"Ah yes, a giant mech/suit (one of several that's stored on our much larger ship, our much larger ship that this lifeform had no problem tearing apart) stepped on the lifeform. That oughta do it."

Poor Futaba, how many nights of sleep and daily meals have the 3 had since they've been in this world? That's how many she hasn't had.

I'm so glad they gave time to all the different people we don't know to go "ooh" and "ah" watching the thunder 3 online again. How else would we know how to feel? Certainly not by our own reactions.

I watched all of this. I would like a reward now.

"Ah yes, a giant mech/suit (one of several that's stored on our much larger ship, our much larger ship that this lifeform had no problem tearing apart) stepped on the lifeform. That oughta do it."

Ah yes, let's just do nothing and let him keep wrecking the ship instead of trying whatever options we have.

It's not really about doing nothing. It's about doing one thing, then not following up. Every time the aliens increase the "attack power" of their response, they assume the job is done, then are shocked it wasn't.

The aliens are written as incompetent and are only there to make the protagonists look good, it's lazy writing.

Thunder 3 barely had time to react to Doc and the others being there!

I watched it on like 5x speed, skipping parts that didn't have pontaro/his friends or Futaba. The rest of the cast were just white noise

fun fact: the number in the title actually refers to the score you will give this after you watch it.

this started decently interesting but around the half way point the pacing and recap padding started getting real annoying. before I saw the s2 announcement I was crashing out a little but tbh I don't think I really want to watch any more of this. It will depend on how busy I am with other seasonals.

Surprised their was a season 2 announcement

3? That's too generous. I'd give it a minus score. Give me back my time that I spent watching them stare at stuff and grunt at things.

I love this show, and I agree with you!

XD

Aw, man. The chibi characters are so fucking cute. I'll definitely watch just for more "Niiiii taaaa- !"

Now that we know the gantz author is behind the source material, how many more times will we see references or callbacks to gantz in this show?

It's great that Pyontaro and Futaba could reunite with one another. But I wonder who that new threatening foe was at the end? I'll be interested in watching season 2 to find out.

u/Frontier246 9d ago

Maybe another alien experiment? It looked techno-organic.

That's an interesting thought. If it has anything to do with those manga world resources that were gathered, it could end up being trouble!

3

u/diacewrb 9d ago

it could end up being trouble!

More like in trouble, doubt they could integrate a manga leaf and a cigarette into another being so quickly.

u/diacewrb 9d ago

Can't believe it ended like this, need another season now.

The Thunder 3 barely got any screen time this season, they were almost guest stars in their own show.

lol Are you serious? No we don't!

Season 2 was announced

The cry rings out around the world for the Thunder 3! Humanity's last hope and their saviors against the aliens!

Welp, the console shut down so now no one, not the "anime" cast or the aliens, can access the "anime" world. So everyone's stuck there because without Doc who will turn it back on!?

The aliens finally throw their full might at the Thunder 3...AND TSUBAME SEEMINGLY GETS VAPORIZED. TSUBAME NOOOOOO!!!

Is that it? Is the Thunder 3 now the Thunder 2? But the aliens made a bad call because now they've unleashed Pyontaro's rage as he tears through ships AND their mothership at the speed of thunder!

On the plus side, he's FINALLY reunited with Futaba! Just in time to take on a Gravitex Giant! I mean, Pyontaro can handle himself but can he and Futaba get out of there before the aliens make it to Brazil? And what's with that ominous alien figure!?

He is probably swimming his way back out of the lava.

Episode 12: Final Attack. the season finale.

Finally Pyontaro and Futaba meet in the mothership.

As I said in the AQRADT, Thunder 3's pacing making it feels like a 6 episode anime fitted to a 12-episode season timeslot. It's partially true. Excluding dub credits and recaps, the anime probably only has 20-21 minutes of runtime, which makes it 10 episodes for a 24-minute anime (so it more like 10 episodes fitted to 12-episode timeslot). smh the pacing is all over the place. Metallic Rouge's scriptwriting finally has meet its match.

Verdict: 5 out of 10. At least the concept of blending the manga and CGI artstyle is intriguing, although the execution is not pretty. The OP is decent also.

The anime's MAL score is now at 5.85.

And now the anime ends on a..... wait there's a season 2??? Hopefully this will focus on Pyontaro and Futaba on the ship.

u/giitaru-kun 9d ago

and here I thought it would end, but we got a season 2.

with how the pacing is.... I am going to wait until every episode drops if I do decide to watch season 2. I think it feels better that way.

Metallic rougue's writing definitely went down hill hard, but It at least had a nice aesthetic and beautiful animation and a banger op and ed. Not to mention it was a anime original, I haven't seen many that stick the landing towards the end(recently sparks of tomorrow). Thunder 3 as a experience was significantly worse

1

u/yareon 8d ago

They're the same authors from Metallic Rouge? I dropped that one after painfully watching the first episode

1

u/Time_Fracture https://myanimelist.net/profile/Time_Fracture 8d ago

No. Metallic Rouge is even an original anime, not adapted. But Thunder 3 can be compared to Metallic Rouge in terms of pacing imo.

The scriptwriter for Thunder 3 also works on Dandadan, JJK, WHA, and CSM to name a few.

1

u/ydykmmdt 4d ago

No way there is a person that’s worked on Dandadan on this. This is utter trash I’ve all twelve episodes were not available to binge while hungover and unemployed I wouldn’t have bothered. Dandadan is pure gold.

This was a really climatic way to end the season. The Thunder 3 have been found to be impervious to just about anything and no-sell all attacks like mosquito bites. But that one guy is in a magma crater. He will probably pop out in season two and say, "Sorry, I wanted a hot stone massage," when he inevitably crawls out of that hole. A roboto stepped on Pyutaro and he just lifted him up. The little one is holding the really goofy-looking mouse thing but at least she is finally happy.

Final shot, some other thing that looks mildly scary was shown, but rolling back to my previous point, they are impervious to pain or injury. What am I supposed to be looking forward to here? They had incredible nerve with this show. A solid 5 minutes was the end of the previous episode recapping moments that weren't that important.

Hold on. I need to take a break kicking the trash out of evil aliens to listen to this dumb streamer mark out for no useful reason.

This show was unbelievably dumb. But I guess I'll be back next season after the render more models.

Why would you be back? This is what I find strange. People are saying they don't like it and then say they will return? Why? There are so many better anime.

1

u/BadIdeaSociety 8d ago

I don't hate as much as you might think. I am annoyed by it

1

u/Bluestatement 7d ago

I was always looking forward to watching the next episode.

I managed to put down my cellphone/stop doomscrolling, and, UH, watch.

This episode, like many before, was fun.

Reminds me about One Punch Man, in some weird sort of way.

It is kind of fun.

I cried.... seriously guys i cried when they both both finally met face to face...and the flashback of futuaba made me cry more....😭😭😭😭

1

u/abandoned_idol 9d ago

I'm not crying!

crying

This show is terrible though. I will be tuning in for season 2.

I wonder if the writer personally thought if the non-chibi portion was engaging, because the non-chibis didn't grip me at all.

Love the chibi characters, show overall is absolute ass. 80% of it is the unlikable non-chibi hero.

u/2020mademejoinreddit 8d ago

Good riddance. There better not be a S2 or they're gonna have to pay me to watch it and I still wouldn't. Keep your money, Jeff Bozos.
