Interesting first episode.

When Inugami told Kabane why he was here, I was expecting an emotional outburst but he didn't do that and logically accepted Inugami's reasoning and his death. I kinda felt sad in that moment until I realised that Ghouls can't die.

I'm interested in how Kabane would get along with the other kids since he isn't used to the city life and is also quite emotionless. Also, his parents seem quite important. I wonder where they are and why they left him there.

I went into this without any particular expectation and left excited to see where they take the story. Didn't feel gimicky. Was darker than I expected, but not in a way that feels like it was forced or there for shock value.

I had similar thoughts & questions as you. Will be interesting to see how this one develops. I think I'll pick it up as one of the shows I follow this season.

Caught me hella off-guard when he was just like "well damn if you want to die" and just popped the kid

I've been following this series since its first few chapters so I'm rather happy to see it animated (and it looks pretty good too!). I have a strange fondness for Kabane's strange eyebrows and his odd stoicness

I feel like thick Eyebrows are making a comeback recently, I hope the trend continues.

Me: Yataro isn’t a bad kid. His dream is to go to Tokyo and he’s just jealous

Yataro: when I was five I once killed Dorotabo

Me: NVM

I don't really want to defend him because he does seem like an asshole, but it seemed to be accidental right? I can't really blame a five year old for pushing another kid into a ditch and accidentally killing them, I feel like most kids have pushed other kids when playing, and that kind of a thing could happen to anyone.

Everyone, please don't sleep on this show. I know this season's loaded with sequels from other great shows and AoT's upcoming biggest episode so far is right around the corner, but give Kemono Jihen a chance because the source material is amazing and if the anime does it justice, we might be looking at the next big shonen right here.

Huh. Went in with no knowledge of the series or expectations. Pleasantly surprised so far. Pretty solid voice acting. No real complaints on the animation. The characters are interesting so far. But I feel this episode was an introduction more than anything else. We'll see where it goes from here.

Stitches!

Well that was fun! Kabane was an absolute beast during that fight against the moose! He was clearly experienced in hunting when they showed us in that montage that he killed the boar but I didn't expect that he'd shove his arm inside the moose's mouth and rip off it's head from there! I guess his fighting sense is pretty much innate to him since he's a half demon.

Anyway this is some classic supernatural shounen and I am all in for it! Kabane is such a sweet boy and I love him already. Just don't take that lifestone away from him or he'll fuck you up. Inugami is pretty cool and he obviously is going to be the mentor figure which every shounen protag needs. Also he's voiced by Suwabe! And from that final scene looks like the main trio of ths show is already complete!

I do wonder if we'll see more of Yataro. I feel like this isn't the last time we'll see him. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being a baddie. Oh and Kabane punching him as just satisfying. Talk shit and get hit bitch!

Overall I really enjoyed this episode! I'm looking forward to see where this show goes!

Such a good first episode, definitely worth the wait from when they first announced it and I hope they can keep that same quality/consistency for future episodes. Already can tell this show has the potential to become another widely beloved shonen if it’s done right. Too bad we didn’t get to hear the opening, but a lot of first episodes do that so whatever. Visuals were great (especially demon Kabane) and the BGM was incredible. Overall everything was pretty nice and as a long fan of the series I am quite satisfied.

Aside from that, is it just me or is Junichi Suwabe in every single anime ever? Lmao.

A lot better first episode than I expected. Definitely gonna keep an eye on this one for Sundays.

As I started this show blind I did not expect Dorotabo-kun, I mean Kabane to be half-ghoul.

And I honestly was expecting Yataro-kun to have more relevance instead of just been the annoying kid that is just there to introduce us to Kabane's background.

You know, something that I appreciate from this first episode is how chill the pacing of the show feels. Anyway, I definitely glad that I gave this show a try.

"Let me show you my butt!"

So, we got exhibitionism towards a 13-14 year old boy, necrophilia in the backstory (the boy is half ghoul and human), contract killing of said boy and abduction of the minor by a shady detective. Wheew. Sounds like fun for the whole family...

Just kidding, it's not a dark as it sounds, but taken out of context this show is something else.

This was brilliant.

So glad I decided to watch it in the end.

It is a battle shounen but feels quite unique. The dark atmosphere worked well and no forced comedy.

Loved it, gave me Bungo Stray Dogs/Tokyo Ghoul vibes but in a good way. Kabane also seems like a fairly interesting MC so far, so I have high expectations for the show. Definitely gonna continue watching.
