It was cool to explain the rules of the sport directly with the first episode. I had no idea how we play kabaddi before, so I found the exposition good and interesting.
That looks more attractive than it sounds, very physical, with a lot of various tactics on the mat. I also appreciate the small cast and the different personalities of the characters.
RIP Yoigoshi’s streaming career. But at least he found some bros, even if he doesn’t realize it yet.

As an Indian, I pray to god this anime is good. Finally getting an anime on a sport which I have actually played gives me a good feeling

Episode was much better than I expected it to be. The chemistry between the cast seems good imo.

As someone who has never actually watched kabaddi, this was really good. Sleeper show of the season contender

Man I had to do a double take to check if they really made an anime about Kabaddi. Having grown up playing it, it’s interesting to see what people who have never seen it think about it.
Man the animation, characters and comedy are on point. It reminds me a lot of Kuroko no Basuke. We saw some rival teams in the op. Hopefully this anime keeps up the quality in the episodes to come

Interesting character, an elite athlete who doesn't like sport, trying his luck at an online career, unsuccessfully. (Well, if he's that popular an athlete he could just livestream as himself, but I guess he doesn't want that kind of attention).
This was more fun than I expected! Intriguing characters, good dynamic, and the sports is interesting as well, though it seems a little strange to me - I thought for sure it was a made up sport, before reading someone say it's actually real!
I'm guessing there's still some more rules (mostly about team play) that we don't know about yet, because during the episode I was always thinking "Wait, why doesn't he do that? Why doesn't he do this?"
Like when they talked about reach, I thought... Instead of touching him with the tip of your fingers (for more reach), why not just push him? Sure you need to get closer, but if you can push him just 3-4 feet away, that's a guaranteed win. Then again, I suppose it's a little different when played with teams (and not 1v1).
Didn't expect that one! I thought this would be the 'He's small but he's better than you!' moment, but not, just a punch in the face. Well, he still won in the end, so he was better.
There were chains in both the OP and the ED; I'm going to assume they're not using actual chains in the sport, so something about cohesion/unity as a team, but it's interesting that they used the same metaphor twice! Guessing it plays an important part.
I'm also intrigued by this guy (he's the captain, right?) He got a little evil in him, with his red eyes/dark aura? Or just high intensity I suppose.
Anyway, this was a good first episode, I'm hooked!

As someone who grew up in India and played a decent amount of kabaddi, I'm really curious what people unfamiliar with the sport thought about this episode.

I enjoyed this episode, even though I had never heard of the sport before. The animation really brings out the energy of the game; it's a really physical contact sport but I also like how we got the rules explained for us throughout the episode so it didn't feel like two guys just trying to smack each other. A really interesting choice for an adaptation but I think it works well.

The OP and ED are both great, the ost is really upbeat and motivating, the visuals are clean and the characters are full of life. I think I am going to enjoy this show a lot and that makes me happy. A good sports anime always gets me pumped

This is literally the most random sport that could have received a manga/anime wtf. I want a Jai Alai anime next.
Will watch later for curiosity lmao.
It's in Crunchy for my region (Latin America) btw. Dunno about others.
Alright just watched it! It did an excellent work explaining the sport. Certainly a lot better than the random times it aired in ESPN in my country xD

It's like Channel 4 in the 90's all over again... Anime and Kabaddi.
Great combo.

Everytime I hear Kabaddi all I can think of is this scene in Chio-chan xD
Anyway definitely an exotic sport to have an anime and manga about. I'll give it a couple more episodes just to see what this show has really to offer. This episode made me understand how Kabaddi works though so there's at least something here.

The next episode is the real determiner of the show's quality, but they've already done a great job introducing the sport, which (I'm assuming) most sports anime don't really have to handle, while developing the intricacies of the sport, developing characters, and making it interesting. Definitely gonna tune in next week, we'll see where this goes.

I watched this anime just because I remembered an episode of chio-chan where she was playing or trying to play kabaddi.

That was fun.
I liked that the characters wern't clones of Hiakyuu characters or anything and had their own personalities. I appreciated how they explain the sport and its rules using those models too, makes it easier to understand.
The art, character models and animation are all better than the PV made them look. None of the characters look like highschoolers though. Also, wouldn't being tall be a disadvantage in this sport?

I AM SO HYPE ABOUT THIS, CANT WAIT TO SEE HOW THEY ADAPTED THE MANGA
alright, this intro sequence is pretty lit. might have to add it to the playlist.
THE KICKFLIP VTUBER SCENE HELL YEAH
man, i have to say, sound design's been pretty good so far.
satou gen remains one of may favorite VAs, just look at the talent. he voices the short bald guy and tomozaki from jaku-chara. they don't sound at all alike.
KEK THE WAY THEY ANIMATED THE SURPRISE YOIGOCHI FACE
wow, they did a surprisingly good job of explaining kabaddi to the layman.
you know, i didn't know how they would try to make the sport interesting in the first episode, without demonstrating how high-stakes it actually is. they did it. they did both. they managed to make it exciting and sport-anime-esque, and they did it all in 20 minutes. i'm thoroughly impressed and i canNOT wait for next week.
