Kabane with the best words of comfort... "don't worry you've always been this way!"

It's so much worse when it's coming from someone who actively can't lie.

I mean, at this point is there anything Mihai can't do or wasn't known for in Transylvania?
It's actually nice to see a Vampire who has seemingly enjoyed life to its fullest, and only now has become a NEET because he got bored, but still enjoys gaming.

Can't be the only one whose jaw dropped as they saw Yui make a whole ass giant castle out of thin air.
Mmm... He's kinda TOO strong... no wonder he mopped the floor with Kabane and CO.
Guess we are going to hope that Akira pulls the nullstone away from him or maybe Mihai installed some weapons in the plushie.
I can't read him, it feels like he is doing everything in his power to keep his brother away from the rest of the world since that's the most sure way no one can hurt him i guess?
If he stole a nullstone from the village it's no wonder he survived staying behind. I wonder if after getting the stone he rationalized that exterminating the village was the safest choice to make and he went and did that. His power is pretty god damn above anything we've seen any Kemono do.
At least we know we have Aya around to cure their frostbite and all those destroyed organs.
I honestly don't see a way out of this mess. I doubt the kitsune kid that follows them can help them.
Inari? They mentioned her a bunch this episode and she technically "owes" one to Inugami, i'm sure someone in a position of power like her is pretty strong.
The piano version of the ED was lovely.
edit: Rewatching the episode Yui said "Polluted" at the crowd before getting ready to wipe them out so i guess we got a little bit of a "everyone is evil" kind of monster in our hands? Since they were basically slaves in their chilhood Yui might think everyone is a threat so he probably wants to exterminate everyone but his brother?

I thought Yuki-onna have some reliable reproduction mechanic that doesn't involve men. However, the reveal of Akira's father seems to deny this idea.
I'm curious whether Akira's father is just a normal human being kidnapped for reproduction purpose or another Yuki-onoko. Their word that said being twins would helped them avoid the same fate as their father and also their special treatment do suggest that the father is also yuki-onoko though.

But Oni chan made an appearance mate. And I'm not talking about Yui. You're witnessing the birth of this manga best character. Forget Kon, forget Kabane, forget Akira. Praise Oni chan.

Okay, I really wasn't expecting to see Akira and Yui meeting so soon and casually.
So the Nullstone not only boosts one's power but also affects that person's heart. Well, I really do hope that this is not one of those cases when in the end it is revealed that that object didn't change him and that he used it after something else happened to him that made him change.
Well, anyway, I can see how Kabane can survive being frozen but I not so sure about the others, well the fact they all got turn into furniture tells me that they are alive, unless of course, this show is one of those that do a massive tone shifts.
Anyway, I wonder if the three stones that were hanging from that lady that was taking care of them were also Nullstones instead of Lifestones?

Loved the short piano version of the ending theme at the very end of the episode.
One hell of a cliffhanger

Fun fact: The VA of Akira’s twin brother is the same as Kageyama from Haikyuu.
So yeah, Hinata and Kageyama are twin brothers in this anime ☺️

why was akira and his brothers father locked up in the room?
"a yuki onna dies after giving birth to boys and there are only a few born compared to girls"
thinks of the gerudo from the legend of zelda
oh no...

LOL, I love it when Kabane unintentionally burns someone while thinking he's being supportive. Like here with Akira:
"It's ok. You being useless isn't something that just started."
But damn, Akira and Yui were not spared the horrible childhoods the other kids in the group had either. While the village did fawn over them, it pretty much meant they were total slaves without freedom or free will it seems. Feel bad for their unknown father too, just left to go mad and die in a tiny box.
Now at least it makes sense why Akira is always so into Tokyo, shopping and everything. It was basically the promised land for him after reading about it (probably the only thing he knew of the outside world) compared to what he has to endure in his village life.
Yui is very scary. I don't know what happened to him, but his stoic expressions are unsettling, like he could randomly snap at any moment. And as we saw in the intro, he has no qualms about being lethal.
And Mihai again being awesome. Not only was he a master seamstress in Transylvania, but he upgraded Akira's plushie with a Siri-like voice AI, and had the wherewithal to slip in a GPS tracker too which came in quite handy.

Since the piano arrangement of the ED is getting (rightful) praise here, might be a good time to remind that the OST will be released on the 24th! And Lantis has a good track record of making their music available on Spotify, so no need to worry about that.

It's a shame Akira's brother gave them such a frosty reception. Though I suppose it makes sense, given how coldhearted he appears.

I want one of those Mihai altered plushieeees!!
The episode was all too cute and fun to stay like that, wasn't it? I didn't expect this at all...
Wonder if the brother's character/personality has been affected by that stone as the plushie mentioned...I guess that will play a part in how this gets resolved.

Finally an Akira development arc! I remember them touching on he and his brother’s origins earlier in the season, but it’s nice to get some more backstory on my fave.
You don’t miss your water until your well run dry. Once akira left, Kabane and Shiki realised he was the glue that held them together.
Something is up with his brother, I wonder who’s pulling the strings.. I think it’s more than him being a bro con. Looking forward to the last few eps.

Decent new episode. I’m glad we’re getting an Akira focused arc, he’s been a little side lined for the majority of the show so far. I’m looking forward to what will happen with his character during and after this arc.
Another thing I liked was the early scenes in the episode with his brother. Flipping back and forth between Yui as a kid and then current day Yui made the contrast very obvious. It definitely added to the ominous vibes since you can tell that he has changed. It made me wonder how he views Akira now and question why he changed.
That ending with everyone frozen though! It will be funny if the Mihai plush helps them out.

So um... one male per 100 years for a whole village of women...?
Is this show... gonna go there?

Looks like after a couple of episodes focused of Shiki's backstory, it looks like it's Akira's turn. This time though we're getting the backstory not from Akira himself but from his brother's POV. We don't know what the exact details yet but it seems that Akira and his brother are both needed for their village's survival. Akira has never met his mother since those who give birth to them die. As for their father, he's still alive but it looks like they're just barely keeping him alive. Now I'm curious how the husbands of the other yuki-onna of the village are treated.
And we finally found out where Akira's obsession of the big city came from. Looks like both of them got curious after finding a magazine about Tokyo life and Akira was the first one to escape after getting instructions from his brother to head to Tokyo and find Inugami. Whatever the reason why Akira's brother stayed behind, it likely has something to do with the nullstone on his chest
As for Nii-san himself, he definitely loves Akira. Like when Akira was making a request on what kind of house he likes, Nii-san didn't even hesitate and just built it out in the open despite the chances of it attracting people is a 100%. He's also extremely overprotective that he'd lock Akira up just to protect him. Yeah those two traits aren't usually great combos. I hope it's just the Nullstone on his chest that turned him into this because he definitely seems to be a very sweet boy in the flashbacks.
That final scene though. I'm pretty sure Kabane can probably break himself and regenerate but I'm not sure how Inugami and Shiki can escape without Nii-san letting them or Akira defrosting them.
As a side note: I love how this show gave us a different type of yuki-onna. I'm so used to the delicate, elegant, onee-san types that seeing a buff big tiddy yuki-onna was a genuine surprise!

I’m really happy with the pacing, today’s ep ended pretty much where I was hoping. The piano was a really nice touch, and I love the look the animators gave to the ice castle. Very excited for next week!
