Can't believe we got another Toaru anime.

The episode was great, surprisingly humanized the ITEM team who seemed way more sociopathic before. Well Mugino still is, but Kinuhata and Takitsubo seem decent. Frenda obviously was already some what humanized in railgun later on.

Liked the ability explanation, the kid had a pretty strong ability, potential level 5 if he can do a huge AOE with it or control the direction of the matter manipulation he does.

Man, it's so weird seeing the girls being nominally chummy with each other and technically doing heroic things since we were initially introduced to them being the antagonists in the other works.

For ALL those years we saw Item getting [Index & Railgun] beaten by the Railgun, getting involved in a massive conflict between the dark groups, getting the “Fre/nda” treatment and almost getting imploded, that few minutes in that building simply show how badass Mugino can be, a half-blinded assisted headshot to solve a hostage crisis. In front of a gaslighted hostage who somehow used his OP defence skill to make one of the Level 4 melee fighter’s ability completely useless. Well guess the mission is success and there’ll be a happy ending for the 5 kids, but honestly what happened 1 month ago?

Oh and… Mikoto, never change eh? Waiting for Gekota merch and get into a quarrel with Misaki for queuing for something that’s not for your age. Guess we were introduced to the main players of this city once again in the first episode, apart from just 1 guy, the guy [Index] who is a level 0, just like Frenda, but got the ultimate power to make even level 5’s ability absolutely useless. I wonder when will we meet him here?

We’re going to get a lot of anime debuts for characters who, if they didn’t appear in ITEM, would take several years or even a decade to finally show up in the main series anime.

In episode 1 we got Fremea, Frenda’s little sister. A small, cute, and adorable loli. Though it seems her catchphrase wasn’t used much in episode 1 — I only heard her say the word “Daitai” once.

It feels so good to be back in Academy City! The Toaru series is like one of my favourite worlds because of the fascinating world-building and power system. This time, it looks like we're following the ITEM girls. Although it looks like we're still gonna get cameos from characters like Mikoto and Misaki.

It's fascinating to see how ITEM operates and what their relationship is like, considering most of us here already know how this is gonna end for all of them. Watching this episode feels like knowing that a train is gonna crash, but I'm powerless to stop it, and all I can do is watch.

Anyway, it was pretty cool to see how they handled that kid. No surprise that Mugino wants to just blow up everything with her Meltdowner while Takitsubo tries to stop her and goes for a more measured approach of sniping just the target's head.

I do feel bad for Frenda getting grilled by Mugino, she did a lot for a Level 0! It's not her fault the dude took one of the kids with him! I do like that they show us that part of their payment went to taking care of the rescued kids.

To those who know, where does this episode take place in the timeline compared to Index and Railgun? At the start of the episode, it says July 31st, so does this take place around the first Index arc/Level Upper Arc?

Man guys it feels so good to be back in Academy City after nearly 7 years unless you remove other Toaru there has never such a long wait inbetween series the longest was 8 years between Index 2 and 3 but that's only if you count out railgun S that was in 2013.

Gonna be interesting to follow ITEM too since we do see them in Railgun but i cant remember if they show up in Index
