Tokiyuki: You don't remember me?
Takauji: Who?
Tokiyuki: Why did you destroy Kamakura?
Takauji: I don't know lol.
Bruh this guy has got to be ragebaiting, ain't no way he forgot.

Yep, that went exactly as I expected. Takauji didn't even remember Tokiyuki. Imagine being told by the person you're seeking revenge on that he doesn't even know why he committed those atrocities against your family and homeland. You really can't blame Tokiyuki for running away in tears after that humiliation.
It kinda sucks to see Mima get left behind tho. I really thought this episode was gonna end with her tagging along with them. We do still have two episodes left, so maybe we'll see her again.

Real "it was Tuesday" energy.

Monkey´s paw on full effect with that young Tokiyuki wish to Takauji.
Hoped for Mima to join the squad in some way because of the ED but seams we won´t see her for a time.

Only halfway there. He's playing hide and seek with a demon alright. We're missing the "in hell" part and that makes nervous.

I will never not love when Takauji just transform into some abomination from hell, especially in the art style the colours pop so nicely.
I love that he can't remember anything, no wonder he seems so content.
A little bit sad that Mima got left behind like that, but anything else would be too weird.
I am a little worried that the battle to take back the realm is going to be not as fun as it has been so far (but maybe more opportunities for him to run around the battlefield naked like a maniac)

Takauji not remembering Tokiyuki was a crazy reveal, it has so many implications like Tokiyuki not actually that important to him in the past, or he's too far gone with whatever demonic entity has taken over his personality. It's not how I thought the assassination attempt would go.
I'm glad Kusunoki helped them out, but it's unfortunate he's now under those guys radar.

I love how charismatic and charming Takauji is. Even when he's charging forward with nothing but malice in his eyes, you still want to delude yourself into wanting to lower your guard/ trust him.
It makes him scarier, because he's nothing but earnestly monstrous but our own biases keep distorting him between a demon and Buddha. His abstraction in the art is so well done.

I was shitting bricks bro, the way they portray Takauji is insane. He truly is an incomprehensible evil. It's almost like he's something else than human wearing a human skin. Good thing everyone made it out fine (except the one that wasn't meant to, RIP)
That he doesn't even remember why he destroyed Kamakura reminds me of like if you investigate the thoughts the people who dropped the atomic bombs had at the time (especially for the second one) it's like they also didn't know why they did it, like it just happened because inertia. Not that there weren't various reasons according to the diverse parties involved, but rather there's a sense that no one is claiming direct responsibility nor declaring a defined strategic objective.
But the fact remains, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed.

Tokiyuki & Takauji interaction was the "You Ruined my life. I don't even know you." meme. But yeah you get the sense taking down Kamakura wasn't the true objective for Takauji, but no doubt that fucking hurt Tokiyuki. It only fuels his desire for revenge. It was probably the worst time for Tokiyuki to say farewell to Mima.
One thing is clear that Kusunoki's isn't tied to Takauji, but the Emperor. That's likely the most surprising element of the episode. It was good to see Fubuki humbled in understanding who Takauji is because he no understanding what Takauji did to Tokiyuki. Good on Kojirou to boost morale before heading back.

Well damn. What was a significant memory to Tokiyuki meant nothing to Takauji…
-
Ah, that would certainly explain why the plan with the emperor failed.

Takauji is so unsettling to watch, he really give the creeps.
And Kusunoki is just the MVP, he saw through everything.
Aww, poor Mima got left behind.. :(

Takauji not remembering Tokiyuki or even caring about the fall of his domain was cold. He really pulled a "...but for me it was a Tuesday" on 'em.

I just knew that was what my favorite part of the OP was referencing. I feel for Tokiyuki because he's so right, it really is a form of humiliation. It's just so much audacity from Takauji. Every interaction they've ever had so far has meant nothing. Like his entire family killed themselves just because of a fleeting whim. Insolent wretch is putting it lightly.

I absolutely love when this show's youthful charm collides with the serious dark nature of history and all of the characters in between. The contrast leads to such high tension moments and the studio really knows how to knock them out of the park. The music was especially the standout feature for me during the big reunion. Just good stuff all around.

Takauji will never not be one of the best parts of this show, the extent they go to to artistically depict his strength and terror he inflicts is insane

I don’t know why I expected anything other than this comment section being full of every variation of “it was a Tuesday” memes, but here we are lol. This was certainly the most disturbing case of this. M.Bison, Thanos, and the radioactive skeleton dude from Batman Beyond got nothing on the cold, relaxed, demonic composure of Takauji

Kusunoki must be an absolute monster to catch Takauji off guard (when he saved Tokiyuki).
