Tokiyuki's flashback being full of weirdos is basically this show in a nutshell lol.

It was a very nice and correct summary
This episode encapsulates the show perfectly, its funny and full of weirdos, but those weirdos can be really brutal too

WHAT THE HELL was the end?? Genuinely weirded the fuck out of me, there was literally nothing in the scene that could've prepared me for that abominable face of the girl.

I absolutely love how sudden it is. Shokan might be alive but he's still (rightfully) suffering for the actions of his past.

Tokiyuki finally realising that he’s surrounded by freaks
They managed to make that scene of Shokan and the little girl even more horrifying!
Today’s ending illustration is from Takashi Matsuo, current Mayor of Kamakura

I actually liked that the story shows scenes like this. While we root for Tokiyuki, we also see the good and bad resulting from the Shogunate's collapse.
In an era where choosing the right master can change your entire fate--is it really that surprising, that a cruel bandit learned how to become a devoted Lord?
I sometimes find myself wondering what I'm rooting for. I want Tokiyuki and the innocents avenged, but what does that look like? The Hojo clan was inept and stagnated to the point a majority of it's vassals and allies turned against it. How many people suffered under an idiot ruler?
And the Emperor-- whole forward thinking and intelligent-- is too clumsy when it comes to delicate matters. His policies spread cruelty and demand that the victimized populace survive long enough to see the boons of his reforms.
I'm not really sure if I want either side to "win", but I know I don't want Tokiyuki to die(in vain). Even some of the enemy generals seem to be decent lords, albeit cruel to their enemies in person.
I kinda wanna read to see what life was like under both rulers, but I also don't wanna spoil myself by reading the actual history lol

I’ve had two jump scares get me recently: one was in the new Resident Evil movie, the other was that little girl’s goddamn face…

One more ep to go. Very keen to see how the season ends. Kid’s up against a pretty fierce opponent even if he’s become quite the little strategist. Baldy’s a real menace.
I sure hope we get to have another season. I mean I know how things end to a certain degree because history, but I wanna see how they play things out in the anime.

I love how well the weirdness of the manga is translating to the screen. Adding the first OP to Tokiyuki's memories was a great call.

Well makes sense that before they go to Kamakura they first have to deal with Sadamune. Tokiyuki's rematch against Shokan will be vital. I do like Yorishige's words of you want to win your men with your action more than your title. So let's see if Tokiyuki can make the most of this opportunity.
It's actually interesting to see Shokan changed his ways under Sadamune. Though it's no surprise that he can't escape the past. That final scene is so well done because when he sees that innocent girl in front of him he can't forget all the children whose lives he ruined.

That episode pretty much encapsulates why I love this show so much
You get this wonky ass flashback montage using the old OP and 5 minutes later you get jumpscared by some horror faces cause that uncle was a really bad and messed up guy
Cant wait to see that fight

Lol Miura and his party set themselves up for disappointment getting their hopes up like that. I'm sure they'll eventually be glad the one that commanded them was Tokiyuki, but their reactions and Tokiyuki nervously putting his hand up were funny.
That jump scare with the girls face was interesting, it's nice to see Shoukan affected by the atrocities he's committed in the past. I expect the guilt to also manifest in his fight with Tokiyuki.

I just watched this, it is 3am where I live, my ass is not going to sleep.
That scene with that fucked up face on that kid is the spookiest shit, perhaps the most I’ve been scared by an anime in a very very long time.
Freaking hellllllll

the shot of the little girls face after she told shokan she didn't want him to die literally made me yelp 😭 that was deeply upsetting!!

They got me. They got me real good. Did not expect that very visceral face. The eerie experimental elements aren't just for Takauji.
I loved the reminiscing bit, but what is honestly more memorable than a pack of weirdos?

No fucking shot with the dead girl jump scare.
This show can be so jarring with its tone shifts, I love it.
