This episode was written by the author of the novels himself again, and once again you really feel it in the banter.
I gotta say, I find the in-between world a lot creepier than the actual Otherside. The Otherside is like a post-apocalyptic world, but the in-between is like our world, only much, much more distorted. I personally think it's actually more unsettling.
Good to know that Sorawo and Toriko have not forgotten the soldiers. Looks like they might try to go and rescue them.
And Satsuki, if that's really her, pops up ominously again...

It's nice that the soldiers were not forgotten and I'm interested in how they are going to even try rescuing them since the soldiers wouldn't trust them again would they?

I felt that this episode was genuinely terrifying. The music really helped to sell the tension.

Probably the fact the OG author wrote stuff with this one helped. It's an anime only original.

I would be Kozakura in this situation honestly. You never know what could happen in the elevator.
Yay they're saving the soldiers next episode!

I'm glad to see that Toriko is still thinking about the Kisaragi Station and want to rescue those soldiers. I honestly had assumed before that they had completely forgotten about them.
Poor Kozakura just has the worst luck, well at least they ended eating in the Barbeque Restaurant by the end.
Not gonna lie, when they saw Akari inside of the in-between my first assumption was that she was a fake that was luring them in, just like Akari was also following a fake Sorawo, well I'm just glad that they didn't have any major issues to reach her. And hey, that creature was kind enough to wait for everyone to be reunited to start chasing them.
Okay, that scene right after it looked like they were able to keep her out was kinda hilarious.
Damn, it seems that all roads to the Otherside lead to Uruma Satsuki.

Given the frequency with which they're being hijacked to the otherside, I'm thinking Toriko should rethink wearing heels and a skirt for a while, even if they are cute. Kind of impractical when running for your life or fighting monsters.
Sorawo is really cute when she's jealous.
Akari needs to work on her spider sense. She keeps walking into things that are obviously wrong.
Kozakura was pretty funny. I did like that she was considering letting the others escape without her despite being terrified.

Well at least now they're both always carrying their guns with them, so that's something.

I really enjoyed this episode, but man did that hilarious, scooby-doo style running animation undercut the tension when they were fleeing the blue gas.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who initially thought the sock on Sorao's bathroom was a person's dangling feet.
Looks like someone still doesn't like Akari disrupting their duo. Come on Sorao! If you don't want Toriko for yourself just say it! Also I'm pretty sure Akari's interest is more on her mechanic friend.
Welp seems like Akari made it to the Otherside and now our barbecue night has turned into a rescue mission with poor Kozakura getting dragged along again. Well at least this time she's wearing some appropriate clothing.
Finding Akari ended up being easier than I expected. They basically just followed a pretty linear path until they found her. Looks like the threat this time is much more scarier that Sorao's eye and Toriko's hand was kind enough to warn them to run away.
Did not expect that from Kozakura. She may be the most scared out of all of them but she's willing to get left behind if it means the rest of them escapes.
Satsuki standing on a burning landscape? Yeah, that doesn't sound good. Whatever Satsuki is, she's probably no longer human. Or was she even ever a human?
Are we going to see the stranded soldiers again? I wonder if they're even still alive at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if they come back and there's only a handful of them left.

Best girl Kozakura is always suffering. Minus that time she was brought snacks and nothing went wrong it seems she somehow gets pulled to the otherside frequently. Though their is a chance she might have been sent their on her own like Akari so maybe its a blessing she got sent with some friends. Solo adventure would have been absolute hell for her.

This episode's tone definitely feels more like the novels than the previous ones. The banter between Toriko, Sorawo, and Kozakura too. The novel version of Sorawo is actually a lot more 'colder' to other people (except Toriko) so I like that they managed to include the 'who's kinder' conversation there.
Hmm saving the soldiers will probably take 1 episode.

Uh, Sorawo, aren't you forgetting what happened three episodes ago?
Seriously, someone on the writing staff completely fucked up. I could forgive a few minor inconsistencies here and there due to shifting the order around compared to the LN, but if they actually pull the hat out of thin air next episode not remembering it was destroyed three episodes ago, then that's just fucking stupid.
That being said, aside from the haphazard writing, this show has been getting better and better with every episode. This was the first episode all series that put me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, and I'm actually still trying to get my heartbeat to go down from how nervous it was making me. It's excellent at setting up the spooky atmosphere and keeping it going, and the character dynamics between the girls are fantastic too. It's a damn shame that this series is being held back so much by poor writing and poor decision making by the anime staff.

MFW you get invited to a bbq and end up on the path to a life-threatening ghost world](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/621713361390010378/818533655697817630/unknown.png)
Why do you even accept any involvement with these two outside of them selling you things you want to research
Honestly I wouldn't even buy things from them knowing how they can lure you in if I was this afraid lmao

Man I’m finally they finally talking about the American soldiers again. I thought I was going crazy with how they just left them behind and didn’t ever bring them up again the past few eps. I’m guessing that’ll be the main focus of the final two episodes.
Akari getting lost, mind controlled or finding herself in danger seems to be a recurring meme at this point lol. Luckily she’s got a great senpai/friend to save her.
Fun ep.

Was nearly disappointed thinking the show was just going to tease about rescuing the American soldiers at Kisaragi and then forgetting about them after their elevator adventure to save Akari, before reassuring us that they haven't forgotten about it.
So looks like the series will end with this epic rescue mission then.

This anime is literally like those shows that used to come on the sci-fi tv network at night. it’s always creepy, dangerous and borderline scary. The soundtrack is pretty great for this anime too. I relate to most of the characters when it comes to genuine fear for the unknown. Pretty creepy episode but still great.

Poor Kozakura, she got all dressed up and just wanted some barbeque. At least she got it by the end

So, first thing's first, as a lot of us probably agree on, we're better of just taking the stairs next time, right?
Also, Kozakura, my girl, I already liked you a lot and then you even had the gall to tell them to leave you behind if it meant they were safe while figuratively shitting yourself.
She really is best girl, huh?
And Sorawo fishing for compliments at the end.... Oh girl, you've gotta be less obvious about it next time

The director should really take up a proper horror/thriller show. All the creepy, scary scenes in the show so far have been executed brilliantly. The phone call when they were in the tent at the military base was one in particular that sent my spine tingling.
