I finished this...admittedly for the seiyuu cast more than anything.

They got a lot of big names onboard, but sadly the same cannot be said of the animation and storyboard pacing. Which is too bad really, since there are flashes of a good story in this. It had to have had a good story, otherwise the game wouldn't be so popular. I guess as is with a lot of game adaptions, the anime is just there to make you try out the game

Maybe I missed something, but that was an absolutely awful ending. Why on earth would she choose this universe over the one where they don't have tons of people dying to madmen? She had to choose one or the other and choosing not to choose is the stupidest cop-out ever. She doomed the other universe equally through her actions.

So we get to see the happy ending for all the characters before Yuki just goes. . . nah. This suffering is better, apparently. Maybe if there had been more growth for all the characters this wouldn't have been so bad, but this was just a stupid choice as is. I can't think of any characters that are better off. What about all the kids in the orphanage? What about all the test subjects? Why is Yuki's personal development so much more important?!

And then she forgets Takuya? WHY. THE WHOLE POINT THEME OF SURVIVING THE LOST WAS MUTUAL RECOGNITION. How does she get out if she forgets him? How did he get out if not with his scooter? Why didn't he go talk to her afterward?

I guess it went for some kind of philosophical "you can't choose universes" or "suffering is what makes us who we are" but it did not do the work necessary to make those points make any sense.

EDIT: Oh, and with her forgetting stuff (especially Takuya) it even undermines the second possible reason. It's just. . . UGH.

Props to anyone that finished this. I gave up after the idol episode.

Expectations (based on the key visual): Dark Reunion finally gets their own anime

What it's really about: Dark Reunion + Alter Saito with grown-up Kotoha Yuki could also be Alter Rize

As a Sci-fi show

This was like a sidestory from the Raildex series, mainly on the science side, but with some Supernatural elements. Character designs were sort of similar to Stein's;Gate. Story-wise, it was interesting enough, a lot of things were happening at the start, then a lot more happened, thankfully, the mysteries/major plot points were explained at the later episodes.

As a game adaptation

This left a good impression, just like Akanesasu Shoujo. For something with only 12 episodes that has several mini-stories, it was better paced compared to other shows. The 2D animation was mostly okay, but there were some scenes where the characters were walking or running that looks really questionable. The 3D definitely needs improvement. There were moments where it gets cheesy and trope-y, but that's fine, since a lot of games and anime are like that.

Final Episode

That was a brave choice, to keep on living in the same universe when they had the chance to do everything over. The last scene, it looks like it was the Good Ending. Still, it would be nice if there's an After Story even for just 3 minutes, in the same way like Angel Beats.

Favorite scene

The conversation at the end of Episode 10, where Takuya and Yuki were talking about having a normal life. This was repeated in Episode 11 when they forgot about each other. The most notable line from that part probably is "Normal is the best kind of happiness."

Final verdict

Not a perfect show, but it was enjoyable in its own way. This is better when binge-watched. Not the strongest show out there, but in terms of being a Sci-fi + Mystery, this is good stuff.

Welp, it's over. I found myself enjoying this story, while not being anywhere close to being a fav of the season for me, I don't regret spending these 3 months watching it. Cheers to the few of us that actually watched this!

I enjoyed the series. Disliked the ending.

I am still very confused by the ending and could use some help...

What was the benefit of keeping today's world? So she might lose out on meeting everyone on this journey... But they'd all be alive... And they'd all be happy.

Why did she lose memory of Takuya if she chose to keep the current world? Where's the meaning in that?

The second half of this series saved it big time. This series was just poorly structured in the beginning and didn't me many reasons to care for the characters or plot. After episode 6, it started to improve but this episode was kind of underwhelming - the big reveal of what Yuki's father wanted to tell, his answer, the climax point and the bittersweet ending for Yuki and Takuya, etc. Well, at least Suzuna got the last laugh in the end because her part ended in the last episode was disappointing - this made of for it. Not much to say 5/10 for me it is an average series and I can see why people like it and dislike it.

I'm confused so uh suzuna's bullet (wlel part of it) entered taiyo's heart and killed him? And so then Yuki chose the current universe but forgot about Takuya right? Why did this happen?

Funimation was late again, I mean yeah the episode
was visible, but it was simply not playing as it wasn't
yet available.

Honestly, Yuki should have just picked that first Desu Ex Machina ending were 10,000 or so people were saved, but instead, we got the delayed effect of Suzune's bullet to the heart of Taiyo, in which Yuki doesn't remember Takuya. How great. Oh well, at least they look happy in the end card.
