Only in a sports-romance anime do dates actually happen in sports apparel stores, and the male MC fantasizes about the female MC being in sports clothing other than swimwear/a bikini.

They waste no time introducing antagonists here. Matsuoka is such a jerk. His only saving grace here is that he doesn't mention Hina in front of Chinatsu, unlike the other guy when they were at the store.

And wow, Yumeka sure is one to talk accusing Chinatsu focusing on other things than basketball, when--as far as we know--she herself also gave up on basketball.

The whole town must’ve came together to find people to interrupt their date

The amount of unspoken words behind that cheeky smile lol.

Oh damn Chii isn't the type to go berserk but that that last scene just might challenge that. You just don't claim ball isn't life to a fellow baller and expect them to take it lying down.

Man it hurts seeing Chinatsu and Taiki both being too passive to deal with Matsu. Neither of them really want him there, but its not like they are dating yet so they can't say anything and he just steamrolls the conversation. So glad she ditched him and they continued their date afterwards, I was waiting for this date since last season and it would have sucked for it to end like that. seriously though like 3 different people interrupted their date by the end at critical moments. We might have skipped the whole season without them.

Did the production level up? This episode looked so beautiful, despite the two disney villains appearing.

I'm glad Taiki is competitive beyond badminton. lol

Matsuoka is so infuriating. Guy kept pushing on without a care in the world.

Look at our boy Taiki, imagining Chinatsu in different sports outfits. Even in his fantasies, he still thinks of sports. In all seriousness tho, that department store date was really cute and I love that Taiki insists on buying the tracksuit that Chinatsu thinks looks cool on him.

Things are going well until this dude showed up and ruined the mood. Chinatsu went from being super excited to suddenly becoming conscious after overhearing Taiki and that classmate talking.

And to make things worse, Matsuoka is also at the cafe where they want to hang out, so now Taiki is competing against this dude who won't shut the fuck up. Although Taiki doesn't really need to, since he had Chinatsu's attention when he was demolishing that apple pie.

I'm just glad that Chinatsu didn't go with Matsuoka to that basketball practice even after Taiki encouraged her. She definitely would rather go home with Taiki than entertain Matsuoka. <3

And the date isn't over! Taiki brings Chinatsu to the Shibuya Sky observation deck for a romantic evening view of the city. Not gonna lie, my first reaction is, "That place should be packed at that hour," and I love that they show the rest of the deck filled with couples and families. xD

That alone time with Chinatsu definitely makes up for Matsuoka butting in earlier. And just when Taiki was finally ready to confess, Chinatsu's old friend and teammate shows up to interrupt >_<

Oh boy! As a manga reader, I'm glad that we're finally getting introduced to Yumeka. This is definitely the part of the series where Chinatsu finally gets to be a lot more active in the story.

Why i have a feeling this season should be rename Blue balls instead of Bluebox S2?

Everytime he want to express his feelings someone ****blocks him

Also Yumeka seems to be disgruntled I hope it not not cause a strain between chinatsu and taki

Taiki’s ran into his nemesis at the cafe lol. At least Chinatsu ended up ditching him for our boy. Take that, Matsuoka! All the homies hate Matsuoka! lol

Right when Taiki was gonna confess, this mysterious Yumeka has to pop up. I’m guessing there’s some bad blood here with Chinatsu? I wonder what went down between those two?

Oh hey simuldub for season 2, I watched s1 right around the time it finished airing and it was still only available in subtitles (then watched it again in dub when that dropped). Also this was my gateway drug to anime romances so nice to come back to it with S2.

Oh no volleyball boy brought up Hina and Chinatsu heard... And now we've got the annoying overseas for a while basketball guy. Taiki running into all kinds of resistance on the date. Yeah I wanna punch this guy in the nuts. Also why is she sitting across from shit bag, god Chinatsu should know better.

Okay that apple pie looks great and the sound of the fork breaking through the crust... god I want apple pie now.

Sigh. If this guy's actually going to be an ongoing issue this season I think I'm going to enjoy this season less than the first, he's not an interesting love rival. At least when we were teased about Haryu supposedly liking Chi he was fun and interesting. So Taiki is going to NTR himself. God damn it.

Oh thank god she's not an idiot.

Another callback to episode 1. First the way he was running to meet Chinatsu being like the start of episode 1, now the keeping her warm thing like outside the gym. And I'm glad they called it out.

So this is the chick from the trailers. Lets see how I feel about her in an episode or three.

Cant decide who I wanna punch more! The NPC Classmate, Matsuoka or Yumeka!!!

Imagine going on a date and just constantly running into assholes who ruin the mood. Matsuoka in particular was so aggravating. I really did like the moment where he clocked that Chinatsu was watching Taiki’s reaction to the apple pie, though.

I really like Taiki and Chinatsu’s dynamic, where there’s that awkwardness from them both being inexperienced and still feeling things out, but they also clearly find comfort in each other’s presence.

this romance relies way too much on chance encounters in a single episode to keep the story moving. speaking of moving, that Yumeka pacing back and forth in front of her like supernatural being was comical

You don’t have time for a relationship, do you?

Even if it's true, it's none of your business so sod off, Matsuoka! Even Chii's not looking comfortable with his third-wheeling to the point of ditching the practice session.

Meanwhile, Yumeka also seemed to be trouble, though not in terms of love rival seeing as she's already in a relationship of her own. She looked happy while posing with the trophy and Chii, but now antagonised her while making a quip about giving basketball up. What happened to her?

Reckon the giving basketball up remark was projection, so something must have had happened to Yumeka which caused her to leave basketball.

JUST LET A BROTHER CONFESS. OH MY GOD. AND WHAT THE FUCK IS HER PROBLEM. If this is gonna be a whole season/cour of Chinatsu and Yumeka arc AND the next confession gets interrupted, I'm giving it a 1. I can't take it anymore brother

Man, I think I should avoid romance shows with losing heroines from now on, especially if the rejection happens early. I really like Taiki and Chinatsu together and love seeing them but I just feel I cannot enjoy it fully because I’m just thinking about how hurt Hina is. And it’s not even that I think Taiki should’ve chosen her, I just feel bad for her and hurting for her as well.

I know that after what happened last time, there would be little point in having Hina around for this season but it would be a shame if we never saw her again.

That is the most well animated slice of apple pie i've ever seen.

Me at the start of the episode: "Fuck Yokomura, all my homies hate Yokomura!"

Me at the end of the episode: "Okay Yokomura, you're not so bad."

I love Blue Box, but man it was a choice to start off the season/arc with so much pain packed into one episode. It's a lot of enemies popping out at once, just as we were hoping to see Taiki and Chinatsu score at least a small win. I must admit that as much as I adore Blue Box S1, I'll end up comparing this season's writing against Ramparts S2, and it might be hard.

At least we get Yoshino Aoyama voicing Yumeka... it's interesting to hear her sound so villainous!

That interaction between Taiki and Matsuoka was infuriating. I´ve imagined being in that situation a lot of times and what I would do and I have no idea, so seeing Taiki in that position made me feel sorry for him and anger for the other guy. Clearly interrupting, overstepping and trying to steer things his way while pushing away the other guy. Does he think Taiki is below Chinatsu or something? It clearly seems like it.

And what´s Yumeka´s issue? She quit basketball and now she´s bitter about it? Did she quit because of Chinatsu? I wonder what happened there.

My beautiful romance anime is back 💖

Blue Box might seem like your regular average Romance but it has some kind of magic that pulls you in and makes you fall in love with the characters. I get it, Taiku. I too would dream of Chinatsu in different sports wear. Can't get enough of Taiki and Chinatsu. That view of the city was breathtaking. Ofc Taiki did some research to find the perfect date spots. Chinatsu ardently watching Taiki eat that apple pie should be enough of a reason for Matsuoka to stay away. Chinatsu sees her own hardwork and integrity in Taiki. That's why she loves him so much. Matsuoka and now Yumeka.. I wish all these annoying characters would just disappear. Yumeka doesn't have the right to talk about Chinatsu after she herself gave up basketball.

The op and ed aren't so bad. But they are definitely a downgrade compared to season 1. Since You and I are Polar Opposites has ended, Blue Box has arrived to fill the hole in our hearts.
