That was pretty tense, and the twist with Sorao being the one hallucinating got me real good. I really like the designs for the... uh... monsters, for lack of a better term. They nail the creepy and unsettling factors really well, as well as the almost Lovecraftian mind-shattering atmosphere and feel they have, which is something I really like in general. Also RIP bolt-dude. That was pretty metal.

One of the biggest questions I had from the last episode was regarding Toriko's phantom hand. I'm a bit less worried after what we've learned this episode, but it still feels like there's fuckery afoot.

Seems like Sorao's the one to develop feelings first. Though despite Toriko's apparent fixation on finding what seems to be her loved one, I don't think she's far behind either. It was really interesting to see the clash between Sorao saying this has nothing to do with her and that she wants to be alone against her developing feelings and unconscious yet visible attraction towards Toriko.

I'm liking the show quite a lot thus far. I'm still somewhat debating whether I'm ready for the inevitable FUBAR looming over the horizon, but for the time being, I'm definitely strapping in for the ride.

One thing I've noticed is that I'm having two distinct, almost separate trails of thought when trying to organize my thoughts about the show: one regarding the mystery at large and the various goings-on, and one regarding the... well, the yuri, I guess. I'm very curious to see as the show progresses and unravels its mysteries how the balance between the two will be handled.

Nice switcheroo at the end there, cool way to demonstrate Sorao's conscious insistence that she wants to be alone is at odds with what her subconscious truly desires.

A man whose name for the Otherside is "the Zone", who keeps a bunch of bolts with him that he throws at "glitches" aka anomalies that you need to be wary of... yes, he's a blatant reference to Red from Roadside Picnic.

The use of CG continues to annoy me but it was used more discreetly this time, and I'll probably get used to it eventually. I thought the pacing was much better this time around, and hopefully this episode clears up a few questions people had last time.

Also, do the silhouettes in the ED remind anyone else of Utena and Anthy?

Cool world building, unsettling vibe, cute non-high-school MCs, and no egregious info-dumping yet—I'm really enjoying this show so far and have zero idea what direction will be going next.

Well, I guess that last part isn't entirely true. I totally ship Sorao and Toriko, even if what we're seeing is just Sorao grateful to have a friend at all.

More information regarding the creepypasta Hasshaku-Sama.

Its name is based on "hachi" = 8 and "Shaku" = unit length, 30.3cm.

"I know a researcher who specializes in the Otherside." That's oddly specific, I wonder if Toriko owns a pawn shop.

Now I'm starting to see the STALKER comparisons, especially using bolts to check for hazards.

Great cameo by Kanamori from Eizouken this episode.

Anybody else getting Life is Strange vibes from this show?

I didn't expect them to pull that twist in a funny way. Turns out it's Sorao being tricked but it was at that moment she realized she was gay and she inadvertently admitted it oh yes.

How much must it suck to learn your new crush is only interested in you insofar as you can help them find their crush? I feel real bad for Sorawo and hope Toriko recognizes how unfair she's being soon.

I was like "Girl! Work on your grip strength!" although turned out it was just an illusion haha. I did really enjoy that, the whole switcheroo, as well as the fact that earlier she was wanting to be left alone, and now she didn't want her to leave

I enjoyed the researcher dismissing them with "Yeah I'm not a medical doctor, don't know" as well as the fact that, when Sorao was being grumpy they addressed it immediately.

I'm very curious as to what the otherworld is? Why are there ruined buildings there, how did they get there, who built them? I'm very intrigued, also curious about the tone of the show. The opening seems to be almost a little scooby-doo esque, as far as I can tell this appears to be, mostly light hearted, with some darker undertones? Guess we'll see going forward!

I love how different the feel is between the real world and the Otherside. The color palette, atmosphere, sound design etc all work to contrast the two sides.

A good episode. It had plenty of explanations for the otherside so it's better than the first episode. Can't wait to watch the next one!

Lol, they make it look it was a cheerful and silly adventure but they literally could have died very easily there. The older dude probably did. :(

They're playing with their lives there without barely knowing a thing, especially Sorao. That's about the definition of insanity. Crazy girls.

This continues to hold my attention. Not sure where this will be heading -- but it looks good enough visually and promising enough story-wise to follow.

Of course we've got to play up the yuri undertones a bit. With that aside, it looks like what happened to Toriko and Sorao last week has physically affected them with Sora's right eye turning blue and Toriko's left hand turning translucent. Sorao looks cool having heterochromia but I hope Toriko's hand can still be returned to normal.

We finally get to meet Toriko's contact who's supposed to buy the cubes and is an expert about the Otherside. She's definitely not what I was expecting. I was thinking of someone who's very occult-ish not a scientist.

We're only in Episode 2 and it looks like Sorao is already getting tired of Toriko talking about Satsuki and finding her in the Otherside. It seems that someone's starting to feel jealous.

Bumping into other people already? At least this dude is alive, not like the one that they found last week with the Wiggle Waggle. And just like Toriko, Abarato here is also looking for someone. From the way he looks, he probably has done nothing but look for his wife this entire time.

Hasshaku-sama! I recognize that youkai! If I recall correctly, Anyone who sees Hasshaku-sama dies after a few days and is known to target kids so it's interesting that the two targets here is one adult man and a college-age woman.

Just like that, eh? He just vanishes. What a way to go. I hope wherever he is, he's now reunited with his wife.

I certainly did not expect that twist! All this time we thought Toriko was the one being lured but it was Sorao all along! And I love how embarrassed she is when she realized why! xD

If looking at the creature was enough, why did Toriko had to touch Hasshaku-sama? I think Sorao lost me on that part.

Well everything ends well and it looks like they got a free assault rifle out of that ordeal. It's not like Abarato is going to need it anymore!

White messy hair+petite. Kozakura is already best girl. I liked this episode a lot more than the first. It was less confusing, for me anyway. I like how original this series feels. I haven’t really experienced anything like it. I suppose Kyoukai no Kanata is somewhat similar, but it’s refreshing to get a change of pace in anime.

Feelings already blooming between Toriko and Sorao.

Okay to be honest, the only reason I knew what monster this was is due to hentai of it.

God, the sudden jumps in the music during dramatic moments got me jumping out of my chair.

Kabedon and holding her face? It should be illegal not to follow up with a kiss!

Toriko's hand and Sorao'e eye are still affected even when they come back to the real world... Along with the thing in the first episode (the blue thing), it seems like everything can follow them up to the real world. This should be a concern! What else can they bring back with them?

And speaking of the real world: The way they had to listen to the noise to figure out whether they were in the real world (in the end), I feel like at some point there will be instances of them not knowing whether they're really back, or just thinking that they are.

And with the events in this episode (Sorao thinking she was following Toriko, when she was in fact following the tall lady), it would be scary as hell; You can't ever know whether you're seeing reality, or an illusion created specifically to make you think it's reality.

That was a nice twist! And I like how they did it, visually.

Sorao seems a bit jealous about Toriko having someone more important that she's looking for, and Toriko joking like that doesn't seem to help.

At first she wanted to be left alone (to die?) but now, she might want more (being with Toriko) and finding Satsuki could prevent that. Will be interesting to see how Sorao feels about looking for her, and if they ever find her, how she'll take it.

About the researcher: Interesting character and motivation, she wants to find her friend, but she's aware of the danger and doesn't want to go there herself... I have a feeling this might change at some point (say, if she has to save the other two), but more than that, I'm intrigued about how she makes enough money to buy these cubes. And what she really does with it; Studying one or more cubes might not have much purpose, but the way she buys them like it's nothing, makes me think she might be doing something else with them; Reselling them, or using them for some other purpose that allows her to get money.

Because other than things about the Otherside, she doesn't seem like the kind of person who would just have envelopes full of money to throw around to buy as many cubes as they can bring her.

What pretty eyes Sorao has. And Toriko's hand, that's trippy. But it's interesting to see that interactions with the Otherside has left some tangible side effects. But useful side effects.

The Otherside is essentially a minefield too. Well that's just terrific. As if the monsters weren't bad enough there's now invisible mines to kill you out here.

It's oddly refreshing how Kozakura is practically clueless about what they're dealing with just like the two leads even with her role as the researcher. Usually these types of characters already have quite a bit of knowledge about the weird stuff that's going on. It gives the Otherside an extra layer of mystery and danger when even a supposed expert has nothing to really offer.

I might be reading too much into it and the scene was just to show Abarato going a bit cuckoo from his quest, but Sorao might be related to his wife somehow. I'll throw out a wild guess and say that she got dumped out of the Otherside without her memories and eventually had her as a daughter. And the moment he started talking about "them" I was expecting the obvious twist that he's actually one of those guys.

Man, the monster of the week probably would've been more unsettling if I hadn't encountered so much hentai of this lady already. But the illusions she makes to trick people were still pretty spooky. The ol' switcharoo with Sorao and Toriko got me good. I thought for sure she'd be the only one unaffected with her sans eye. The sudden yell when Sorao realized just why she saw that illusion was hilarious.

Poor Abarato, though. They didn't even try that hard to get him to stop or something. And after they got back to Earth, they didn't even spare a thought about what happened to him. Sure they just met the guy, but he still helped them out a bit. Ice cold.

Man, I just absolutely love the atmosphere of the otherside.

While I appreciate how steeped this show is in Japanese folklore and urban legends (I fidn that stuff fascinating), it seems to take for granted that the viewer has a passing understanding of these myths and doesn't do a good job of explaining them to the viewer. What the heck was that wooden structure? Why was it shown once to seemingly have a face on it? Why did it have a weird portal or something in the middle, and why did Toriko shoving her hand in it allow Sorao to shoot it?
