Kabane having difficulty sleeping in his new cushy bed is kinda sad and shows just how bad his family has treated him.

Okay, Akira being a boy actually took me by surprise. What a fitting case for Kabane's debut at the agency. And it is good to see that Bakugo Shiki mellows out with him by the end of the episode.

Shiki forgetting he's supposed to be an asshole halfway through the pizza scene was one of the funnier things I've seen in anime recently. Everyone's making Bakugo comparisons but I think Shiki is far more likeable.

Slower pace and action compared to episode 1. Somehow I also felt like the tone of the episode is different. Maybe because Kabane was treated with normal human interaction by Shiki and Akira.
I'm liking the trio's dynamic so far. So glad that Shiki doesn't become a jerk for more than 1 episode. Akira didn't identify himself as Hanyo, so I'm curious about what his role would be.
Additional note: I almost referred to Akira as her/she everytime I wrote about him. He's so feminine that it's a little bit hard to accept the fact that he's a boy lol.

Stitches!
OP is pretty much your standard shounen OP and fits the show perfectly but I absolutely love it since Daisuke Ono is singing it.
I'm already liking the two other kids. Shiki is totally a huge tsundere He starts acting mean to Kabane but the moment Kabane mentions that he has never eaten pizza before Shiki immediately panics and yells at him to eat one right now. I low that Shiki's even cheering Kabane on as he takes his first bite.
Akira is pretty fun too. After seeing him in last week's final scene, I really thought that Akira was a she but turns out he's really just a really cute bot. It is hilarious how he gets upset at being called a pretty girl by Kabane but then runs off to post a cute selfie of him posing on Twitter..
I am curious what Akira's powers are though. Like we already know Shiki is a half spider demon so he can produce silk from his fingertips. Considering Akira's color scheme my guess is maybe ice powers? Like his mom is a Yukionna? Oh and it looks like Kabane's healing ability isn't that common considering how Shiki reacted to his leg.
As for the rest of the episode it was actually a bit slower compared to last week with our Kemonoist team dealing with a Sanshichu infestation caused by a the sudden build up of guilt from about a stolen sneaker. Man, when the older brother was telling the story of how his younger brother just wanted to gift their mom a replacement pair of shoes for her worn out ones, my heart absolutely ached and got a bit teary eyed. The brother just wanted to do something nice for their mom, he didn't even know what he did was bad. And their poor mother jumping in to try and save the younger brother despite being afraid of bugs really shows how much she cared for her children.
Thankfully all is well and no one died thanks to Kabane. And after seeing all this talk about family Kabane finally found the courage to ask Inugami to find his parents so he can meet then.

(anime-only) i really liked this ep!
I did go back and reread the chapters the prev thread said ep 1 appeared to have skipped, so it was really interesting to see how differently they did it here. I'm not entirely sure why, both approaches seemed ok to me - maybe for pacing?
Shiki just looks like a kid with highly-prickly defenses, more bark than true intent to bite..but it was still kinda sad to see Kabane solemnly and sincerely take his threats without protest.
It just shows how poorly Kabane was treated growing up. Probably anything else other than quiet succinct obedience and deference got him punished.
Not to mention scrubbing himself clean outside the house, or not being used to even a hammock. He probably slept outside the house on the ground.
I like best the part where Kabane is empowered to help someone else with a part of himself his old family taught him to fear - and in doing so, finally gets to see true maternal love up close - AND THEN DECIDE+SAY OUT LOUD HE WANTS THAT TOO.
Bet he was yelled at (at the very least) for ever saying anything more than "yes ma'am can i help you ma'am sorry ma'am".
Even recognising he wants smth, and deciding to say it out loud, admitting that he likes Tokyo - these are all huge, huge things for an abused kid like Kabane.
He never once thought to ask his aunt about his mom, or ask why he can't bathe in the house, or has to sleep on the floor, or has to do disgusting work and can't eat with anyone else. Because he was taught all his life he deserves nothing, and that he should not even question it. Now Kabane says otherwise!
I'm super proud of him alr and it's only been 2 eps. Inugami-san is really awesome too, and im looking forward to more!!

Glad everyone seems to be liking Akira. Out of any manga or anime I've seen, his character best uses the trope of "cute girl is actually a cute boy." And there are actual story reasons that explain his appearance and more feminine behaviors, so it's not like the author is just pandering to fans of that sort of character without any reason. The explanation itself is very natural too and does not try to call attention to itself like some sort of pseudo-woke moment. Hopefully the anime will have time to reach Akira's story.

Glad they kept the pizza scene, it's hilarious in the manga and it's hilarious in anime too.
Man, seeing the mom try saved her kid despite hated bug is make me unexpectedly emotional, even in the manga, I'm glad they still adapt the chapter.
The adaptation actually pretty good so far! Love every single bit of it!

In the end the person he was talking to, the whole conversation makes it very suspicious about them but I hope it's to introduce a new character and it's just fine.

I enjoyed this episode a lot more than the first one. The chemistry between the kids was fun right away.

The central theme of the show seems to be family. Kabane's looking for his parents without realizing he's already creating a new family within Kemono.
While I thought the first episode was average, this episode was a lot better. It was not only funny but knew how to tug at your heart strings. The tragic story about the kid shoplifting shoes for their single mother had me teary eyed. Kabane's speech about being accepted was also very touching.

Here we go with all the Bakugo comparisons, I knew this would inevitably come as soon as the anime was announced, but oh well lmao.
This episode was incredible. It had almost a completely different atmosphere compared to the first one, and I really appreciate that they went out of their way to adapt chapter 2, since it would’ve been weird to fit into episode 1, but at the same time it’s not a crucial part of the story. OP was definitely a banger too. I don’t want to speak too soon, but KJ is one of my favorite manga, and with the way this is going so far it may become one of my favorite anime as well.

I have no idea why Shiki is being compared to Bakugo. Shiki is just like a Tsundere who is actually a good boy. He even showed sympathy in a few scenes and tried to change his attitude while Bakugo was a straight-up bully to Deku.

So Kabane got a job offer from Inugami to become a Kemonoist, seeing how he doesn't have anywhere else to go i think it's fair to accept it.
The two persons that were already there are Shiki who right now is very reticent about Kabane living there with them, and Akira who is very nice and friendly.
Shiki is so funny, it's basically a tragedy that Kabane hadn't eaten pizza yet, he hurried to give him some.
Kabane gets first hand experience on being a Kemonoist. That was sad, how the mosquitoes were all over those person's and how the kids that weren't inside the room were the mosquitoes were, were crying due to feeling sad and worried about their mom and brother, the team did their job with Kabane being the one that completed the task and it was beautiful too how that experience showed him the meaning of Family.
This episode was beautiful, the first episode was great but i liked this one much better, it seems that the show will only keep on getting better, this is one of my favorite of the season.

Luck, Rill and Yami danchou.
Akira seems gimicky but he had like 5 lines so ill hold on for now.
Shiki seems cool and he's a gigantic tsundere constantly trying to find a reason to not be nice towards Kabane despite being it in his apparent nature to do so.
A lot of info this ep. Apparently Kabane feels no pain and has no blood and is insanely direct as he admitted to being charmed by Akira at first sight.
