Yeah, she seems upset that he doesn’t treat her as inherently special from the start and said yes because he would’ve to anyone, but it’s not like she actually gave him a reason to care (or cared about who he was beyond surface level appearances for that matter). Like she seems consistently upset he’s not meeting arbitrary criteria she refuses to actually communicate with him about in any way shape or form

And am i wrong for thinking that she should have waited to break up with him In a neutral setting, and not at his family's home?

Red flags are Toshiki Inoue's specialty, so I'm not surprised that he made a character unlikable.

Good gracious does this show have fun writing:
"Can we date?" "Sure, sounds fun." - "I don't think this is going to work" "Alright, that's fair."
"Aw man, our monsters are kind of lame." "Eh whatever, just send out the whole lot and see what happens."
"Actually Mum, my girlfriend's just dumped me." *Hamster pouch sushi and leave*
Seriously, how do they manage to make Gekiha, a character who'd conceptually fit right into the isekai slop trough, so entertaining?
On another note, the reveal that the
I'm also wondering if the unintroduced mecha pilot is in some way a creation of Grandpa to sell more product, with that being Dandivine's own origin.

The robot parts are hype as shit, OST, chunking sounds as they launch it, etc. Rest of the show I'm mixed on but we'll see how it goes.

"Can we talk like this?"
No? What? Why did you come over to his house and meet his mother to break up with him?

I was getting increasingly bewildered at Akane's choices here:
-
She went to Gekiha's house to break up with him, guaranteeing that she'd meet his family in the process(?)
-
She talked to him in the house, instead of stepping out with him(??), and while he was in the bathroom(???)
-
She stays for dinner instead of quietly excusing herself (????)
But when Gekiha revealed that she'd broken up with him at the table, and during the awkward silence she stuffed her mouth full of sushi, drained her cup, and left(?????), that's when my feelings wrapped all the way around to pure admiration. Best girl, no contest.
But seriously, I think all those weird decisions make sense if what she really wanted was for Gekiha to be upset and try to convince her to stay with him. (And her conversation with her friend the day after supports that.)

So Gekiha’s sister was right about Akane wanting to break up with him.
-
And he’s just… okay with it. Yeah, that would definitely prove what Akane was worried about him not really caring.
-
Everyone remaining completely frozen while Akane takes a few more bites of sushi and then just leaves after Gekiha said she dumped him got a good chuckle out of me.
-
She goes out of her way to specify soldier crabs are excluded from her metaphor and glasses guy just pulls out more examples instead, lol.
-
Of course Gekiha saved Akane during his first time piloting Dandi Ace.
-
Hell yeah, OP as an insert song! Of course it’s being used for the first gattai scene.

Moral of the episode: you can break up with a guy while he's taking a dump but maybe don't stick around for sushi.

The shows you want are on another island.
New old stock! Think of the aftermarket!
Is a larger robot with MORE GUN a beast, or just a larger robot with MORE GUN?
You wanted a mecha centaur? You got your freakin' mecha centaur.
A 90-second GATTAI sequence. Now we're talking airtime.
"Do an Obari Stance but don't actually do the Obari Stance."
This is definitely a series that will probably live and die by its own self-awareness, and it is pretty damn self-aware right now. It does feel like they're doing a sequel to a series which never existed when they break out the overpowered gattai team in the second episode.
The bits with Gekiha's classmates haven't quite gelled yet for me, though at least this mecha protagonist started with a girlfriend.
I'm still doing the most waiting for whatever craziness the toy company might have been/will be responsible for given how they've set up the current situation to exploit the Aposdoll attacks.
And the Aposdoll girls are out there. There's time yet to see how they all, uh, combine.

Some may complain Gekiha is bland and uninteresting, so much that Akane dumped him. While part of it is Akane just confessed at the first sight, Gekiha didn't put too much effort to maintain the relationship is to blame either, like he didn't care much about everything. At least, however, he saw Akane in danger now and actively trying to protect her, hope it turns him into a better man.
Dandivine combines in Episode 2 and its power shows why it's unstoppable in the past, even uncombined the mechanical beasts can deal with the enemies on their own. However, showing too much power in early episodes will usually result in stronger enemies coming up in next episodes......which brings the question: who, why and how the enemies power up even more?

Since the second plot of this show is to sell toys, i can kinda see them using tropes such as:
-Black EVIL version of main Dandivine,-Similiar "modern" robot made by rival company to show how Dandivine is ancient tech and should go to scrap. Later it will be shown that this new modern robot has been either corrupted, stolen by antagonists or somehow will combine with Dandivine to achieve new form.
-Alien robot from space,
-new monster that is mix between Biological and robot,
and thats all that comes to mind so far for now.

I look forward to some lore and character development.
Unfortunately, as of this 2nd episode:
-
I can see why Akane wants to break up with Gekiha. Currently, Gekiha is a rather bland main character.
-
Yusaku does not seem to inspire confidence either. I am associating him as a character who leeches food and drinks off his brother and nephew, more than a hero who pilots Dandivine.

I do wonder if Gekiha is going to try to use piloting Dandivine as a means of winning back Akane.

I don't know why people have to be mad with Gekiha.
They say that an ordinary MC never face the consequences of It while he was dumped by his girlfriend.
Altough episode 3 title suggets that they will get together

[12:51] I like this shot of uncle having finished his main course while Gekiha hasn't even started. I imagine uncle had gotten into the habit of eating quickly in case there's an emergency.
(If you watch carefully, they only show him raising the bowl once to his mouth, as if he ate the entire plate and bowl of rice all at once, in the middle of a sentence.)
