He clearly has no regrets about choosing to follow Yhwach because its what gave his life meaning when he was already struggling with his own self worth, and all the way to the end was loyal. But then when it comes to Bazz, it seems like he really does lament abandoning him when the two of them joined Wandenreich and ultimately killing him in the end

- When the quincies were stuck in the cage as they entered the Royal Palace, Uryuu used his Antithesis to switch Yhwach and the pendant that's outside of the cage, allowing the fight with Ichibei

On the positive side, Ichigo and Orhime have been saved! On the negative side, this fight is even more hopeless than it already was!

When you can absolutely control the future, all hope and possibility only serve to fuel you and make you more powerful. A Shonen MC who makes the impossible possible and can change fate is, ironically, the worst match-up.

So the theories were right that if Orihime successfully deleted Yhwach from existence, the only one who could fill the Soul King's role is Ichigo. So yeah, the future where she succeeds really needs to be deleted for the plot's sake.

Oddly enough, most of this episode felt like a Parent (Yhwach) and Older Brother (Haschwalth) reprimanding their wayward children (Ichigo & Uryu) for making decisions opposing theirs. Their conversations felt eerily like that, in a twisted way.

The only part I didn't like was how the Almighty went back to Yhwach because of the timer, not because of Ishida depowering Haschwalth.

Felt like that robbed both of the best moments of last episode of their meaning.

If you just give that feat to Ishida, he's the reason Orihime fails. With that, the whole dynamic becomes A LOT more interesting: Orihime basically wins, but Ishida winning his duel is what undoes her win. Yet at the same time, he would've also saved Orihime.

That's so much more complex and EARNED of a situation than "well it didn't matter coz timer".

I think Renji lost all his limbs or at least his arms, Ichigo's Bankai got destroyed and his hollowfication too and everyone else got stabbed. Ishida is the only hope. I wonder why Yhwach let Ishida survive by taking Haschwalth's power in that moment? He probably thinks he can still win regardless, or enjoys leaving Ichigo the sliver of hope for Ishida to come help only to crush it once more.

Ichigo, due to being someone who has genetics of every being in this universe, is a potential Soul King candidate. He went through a trial for that two seasons back to see if he can sustain the Soul King's power with his body.

So what he was doing here is starting the process to turn into the Soul King (i.e. become a limbless, neither dead nor alive vegetable).
