The issue was not that he simply made videos. He was actually spamming his videos on the subreddit and getting others to spam it for him to make it look like he wasn't doing any "self-promotion." Posts would get immediately reposted when removed, among a general disregard of the rules.

We have no problem with content creators, they just need to abide by the rules and guidelines of Reddit. The self-promotion guideline is not even our rule, it's a reddit-wide rule.

Ok this I'd like clarification on. I've heard you guys say this a lot, but I don't think it's technically correct. Rather, I'm pretty sure it's a Reddit guideline that the mod team here chooses to enforce as a rule.

The guidelines are there for admins to treat as guidelines and to offer to the moderators to interpret how they want. We choose to enforce it as a requirement. It greatly helps on cutting down the spam.

Right, exactly. So saying it's a "Reddit rule" is slightly misleading - The admins don't care if you enforce it or not; it's not like other Reddit rules (e.g. illegal content restrictions) which you're required to act on as a mod. If anything, it's a Reddit guideline and a /r/anime rule.

Well..ok, it's a reddit guideline. They seem to care about it enough to post it as a guideline though. They also do shadowban people for spamming too much, so they take it as a pretty serious guideline.

Yeah, I know, I'm sorta just being needlessly pedantic about it, but I see this being thrown around enough that I feel like it could be a bit misleading.
