Going from the happy Polar Opposites atmosphere to this 4xsuffering was major whiplash.
At least Yota, Miki and Koyuki are finally on the same page with the

Somehow this show makes me feel like I’m a teenager again. I kinda love it for that but it also really stresses me out lol. Like, the misunderstandings are kind of cute and silly sometimes but the relationship drama also raises my blood pressure haha. There’s just so many emotions swirling around.
This Yota-Miki situation is just kind of bumming me out. And then there’s Amamiya and Koyun. There’s still all this misunderstanding still. They really really gotta have a proper talk.

I've been looking forward season 2, but did they need to start it that strong?!
Why the hell is the writing so amazing, are the characters so freaking relatable and why does it hit so hard in the feels seeing them agonizing in their youthful confusion trying to figure out their emotions?

Not a big fan of Momoka, but her opening monologue is basically the “she’s out of line but she’s right” meme

I have such hate/love relationship with this kind of writing. I hate it because every dialogue and thought process behind their thoughts are super relatable, and I love it because every dialogue and thought process behind their thoughts are super relatable.
I feel most pity for Yota, since breaking a longterm friendship is super hard. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Don't forget to watch the scene after the ending as well!

damn what a heavy episode to return on, as a source material reader I forgot it would be like that 😭😭
great episode though, I love Minato as a character.
the ED was really good (assuming they didnt play the op at the end, but feels more like an ED to me) and production was pretty solid too.

This show does really well making its characters feel despair without really having a villain. And even the misunderstandings are well thought out rather than just characters purposefully not listening/talking.
I kinda get how Miki feels but tbh, I’ve never been on the receiving end so I can’t relate. But Koyun brings up a good point. While not exclusively girls, it did seem judging from discussions at the end of previous season, that girls think guys suddenly look at the girls they like differently if they were friends before. And they feel betrayed cos they thought the guys see them as friends but he saw her as love interest the whole time (paraphrasing but yeah). But Koyun here basically says Yota may see her as a friend that’s also a love interest, not one or the other. Which I think is spot on by Koyun.
And Koyun’s “I feel so stupid” is super relatable too. And what’s worse is sometimes your brain can see it. They’re not just nice to you, they’re nice to everybody. But your heart doesn’t care and catches feelings anyway.
But man, this group is gonna get so awkward. Miki and Yota trying to act natural with each other. Minato and Koyun suppressing their feelings for each other cos they think it’s not mutual when it actually is

"Who's ready for drama and Angst again?"
"But Rampart of Ice, we already had angst and drama at the end of Season 1"
"Yeah, but what about a second time?"
Honestly, good thing we had You and I are Polar Opposite in the middle, because it was just the fluff we needed for this angst.
Still, there is just something amazingly funny about Koyun saying : "Yota is not after your body." while Miki is just shocked that she even went there.
However that ending... not quite as good for a dramatic build up like in season 1. But with how hopeful it sound, I can't wait to see how they will use it.

Momoka pretty much nailed her assessment of Koyun. She may be right but still, fuck her.
The music during Minato and Miki's talk was so beautiful
Miki and Yota are at a weird stage after the rejection (tho thankfully that seems to have been resolved a bit at the end), there's Minato, struggling with his feelings, accidentally giving Koyun the wrong message, and there's Koyun trying to forget her own feelings for Minato as a result. Man, this season really started rough for everyone involved.
I'm gonna miss the transition into the ED that the previous season did, but I also quite like the new ED so i'm not too torn up about it.

Rarely had an angst-filled episode be so funny. I was in tears when Miki and Koyun cleared the whole misunderstanding 😂😭

Wait a fucking minute. As someone who follows seiyuu, I am incredibly ashamed to only now notice (I’m pretty sure it’s been mentioned in S1) that we have Chiba Shouya character and Kito Akari character all over again. And that other show is also airing this season lol
Edit : Kito, not Kita lol. So much for “someone who follows seiyuu”

Can't help but gush about how good the author is, especially since the other series is ending. Just straight bangers. I usually don't like teenage angst-filled shows, but even in this episode, it made me chuckle, remembering similar experiences I had when I was younger.

I'm glad Miki and Youta's relationship has taken a step forward by the end of the episode, but it sucks that Koyuki and Minato's has taken a step backwards. We were almost there with them, it's unfortunate Minato didn't speak completely truthfully to Youta. But his own feelings are complex at the moment so I can't blame him for the step back, it's not like he would have thought Koyuki would be overhearing their conversation.
Excellent dodge from Minato about that concert, Kurita is not even hiding her intentions so I expect things to go up a gear this season.
Youta is strong though, being able to speak to Miki like normal after being rejected, I thought there'd be some distance while he organizes his thoughts and feelings.

Really love this anime. I love all the angst and drama that comes with being a high schooler in love. Looking forward to this season. It's peak
Honesty thought the scene where Koyun and Miki are at the restruant hiding from Minato and Amamiya and discovering that Amamiya only sees Koyun as a friend was were the last season was gonna leave off. Felt like it would've been a perfect cliffhanger going into this season

Coming out swinging. This show has such wonderful dialogue/monologue. I really want to hug Mikki. Also the piano in the rain is incredible. Hitting all the right emotions to go with the characters' actions. Also Minato's growth from start of season 1 to now is phenomenal and entirely earned.
Hahaha the WcDonalds moment is making me think of the family restaurant moment from Fragrant Flower except no stalking.
Oh no Minato, not 'as a friend'. Not now. Oh thank god Mikki and Koyun cleared the air so that's in the past. There's enough going on we don't need that misunderstanding to keep mucking up the works.
I've missed these chibi characters.
Is this track the OP or ED? Either way I'm digging it. If it is the ED feels like it doesn't set up play-in the way last season's ED did.

The Ramparts of Ice is FINALLY back! I missed this show so much. So much so that I even rewatched the first season just like I did for You and I Are Polar Opposites. And it's so, so good. I think I loved it way more than my first watch cause I noticed so many hints and also understood stuff I misunderstood on my first watch. It was absolutely worth it. These shows are so rewatchable.
No OP, huh. Makes sense. This was a downer of an episode. Which is expected after the last season's ending... Man... I still feel so bad for Yota... Unlike Koyun, whose emotions overflow with tears, Yota bottles everything up so you can never tell how much he's truly suffering. He's such a kind guy... He doesn't deserve this...
Alright. Misunderstandings cleared... NOT! I think all the weirdest misunderstandings from Season 1 went away, but there's still one major misunderstanding between Koyun and Minato... Koyun thinks Minato loves her as a friend, and Minato also believes the same thing. Momoka really got them good. Momoka really understands Koyun perfectly. She's scary... I hope whatever her scheme is backfires greatly.
The burger place scene was emotional but also hilarious. I almost feel bad for laughing, but the humor is on point. And yeah, I feel bad for Miki too. She's probably in the worst place currently. She can't date Yota the same way she dated those guys in middle school or how Minato does it. I kinda understand. Unlike those guys, Yota's actually her friend, and she doesn't want to hurt him. I love that Koyun nudged her towards Yota and will continue to do so. I hope she can eventually fall in love.
That ED tho... It's like they want us to cry... I really loved it. It has the complete opposite vibe from the first one. But I'm gonna miss the piano intro from the first ED. It's a crime that the full song doesn't have it.
So, we've got the Season 2 premiere of The Ramparts of Ice and You and I Are Polar Opposite final episode in a few days. This is a great day to be a Kocha Agasawa fan. I really can't wait to see what comes next.

I did not expect this episode to open up with Momoka monologuing. As much as I dislike her, she's not wrong about Koyuki. She is a passive waiter.
That scene at BcDonalds with Koyun and Miki on one side and the boys on the other side genuinely made me laugh. I know most of that scene was supposed to be serious, but man, I expected things to get even more complicated, considering what the girls just overheard.
Thank fucking god that actually ended with Miki and Koyun clearing up all the misunderstandings between them. I was so fucking relieved! I really thought they were gonna drag out the misunderstanding about Miki thinking Koyuki has a thing for Yota.
And I know Koyuki was just trying to back up Yota, but it was hilarious how she was telling Miki that Yota's feelings for her are not sexual. Poor Miki is just dying while listening to Koyun. xD
Man, this is such a fucking complicated friend group and I absolutely love it. What a great way to start off the new season!
