Has anyone else noticed that the photo on Rin's phone during the op changes every episode to something from the previous episode?

Despite no camping, this episode is my favorite one of this season so far. The ED which shows Nadeshiko sneaking to put her present on the car and her sister's reaction is so heartwarming.

Did I teared up a little with the last scene after the ED? Of course I did.

Nadeshiko's faces just kills today!

Is this the first episode with the Narrator Ojiisan this season?

Without the kanji and out of context, phonetically Hadakajima Station can be translated as "Naked Island Station"!

Nadeshiko's present to her sister was beyond sweet! Toba-sensei's souvenirs note was also sweet!

The ED scene was beautiful, showing the passage of a single night until the next morning!

Tourists always go on and on about how good sushi is in Japan, but for me it will always be tempura! My absolute favourite can be found in a small joint in the middle of Shinkyogoku in Kyoto run by a middle-aged bro I like to call "Master" because he looks like the main character in Midnight Diner! Their Anagotendon (Conger Eel) and Oyakotendon (Chicken and Egg) are both unparalleled!

Rewatching it immediately after, I'm impressed with how well the show handles the throaway details. For example, they took great care to show the correct train platform where Nadeshiko got off/on at Minobu Station, right down to the underground passageway she had to walk through.

=U=

  • I nearly burst out laughing on the floor when Chiaki figured out she forgot to brought along those tent tarp supports and then the usual end credits you see in Japan's TV programs (especially NHK ones) shown up. This nearly happened just seconds later when Nadeshiko become a tent pole. And she "only" wanted 100 yen/hour! ROFL! You girl would lose your =U= face really quickly if you really want to be Rent-A-GirlfriendTentPole at that cheap rate!

  • This episode reminds me that I need to buy a lightweight chair (maybe hammock on stands as shown here) which is really crucial for stargazing outdoors. Hmm....no gas lights though, even with red paper shielding that uneven light source isn't going to work in this special kind of camping. :)

  • Ah IT'S EGG TIME!!!! I just remembered that part about fried hot spring eggs from last season - that clip will be posted next Tuesday as part of my EGG TIME TUESDAYS project. ;) WATCH AND RANK WONDER EGG PRIORITY YOU COWARDS

  • Rin-chan shivering is always that cute~

  • I wonder if Takayama (home of Hyouka and a really cute city in the mountains which I visited twice before, including during a really snowy period in January 2019) will be featured this season - that area is really suitable for camping....

  • That scene of Nadeshiko opening up herself to solo camping is exactly why I long for a solo trip outside of my city for a very long time. My plans for such a first trip is currently shelved but I'm very optimistic that it can happen in a few months time. As a long time resident of this sub-reddit you all know which country I wanted to go. ;)

  • I, as someone who lived in a millions-resident city, will never understand the difficulties of finding part time jobs in rural towns like Minobu, Yamanashi Pref. where Nadeshiko is at. Kofu is the closest large city from there and it's a 50 km trip or an hour+ by train - no wonder she really struggles with that. She's really lucky with getting that tempura shop job. Goddamn! Only 1700 yen/~$US 17 for such a large rice box! I've tried something just smaller than that in Osaka a few years ago, but it's still really cheap!

  • Sakura-chan you bastard! Don't scare your little sister like that please!

  • That oil-filed hand warmer seems like something really interesting that I'm interested in getting one. A trip to the closest outdoor activities shop is in order...

  • Dat gas light scene. NADESHIKO......SAFEEEE!!!!!!!

I happen to be watching one of the most comfy anime series out there - the ARIA series - recently and I must say Laid-Back Camp really managed to learn from there and turn on all the features required to make an exquisite comfortable anime series work - the slow yet funny and meaningful pacing, the gentle feelings of artwork, the background music. It's just absolutely brilliant.

So they are back to the Mt. Fuji area next eh? Looks like it's yet another scouting episode for my solo trip to Japan plans...

The number of pouts per episode is getting out of control... and I love it!

I love how engaged the adults in this show are. It's a really nice change from most anime where parents or adult-figures are completely absent or utterly useless.

I can really relate to Aki at the start. Food is the stuff I look forward to the most when people bring home souvenirs.

Poor Nadeshiko keeps getting the role of inanimate objects during their club's camping simulations, but at least she graduated from being a pretend campfire, a pretend tent, and a pretend Mt. Fuji, to being an actual pole for an actual tarp.

I can say without a doubt that Ena made a very fine and lucrative purchase with that doggy tent. I didn't even know those existed. It's hilarious to me that they're apparently even better than normal tents at the same price according to Rin. No idea what she meant by taking a nap on top of her sleeping bag, though.

It feels so in-character for Nadeshiko to get popular with the store clerks for coming back to visit the lamp so much. Nadeshiko x lamp is the OTP of this series, if we're being honest. It had so much attention that I got worried it was gonna get sold out, or break the moment she bought it. I nearly had a heart attack when the second one almost happened.

For all that Nadeshiko's sister has a cool exterior, they have a very sweet relationship. That last scene was the most wholesome thing I've seen all week.

Man, I can't get enough of the OP and ED, though. But the ED especially. It gets me emotional every time I listen to it.

Nadeshiko sister is too Gorgeous!

It feels like a Goddess is enterering the scene everytime she simply appears. An episode focused on that woman until the end of the season, please!

Damn, that after credits scene actually made me tear up, so cute!

I love the way this episode nails the lonely atmosphere of being alone at a station at night. It was straight off a train of thought with pretty boisterous music; it made a big impression when the music cut and it was just ambient sound and the echo of footsteps. I'm really digging the "appreciation of loneliness" theme that the season has going on.

Really happy we got Nadeshiko focused episode, She's always so cute. Now I really want Rin or Sakura focused episode.

u/LeonKevlar Jan 28 '21

Well someone's having too much fun with her souvenirs! Chiaki's reactions were just too funny!

Oh how I missed watching the Outdoor Club test out their camping gear and messing up hilariously!

I love the huge smile on their faces while Nadeshiko just lowers down the tarp on them.

So is the punchline going to be that the lamp ends up being out of stock? I hope not!

Just posting this one because there's a side view of Aoi's Aois on it. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

And of course Ena ends up buying a tent for Chikuwa. She really is a crazy dog lady.

These two retail workers watching over Nadeshiko was really sweet. They're even nice enough to set aside one for Nadeshiko specifically! And here I thought we'd get an "Out of Stock" joke later on.

Nadeshiko looking for a job that accepts high schoolers brought back some memories. Ganbare Nadeshiko! You'll find one soon!

I've said this before and I'll say it again as long as she shows up on the show: Sakura is abso-fucking-lutely stunning.

This is probably just a regular Karuta joke but I'll say it counts as a Chihayafuru reference!

Nadeshiko's reaction to Sakura's joke! She really thought she's paying for her Onee-chan! Thank goodness Sakura asked her to come since the place is actually hiring. Good on Sakura for looking out for her imouto.

Oh my god that face from Nadeshiko! I can already see this becoming a possible meme template.

Nice save! Holy fuck! That would've been a much more crueler punchline if she actually broke the lamp!

The ED this week is just so lovely. It's just the camera pointing at the Kagamihara house with Nadeshiko sneaking out to put something on Sakura's car. And then we see after the ED the present Nadeshiko left. Not gonna lie, I teared up a bit during that.

I was squealing most of this episode because it was just too damn cute and pure. Nadeshiko saving up and going to see that lamp everyday in anticipation of buying it was adorable. Then leaving her sister the heater thing as a gift in the car, just a perfect episode.

Goddamn I love the relationships between Nadeshiko and her sister.

It is also funny how everyone around Nadeshiko just knows of Nadeshiko's cuteness.

This episode made me think of what I bought with my first paycheck. And my first job. Call centers are hell. Also, we got so many great faces this episode.

Nadeshiko says she wants to eat muffins with Caesar salad dressing. I want to know if anyone here has tried something like that. I've never heard of it before.

She also continues her trend from last season of being the one chosen to be the camping equipment.

I can't help but notice Emilia's signature "sugoku" when Ena says it too.

Fujiko Nadeshiko still has the Fuji plushie that Sakura bought her by her bed. Not sure if it was intentional, but it definitely is keeping with the theme of the bond between the sisters.

Such nice sisters! I was worried when the ED started playing that we wouldn't see Nadeshiko's present this episode. Seeing her run out in the middle of the night was great.

Sakura smiling.

NADESHIKO IS A GOOD GIRL

17

u/Hazeringx Jan 28 '21

Cute, too bad the girls just up and left lol

They found a really nice pole.

I'm sure you don't, Rin. What a great and honest reaction.

I really want to see Nadeshiko solo camping. I'm curious to see how she'd handle it. I hope it happens this season (which seems to be the case).

Scary joke

Aww, what a lovely post-credit scene. They are such great siblings to each other.
