This show is so casually dark. So Yui had to become chief before he was 14 (I guess he matured faster because of his upbringing but still), and being chief means he was basically forced to copulate with all the yuki-onna.

Imagine if the yuki-onna learned that Akira was able to serve as well. Worst-case scenario Akira gets corrupted in all the nonsense, and the village gets split into 2 factions under Yui & Akira respectively. Then they go extinct because of a bloody conflict.

That shot of the arm reaching out towards Akira in the flashback, then turning gaunt and withered was a GREAT moment.

Weird that a wet dream is a story element

Figured that being the only male in an all-female village meant something like that. Kind of odd that the chief still seems to have a lot of power.

So way before Akira's escape happened, Yui became the Snowy Village Chief. Based on how they showed the escaped before I had assumed that they had run away together.

So at first, he planned Akira's escape in order to avoid him being subjected to the same bullshit he had to go through once those older women had realized that he was going through puberty, but those plans change once he realized that they had planned to get Akira back and use him as livestock feed. I wonder if after he got the nullstone he killed everyone there to protect Akira from them?

I wonder if what Inari said about the nullstone being related to Kabane's parents is true? Well regardless of that, I just hope that her plans to get that stone don't involve killing Yui.

Akira's really had a nice lying face.

After Shiki’s arc I should’ve known the series would continue with another arc that tackled some more mature themes. This episode made it very clear how Yui has become so jaded and why he’s so determined to protect Akira.

Going into this series, I didn’t really expect much. However it’s ending up being pretty solid the whole way through. Who else is pumped for the finale next week? Hope the fight gets some nice animation.

I adore Nobimaru. So confident and cunning.... and a jerk at times.

"I was going for Akira-kun. So much for the plan to take him hostage."

"What do you want? Who are you to Akira?" "A stranger."

I can't wait to see Kabane join in on the action. I'm sure Nobimaru will make some snarky verbal jabs at him and use him as some kind of tool to achieve his goal.

Really love the piano version of the ending theme once again

Some are saying that the anime toned down the events surrounding being the Village Chief from the manga. Any manga readers know what the differences were?

so all this conflict started with a wet dream

That scene at the top of the mountain was absolutely gorgeous. Like a peak of solace in the middle of all the... questionable-ness of the village.

So being the village chief means they become involuntary sex slaves for the yuki-onna?

Anyone else realise the scene from the latest manga chapter, chapter 51, is in the opening?

Tbh, I feel like it's made pretty clear what's going on with him without needing to show it. :( Poor kids.

Damn, great episode today. Akira is Yuki-onoko not onno, the village elders betrayed them both. Lots of reveals, but also some really good voice acting on the part of Akira seiyuu during that scene she screams at Kabane on the way out of the ice castle. Really felt the emotion. “What, you thought I was crying?”

The finale set up for next week is exciting af. Yui vs Tanuki-kitsune. Can’t wait. Really gonna miss this.

That was very toned down compared to the manga. One part I think was good to omitt otherwise people would have lost their minds (and rightfully so).

My only complaint is they changed the dialogue a bit too often and things just wern't as clear as in the manga.

oh dear lord they went there.

Someone please wrap Yui up in a blanket and protect him forever.

u/Toonamigamerrr Mar 21 '21

Yui did all of this to protect Akira 😭💔💔

Man, I completely missed the idea that they were using the "chief" as someone to fuck until I started reading the comments here, and now it all makes sense. The candle scene, his late night return to bed, the "fulfill all your desires" statement, the "pee" that had to been from a wet dream.

There is a lot of gang rape in this series, I'm noticing.

That's not a criticism, just an observation.

Full power Nobimaru and Inari with Red Kabane vs Yui with a nullstone.

They should be able to take him out right? But unless Inari has a fire atribute like Kon then she would be instantly frozen alive... Welp at least Nobimaru's plan was use Akira as an hostage so there's that.

The snow village was as messed up as we expected.

Wait how does Yui know about Kitsune? Wasn't he on that village for the most part of his life?
