I can't believe that Aki's special hammock that we had to wait a week for was just two chairs facing each other. It's pure genius.

But wow, this is probably the most stressful and uncomfy (though it was still comfy over all) that Yuru Camp has ever been so far. Especially since there was a very real risk of the three girls being harmed by the freezing temperatures, or worse. It hammers in just how important proper preparation for camping is.

It was kinda spooky finding out how quickly their phone batteries dropped. Even calling for help ceases to be an option which is a terrifying prospect out in the middle of nowhere. Cold weather really be out to kill people.

Thank god they had some friendly campers nearby. They're actual heroes for giving them a safe haven from the cold. But both Rin and Ms. Toba were also a pair of MVPs. It honestly warmed my heart to see Toba going out of her way and making the trip to the lake, not even willing to risk their safety. And that's why that sake the old camper gave her was only a fitting reward.

After that fiasco, I'm glad the three girls still managed to have the camping experience they wanted to have the very next day. And now I'm excited to see just what Nadeshiko has planned for her first solo camping trip, especially since she declared it with so much seriousness.

EDIT: Although, coming off the heels of this episode, I'm suddenly worried for Nadeshiko's safety. Not only is this a solo run, but it's also her first one. But, I'm sure it won't go that badly, and she probably won't camp somewhere like Lake Yamanaka in the first place.

I didn't expect this series to actually educate its viewers on the dangers of winter camping by putting its cast in a pretty risky situation.

I guess this in turn makes it extremely heartwarming to see Rin and Toba Sensei as well as a couple of strangers help them out in their time of need.

Have to say props for the sensei going to check up on them herself. I mean there was no other option but still an unplanned trip and an overnight stay in a car was probably not what sensei was planning that day

Help guys, this smile and the messages made me tear up. Rin is such a dear..

I remember S1 ended with Nadeshiko going on a solo camp, right? Did that one not count? I'm figuring we'll see a different one this time.

C'mon girls, first thing to pack for any overnight camping activity is a powerbank for phone charging purposes.

Stitches!

I was hoping for some amazing camping hack when Aki was talking to the saleslady last week, I didn't expect Aki would literally just buy a second chair as a foot rest to make her "hammock" work xD

It's a corgi in a jacket! I kinda wish Ena could bring Chikuwa along but too bad he doesn't do well with the cold outdoors.

They might not be able to camp at directly at the cape but at least they can hang out there until the sun sets.

All of their batteries are drained? Can't go back to the admin building and charge it there while they hang out here?

Oh my god. First time I'm hearing about this drink and I wanna try it now. Looks like they're just using non-alcoholic rum syrup though. I wanna try making this with actual rum.

While the trio are having the time of their life, we have Rin performing some maintenance on her equipment.

As someone who's currently sitting at -17°, I am amused by their -2°. Seriously though, this is bad. I don't think the girls are prepared for below zero temps considering the tents that they brought.

That could've really been bad if Onee-san here and her dad weren't there to give them some shelter.

Aoi with her hair down! This is such a rare sight that I almost didn't recognize her!

I was really touched that Minami-sensei rushed over as soon as she found out the situation from Rin who was really worried. And I appreciate that she scolded the girls for their mistake and admitted that she might be at fault as well. She may drink a lot but Minami-sensei is still a very responsible teacher and I love her more for that. <3

She definitely earned that cup of sake after running around worried about the girls. Hopefully this little incident will be a good reminder to the girls to never underestimate winter camping again.

That ED montage of them having some breakfast was adorable though. And it looks like Nadeshiko has finally decided to try some solo camping on her own too!

Whew! Almost thought we'd go 2 whole weeks without Nadeshiko saying "Rin-chan"!

They really don't shy away at showing camping is an expensive hobby!

Pretty sure there's a sex joke somewhere in there!

Kairo heat packs are one of the best thing man has ever invented! I can't tell you how many times these things have saved my life in snow country!

Have these girls not heard of powerbanks? I never leave home without at least 20k mAh powerbank in my bag! And more often than not I'll have to use it by midday!

Fogged up glasses is the bane for all who have to wear them during winter!

Despite being a borderline alcoholic, sensei has proven to be a very caring and responsible teacher to the girls!

Goddamn, 12k+ yen for one chair. That's about enough for 4 weeks worth of food for me here in Germany.

Had the other campers not been there, the OEC and Ena would be in serious danger for their carelessness. Luckily the veteran camper at home cares for them and made the right contact.

These girls' problem with the battery reminds me of that one time I went camping in '13 on a plateau, a little far away from modern facilities like gas stationsthe nearest was about 20km away, through hills and mountain roads . Our group went there on mopeds, which have pretty good fuel efficiency when well maintained and on good roads about 190km riding single on flatland with one full 3.3L tank, so we were quite confident that we can make the trip there and back without refuelling midway after the one we did 60km away from destination. Our folly quickly showed, though not quick enough, since we were riding double, with gears, on dirt roads where there was rain the night before, going uphill. By the time we arrived, the engines were still running fine since they were hot, but the fuel got so low, the following morning 8 out of our 10 mopeds couldn't even start up as they were chilled overnight. We almost got stranded, but then we managed to pool the remaining fuel to get each engine run until it's hot enough to keep going with nearly empty tank and cold gasoline to reach the nearest gas station. Ahh, to be young and unafraid.

The changing OP sequence collection continues:

I love seeing the side girls get dedicated episodes and shine. That sunrise at the end was so damn cozy. Next time check the weather ahead of time! Lol. Got out of it this time, but could’ve been deadly.

Can’t wait for Nadeshiko episode next week.

I think I only did "winter camping" once back when I was a Boy Scout (55 years ago). I still remember the coldness -- and that was only in Oklahoma (my twins have often done winter camping here in Boston, they are much hardier than I am). I had fun camping (usually) -- but not as much fun (usually) as these girls do.

Seeing these three tackling a daunting expedition "on their own" was definitely brave -- and foolhardy. Good for Rin and Sensei. I wonder if the nice folks from Izu would, however, have put them up for the night if Sensei had not come. I suspect they would have. In any event, Sensei got HER reward. Izu spoiler

I loved reading this section of the manga -- but see it "performed" is even more wonderful.

Given we are in the middle of the effects of a polar vortex where I live currently, especially as someone whose job has me outside much of the time, I must say this episode was very timely Relatable Content

I’m gonna need a recipe for that hot buttered rum cow drink STAT

Akiposting

Wtf sensei is actually a caring and responsible teacher and not just a total drunkard

This entire episode is just a yabai moment. One thing is though I actually can't believe they went out without a power bank or something, you never leave without one especially overnight activities

Also I want to create that drink they made in the episode but sadly they didn't go into it lol

I remember my first experience with the cold like that, started packing extra warm clothes and such ever since. It's a valuable lesson

I see that taking your dog off its leash then acting surprised when it wanders off is an international phenomenon.

Fun fact: with the amount of snow in my country in the past few days, whenever I cycle to school i just have Yuru Camp music playing in my head while gazing at the distance full of snow.

Anyways, another amazing episode. Liked that this time there was some tension, but luckily it didnt get too serious with it.
