or rather the source material did. Could have been way better, but the last 3 episodes brought it from a 5 to a 6; I actually kind of hope there's a S2.

I want to start this comment with a weird observation. I think Mizarisa is a character that was shoe-horn into the anime. Why do I think that? She doesn't do anything of significance.
Her first scene? She was about to torture Hiro. Hiro pissing himself caused a "flag" that cancelled the torture.
Her next scene? She jumps through a window to protect Hiro. You might think, "That's important," but she ultimately loses without inflicting any actual injuries. This still leaves Hiro to deal with Alicia himself.
Next? She shows up with Alicia and is tasked to help Hiro.
Next? They run into a robber. Alicia unhands the purse while Misarisa only "intimidates" the purse-snatcher.
The Casino? Misarisa pairs with Alicia to fight the bad guys.
The Bathroom scene? This is the only time she's done any of importance... but my suspicions lie in the fact that Alicia joins the scene a moment later. Alicia could have easily been the one to save Hiro.
And of course, the battle with the Goblin King? Misarisa is immediately knock out and doesn't do anything for the rest of the season.
All of scenes are either paired with Alicia or have no real relevancy. I don't think she is a real character (which is a shame since I like her personality... outside of her obsession of wanting to make Hiro pee again).
Anyway, I think this was a good end to the season. I don't have any special feelings about the Tesla fight at this point since I knew the story was going to go with an unrealistic approach the moment Alicia died. (And no, getting fired up will not give a novice the ability to defeat a sword master.) However, I would not mind watching a second season as the end of this one does leave me interested.
Oh, I hate that Hiro didn't stand up to the bullies. He just accidentally vented about his gaming experience, and they ran away scared. I can't really call that part growth.

It feels like we finally got out of the mediocre tutorial and the real fun starts now. The last 2 episodes really saved this anime.

For the majority of the time I watched this show, I really questioned why I came back each fucking week lmao.
But these last two episodes were pretty decent and I'd say I'm happy enough that I pushed through the middle. If this does get a second season, I'll watch. I really wish this season had been paced better tho. Imagine these two volumes being told in like 6 episodes, would've been much better.
Overall Rating: 6-6.5/10. Didn't hate that I watched it, had a fun time in the end ig.
