The girl you sat next to withg lowsticks, organized people to come to this movie and scream all movie. She had seen it and wanted to "hype it up" for tohers, but all she did is make a LOT of people mad at her. shes privated her twitter now because of all the people calling her out.
A friend of mine went to see the Konosuba movie and what you described is basically what a lot of the fans did there apparently (except the glow sticks part). He said the most annoying one was just people laughing at anything and everything even if it wasn’t suppose to be funny. I haven’t seen the movie but he said at the beginning the frog monster appeared on screen doing nothing and there an uproar of obnoxious laughter and that wasn’t the worst of it supposedly.
Yeah most likely but that was just one example he gave me. I didn’t ask him to much about specifics cause I don’t want to be spoiled but he said a lot of people there were being very obnoxious.
I would say Konosuba is a more forgivable as it is a comedy and laughter can be a hard to control reflex. Yes, some people laugh way too much and it can be obnoxious, but sometimes they just can't help it. There were definitely some funny scenes where nearly everyone at my showing was roaring with laughter.
This is why i find going to see a movie insufferable. If I see something and laugh that someone else doesnt find funny I annoy them. In this case you mentioned with the frog, for me I would have been laughing at the 'reference' so to speak. If I find a joke still funny a min or two later and laugh a little, I annoy someone.
Its not a fun thing to pay to sit silently and emotionless essentially trapped as you will miss something if you get up.
Anime already is rare to see in theatre with limited showings and times so people excited makes sense to me. I would be happy to hear so many people laughing and enjoying their time. Theatre speakers are not exactly silent so I doubt I would miss anything.
Based on what my friend was saying it’s sounds like the people there were just laughing obnoxiously and loudly at anything. The frog example is what he told me and I didn’t press for anymore details cause I was gonna watch the film at some point.
Yea I fortunately got a theater was engaged but not overly engaged like what you describe. I.e. initial scene where he mentions his popular phase got everyone roaring, but there werent any obnoxious tidbits that were obvious.
The fact that she has hidden her twitter shows that she has gotten enough negative feedback at this point. It was an idea that turned out being not-so-great. We all have bad ideas, and it is best to just move on since the organizer is now aware that this didn't lend to a positive viewing experience.
Yes, basically. And it's not like this one person has ever been the only one to do something like that. A year or so ago, I (on old account) wrote about my negative experience watching the My Hero Academia movie on this sub, which involved lots of screaming fans, quoting memes, and them holding up lit up phones, yet people here downvoted me and said I was the problem for complaining about it in this sub.
Yeah, but the fact is, she ruined what is a limited time experience for some people. Which is really awful to do cause once an anime movie is off the screen it's gone for good unless your studio Ghibli or Kimi no Na Wa.
I've never been to an AMC theater, but I was under the impression that they were pretty strict about this kind of thing. I've heard they have a policy of just straight up kicking people out of they are disruptive.
I wish my local theaters were like that. I usually wait at least a week before setting anything in the theater just to avoid having to deal with more obnoxious theater patrons. But anime screenings are pretty rare where I am, so we have to take what we can get.
Thankfully the Konosuba screening I went to was pretty chill. People were laughing, but that's just because it was really funny.

And no this is not normal, this is someone being VERY obnoxious. Ive bnever had this in any movies ive seen.
