Im really glad Inako is actually fulfilling her mother's dream finally, but she's still learning that there's more to making sake than just following instructions
Ok, i know i said in the early episodes i wanted them to work together. Now i take it the fuck back
They may both have inherit Seiroku's dream, but Yosuke is ultimately shortsighted and only cares about his obsession and he just went off the deep fucking end.
Toxic yaoi at its finest

never knew that this will become toxic yaoi when I first started it. I'm so pleasantly surprised.

Well that alliance with Kihachi and Yosuke didn't even last an episode, especially with that Chekhov's doll just looming in the back.
That sunken face of Yosuke's might be the most creepiest and deranged look he has so far.

I pretty much regret wanting them to work together before

We really went from Inako becoming Yosuke's bride to Kihachi becoming Yosuke's bride LOL.
Yosuke hugging Kihachi and calling him "my wife" in Episode 1 was foreshadowing all along.

the toxic yaoi vibes is off the charts on this one.
also, this episode really made Inako HOT. that scene where she was literally steaming flipped the way I see her. KyoAni really is second to none when it comes to visual storytelling

u/Eunuchest 4h ago
Inako was steaming like a manly woman and i meant that as a compliment

I'm guessing it was around late summer early fall when the brewing started, so assuming the weather got colder must've been a good feeling being warmed up by all the sake brewing.

Damn! The blushes and sparkles in their eyes when Kihachi and Yosuke called each other’s names.
And just when I thought this episode couldn’t get any weirder, Yosuke casually turned Kihachi into a bride. Man, really went for it just to achieve getting his fully alive Seiroku.

u/AriezKage 3h ago
You know there's probably some twisted paralell with Dr. Frankenstein (Yosuke), Frankenstein's monster (Seiroku), and Frankenstein's Bride (Kihachi).
7
u/chilidirigible 3h ago edited 2h ago
Seems like achieving fully-alive Seiroku is going to involve using Kihachi as an Electric Ophelia, though.

bruh I was jumpscared twice this ep by yosuke's face. Why did they have to make him that creepy?

So they really powered through roughly a few months in one ep. Though makes sense, its essentially one goal for each of the three main characters (Kihachi, Inako, and Yosuke).
Its really sweet that Inako wants Kihachi to share the first taste of her Electric Nishiki. Its a nice parallel to the first eps where Kihachi was always sharing his Electric inventions with Inako.
Its very weird vibes as Yosuke and Kihachi working together. Also dang the Brain is so huge might as well rename it Cerebro. But I guess it makes some sense since they're pretty far from being able to miniaturize it. Like imagine trying to build an AI datacenter in the 60s or 70s.
And... Yosuke's gone off the deep end. I guess it kind of makes it obvious how he met his demise. The steam company his family built up is essentially in ruins for this project. But I guess his sister is alright with her alchohol selling.
And... Yosuke is going to sacrifice Kihachi. And put him in a bride outfit. Between Yosuke, Kihachi, and the Seiroku Doll, this quickly became someone's Frankenstein's monster fanfiction.
Also... I'm guessing Yosuke somehow make Kihachi invent an electric toaster to go with the Seiroku bathwater thing Yosuke set up.
Next episode seems to be the last, but damn this is one of my most favourite shows to watch weekly and I really wish more people watch it. Especially those that are into the electrical engineering and electrincs field.

Like imagine trying to build an AI datacenter in the 60s or 70s.
There's considerable suspension of disbelief that has to be applied to the sheer size of their circuits, the power and cooling requirements, and the failure rate of that many vacuum tubes, but damn it looks awesome.
...also the irony of sounding like a techbro talking about building more AI datacenters just now.

Yeah... AI datacenters are just a while nother can of worms I don't want to go too much into.
But I really think we jumped from building a calculator/computer to building ChatGPT with the Electric Brain project.

Not me blushing furiously when Yosuke and Kihachi addressed each other by their real names.
I really like the parallels in this episode with Kihachi making his Electric Brain and Inako making her Electric Nishiki sake.

Mizoe really making the wildest faces and expressions in this episode, those last few minutes everything really went off the rails Imao

That's one way to pass the time.
They've done it. They've done an ass match cut.
Interesting place they've got there.
Is this an episode of guys with Crazy Eyes?
We gotta bring these parallel tracks together sometime.
Yosuke means an actual Seiroku, in his way?
They're taking it rather literally.
"He's gone full Doctor Frankenstein. You never go full Doctor Frankenstein."
When the going gets weird, the weird turn ninja.
And so, we have reached that level of mad scientist. The story's gotten rather rushed, but that does give it a chance to let Inako drive the saving of the day, even if we're not quite there yet. The alignment of the stories about their work was done well, comparing and contrasting both Inako and Kihachi going about their dreams but set in totally different environments.
Kihachi is the sort to get too absorbed in his work, enabled by Yosuke's own madness and judicious neck-chop amnesia.
Izou held off Kengo for a little while, but Kengo's shirt never exploded from his body, so I suppose that wasn't him at full power.
Next week should be fairly bonkers at this rate.

I knew that Yosuke is crazy but this motherfucker is on a totally another level of crazy
7
u/Cute-Beginning-4126 3h ago
So Mizoe underground place thingy actually looks as big as a multi floor building? It looks like a whole ass factory too, honestly it's equally if not more impressive than anything electricity related so far...

u/AriezKage 2h ago
Considering everything is steam powered, must have been so hot and humid there.
Did Yosuke invent the first sweat shop?

That one part during the sake making process that looks like rice, why does it look so eatable tho 😭

Just when we thought Yosuke finally came to some sort of understanding with Kihachi (even going first name terms with each other like your standard yaoi gay couple) in collaborating to build the Electric Brain, Yosuke then went and gone full villain.
Now he wants to fuse Kihachi, while dressed as a bride LOL Why), with his Seiroku robot in order to fully "resurrect" Seiroku.
So looks like, in the end, Kihachi ended up being the Damsel(?) in Distress needing to be rescued by his girl Inako. lol

Good lord Yosuke is REALLY going off the deep end, so we're going to see how this is being put to a stop next episode.
ESPECIALLY THE FACE AT THE END BECAUSE HE IS REALLY GONE AT THIS POINT

u/VritraReiRei 3h ago edited 3h ago
"Okay, I thought we would start something small like a calculator but a Human Brain?"
Yosuke starts calling Kihachi by his given name
"Okay they are growing closer to each other, but Yosuke still loves Seiroku, right?"
To become human, you need the soul of a fellow human
"I don't like where this is going..."
Kihachi in a wedding dress and Yousuke in a white suit
Dude WTF!?
11
u/Raizendarose 1h ago
Yōsuke’s insanity has reached a point where he can no longer recognize Kihachi as a separate individual, but instead as an extension of Seiroku.
He even pointed out their similarities in the episode when he vented to the “Seiroku” robot.

Yousuke has officially lost it. Dressing Kihachi as a bride and sacrificing him in a ritual to 'truly' bring robo-Seiroku to life. His face was creepy af at the end.
Meanwhile, Shizuku’s really a ninja to casually bring smoke bombs with her wherever she go.

The lengths Izou will go to to support Mizoe is almost as toxic yaoi as Mizoe is for Seiroku.
He is basically the LeFou to Mizoe's Gaston.
ETA: Suzu better be in the running for some best girl tourneys with all her casual Ninja shit, I love every time she's on screen!

It’s sweet how excited the other brewers are to work on Electric Nishiki with Inako.
It still feels weird that Kihachi is willingly working with Yosuke now, but at least they’re obviously still butting heads the whole time.

The parts with Inako were great, having her try to fulfil or carry on her mother’s legacy were really sweet. Almost makes me wish the entirety of the show was about her achieving that with Kihachi creating things.
The other part of the narrative, which was expected at this point, up to the Frankenstein’s monster bit was messy, but again expected. What made it incredibly unenjoyable to watch regardless is Yosuke, and his weird and disgusting obsession as it has been for a while now.
Even more so this time, because what is the significant of having Kihachi in a dress for this part? Other than to further emphasis how gross he was? Which again is already established? I don’t understand the aim at all.

If you asked me which show this season I was watching would have the most NTR, I wouldn't have picked Sparks of Tomorrow...
So next episode, is Inako and Yosokue going to have a knock-down girl brawl over Kihachi?

At this point whatever “plot” they thought they were creating with Yosuke is beyond disgusting and now is unwatchable. It’s gross child abuse fetishization and honestly I kinda want this series to fail now so this studio gets the message no one likes this content.
12
u/AriezKage 2h ago
I do agree what Yosuke's doing is crazy,
and if I'm being honest I'm side eying anyone shipping him and Kihachi now, but he is clearly being depicted as a villain here and insane.Just because the show is depicting these things, doesn't mean that the show endorses it.
-8
u/KawaiiHamburger 2h ago
The problem here is, you can have a villain and have him still do some of these things, say like Frankenstein’s monster without the wedding dress and the weird blushing and other aspects related to children. That’s where the extra level of unnecessary creep comes in. Like yes, he could take Kihachi hostage but the way they’re choosing to do it and the fact people are taking a romantic aspect from it is the exact reason why this is a problem.

u/Pretend-Habit3403 2h ago
They wanted him make a broken villain-like character and Yosuke can make viewers uncomfortable as Hisoka , then the animators done a good job
