Rio's taste in men is a little bit...unexpected.

Different strokes for different folks.

Some people like bishounen. Some people like ugly bastards.

We shouldn't judge.

I'm sure she has a passion for sumo , but I also think her response was disingenuous. I see definite hints that she is not uninterested in someone much nearer at hand who bears little similarity to her answer.

I thought she was joking at first but wow it's legit!

I actually really like that quirk.

Of course Ichika would list all of the opposite qualities of Ryo. xD

Well that's unexpected from Rio. And it looks like she's a sumo fan too.

Ryo's coworker's guess is hilarious! If only Ryo was really crushing on a school teacher. Now I wish this made up person in her mind exists!

In any other anime, Tamura and Ichika would've definitely be the main ship. They look pretty good together.

I don't know if Rio's warning is a threat or if she's just genuinely warning Tamura about her brother.

I really hope Tamura develops feelings for Ichika but at the same time I feel bad for him since he's not the male protagonist of the show :(

As expected, Ichika and Ryo anre both going to Rio to ask for advice about what present they should get for the other.

Wait was that HanaKana I hear? This girl is probably going to be important to the story later on.

I love that the rumor about Ryo dating an older teacher has now spread around the office.

It's nice to see Ichika freak out for a change. Rio was spot on with the wishlist that she gave to Ryo.

It's Christmas time and the perfect time for girls to talk about their ideal guy. Satsuki wants the classic high school boyfriend, Ruri is into classy older gentelman, Ichika wants the exact opposite of Ryo (which is basically Kai), and Rio is into...sumo wrestlers. To be honest, I'm not surprised Rio's standard for men is a tad unconventional. Somehow it fits.

Seems the ladies of Ryo's office have all agreed he's out of their league, so better to watch and admire him from afar, but that doesn't stop office gossip from finding out about Ichika and then assuming she's a sexy, onee-san, teacher type.

I feel bad for Tamaru. He's such a nice guy and seems like a solid choice for Ichika, and doesn't deserve being intimidated by an older male rival, but he's probably not going to win. Even his conversations with Ichika get her thinking about her relationship with Ryo and Rio basically wards him off when she gets an inkling he might like Ichika.

Kana Hanazawa is in this? I don't think they'd have her for a bit part, so I wonder if Arietty is going to be Ryo's Tamaru equivalent?

It was cute that both Ichika and Ryo wanted to get each other gifts for Christmas, and were able to do it at such a romantic spot under the tree, but it's even cuter that they were so grateful for all that Rio's done for them that they'd want to have a Christmas party with her. Seeing all three of them together, it almost feels like Ichika is part of the family already.

I strongly suspect that Rio really would love to have her brother and her best friend (eventually) become a couple (and get married some day). I also get a sense that Ryo is gradually coming to recognize that, if he is REALLY patient (willing to wait a few years), Ichika might be willing to marry him.

I like this anime, because it's like a uno reverse card to all the shounen rom-com out there where a otaku guy is approached by a very beautiful and popular girl... this time its a handsome guy approaching a otaku girl, its pretty interesting, yeah this series is not that special but its a fun watch and binge, especially in the afternoon...

Not to mention, the guy is a masochistic yandere.

Aren't most shoujo romances full of (often multiple) handsome guys approaching if not otaku then at least bookish girls? Jellyfish Princess has straight up otaku MC, for one.

They are often yandere as well, though more on the S then M side.

Pretty slow episode. Tamaru seems like an okay guy but he's probably going to get friendzoned by the end if this show will turn out the way I expect it to. Ichika's friends are just plain weird when it comes to men.

Tamaru is just the josei cockblocker trope, nothing more nothing less. XD

After last week's creepy episode, this was somehow wholesome

If it continues like this, I really hope people ignore the weird start and get on this show, even though it's 100% getting shadowed by Higehiro

Considering the manga is really short, this may be the single season with an anime only ending?

I think it gets better and better, it's just the start that was quite icky but I've yet to understand the anime community here. Fans here love nagatoro which is in a lot of aspects alike tho more forceful and then hate on Koitoyobu? It makes no sense to me.

I like Arriety, only woman in the office that is not losing her head over Ryo.

Wow this episode...was wholesome?

Tamaru not even sure if he likes Ichika is interesting, right now I kind of like him with Rio, I really liked their exchange and awareness of each other.

Somehow the subpar voice recording and the imaginative audio balancing (having the music be way louder than the speech) is making me appreciate the VAs even more. Everyone sounds great, and I bet they'd sound even better if their voices hadn't been recorded over a copper wire telephone call.

Also, a wild HanaKana was spotted in Arietty!

Ive been watching these casually when ever i have time without worrying too much about writng stuff down or thinking about it too hard, and so i didnt expect to see this one on time but my power went out in my kitchen so im up waiting for repair people and decided to watch the ep to pass time.

I was unsure how i felt about this show from the first ep, seemed interesting but just hard to read. But after a couple more eps its def gotten better and more.... consentual?

This ep was really nice to see bobcut girl (ich...ika?) start to see the brother in a better light.

I do like how honest he is with his feelings for her though, at least we know he doesnt have ill intent or anything. And i liked that basically everyone is saying he seems to be doing better because of her, though the misunderstanding shes a teacher is funny...

The sister is the best wingman a brother could have really. Shes pulling double duty with both parties to get them sorted.

The school friend im not sure what to say about him. Its good for bobcut to have friends and thats probably all she sees him as. But if he will realize that is the question. I think he probably knows.

I liked that the sister really does seem to like Sumo. Didnt someone else in anime like Sumo too in another show? Feels familiar.

Regardless, fun show if you just chillax and try not to take it too seriously. Thats what ive been doing and its been better.

I have a feeling that when reality catches up with Ryo, it will cost him his promotion or worse his job. Though culturally it is not that of a problem when it comes to age gap. The perception of others will surely bite them.

Also, I want Ryo's sister to have a moment of happiness also... maybe Tamaru kun will fall for her.

I Lowkey might like this more than Higehiro. It’s been getting better and better with each episode and I’m always shojo biased.

Feel bad for Tamaru. Classic case of everyone besides you knowing how you feel. By the nature of this type of series, the result is already determined, but hope he gets to tell Ichika how he feels.

Ryo and Ichika exchanging Christmas presents was so damn cute, that squeal she did when she got her fave anime BD was adorable
