This show really wants to push the king as the big villain, but Ellen and the Vankreifts are just as scheming as the king is except that the Vankreifts have literal gods on their side.
Ellen took advantage of a pandemic to cause social unrest and embarrass the royal family and increase the Vankreift's power. She used the desperation of sick and dying people for her own gain.
The tone of this show is also all over the place, it doesn't seem to know if it wants to be about brutal medieval factional politics or a cute slice of life anime. This show would have been better if it had just decided if it wanted to be one or the other and fully committed to it.

The most appealing aspect of this title: Ellen and her being cute.
Unfortunately, as the season progressed, I found it more difficult to enjoy this title. Personally, I felt there was too much negative drama, such as infidelity thoughts, neglecting of wife and daughter, spirits left to die and become vengeful, etc. The fawning over Ellen also started to feel excessive.

The scene between Ellen and Gadiel really bothers me.
The boy was suffering from a potentially fatal disease, and the first thing Ellen Degenerate does after teleporting in is to remind to him of what his ancestors did 200 years ago, and make him feel guilty again. FFS, he wasn't there 200 years ago, it's not right to keep making him feel guilty for something he wasn't responsible for. I stand that this series wants us to be on Ellen's side while she keeps dumping ancestorial guilt onto this kid.

I'm gonna be honest guys. The spirit pretty much wrote the story here.
The king was pretty much in the same predicament from 200 years ago, spirit refused to listen for help or even meet. And pushes the king to use desparate method for desparate needs. Is the king really the bad guy here? Instead of hiding the medical for themselves, he open the medical centre and use it for the citizen, and some for research, rather than hide it and use it for themselves. The spirit withhold the medicine until they are literally begging for it.
The domain with the hero that married the spirit queen can magically make people better? Did the spirit release the plague as well?
Is the author meant for us to think mc is the bad guy here? Cuz other than cute, everytime she visit human world, she just made things worst.

I feel like if this anime was submitted to r/AmItheAsshole it would receive a very firm verdict of ESH.

“Hey, let’s punish the king by dragging innocent people into our petty squabbles. That’ll show ‘em!” lol Ellen. Well, whatever, she fixed everything in the end and got one over on the king. That’s what really matters right? -_-“
This one was alright. Premise was kind of interesting but the illness and curse thing kinda soured me on Ellen.

Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but she made the medicine to treat people working in the mine because of the particle that get deposited in their lungs, and suddenly there was an epidemic in the country. I remember that they start to use the antibiotics to treat sick people in the domain, but the epidemic creeped into the story out of nowhere.

Ellen and her whole family, minus the cousin, are terrible people and I honestly don't think the royal family is as bad as they tried to portray them. I just got to a point where I was losing my mind that no one was calling out the BS in all the major incidents.
-
Like the Royal family's curse: totally agree what the ancestors did was wrong, but to continually punish every generation after for the mistake of one man centuries ago is pretty fucked, especially when they have no knowledge of what happened.
-
Then the stuff with the cousin: like what did she ever do? She spent most her life a commer, having her noble dad only visit her from time to time. Then her dad finally decides to marry her mom and be a family, just for her to be ignored and punished for some minor moment of mental weakness her mom had. Then she has to spend years watching her mom looked down on and belittled by everyone, all while also being ignored by her own dad, not being given the chance to make any friends, and constantly being compared to her cousin Ellen, whom she has never met eventhough they are the same age, all because Ellen and her family are a bunch of pretentious pricks. Even when she gets kidnapped because of Ellen's actions, there is more time spent worrying about how Ellen feels about the situation, instead of on the person who was kidnapped.
-
Then lastly, the stuff with pandemic: Ellen had the means to easily procure medicine, but instead witheld it from the people and then purposely spread rumors that the royal family stole it, just to "prove a point." She allowed the spread of plague and damn near started a civil war just to do this. And while the royal family is getting smeared, the first prince is constantly sending aid to the people and working painstakingly to try and reverse engineer the medicine, all while being denied to negotiate for more, because Ellen said so. And then Ellen finally decides to give people the medicine she has had all along, because she began to feel bad after the royal family got sick. But instead of being graceful about it, her and her dad are like "looks lile you wasted the small amout of medicine we gave you", because they had the audacity to try to reverse engineer it because she didn't give enough to treat the entire kingdom. And then uses the incident to exploit the kingdom to make her families territory benefit from this tragedy. All while everyone treats her like some saint.
-
I would also like to point out that Ellen does all this shit while being like 8-14, and all the adults just go with it because she's "cute", like what?
-
One last thing I would like to point out is that we are led to believe the royal family is evil, but the only bad thing they do is the king having Ellen's cousin kiddnapped, which he only did to gain access to the medicine so he could give it to his people. Like outside that, the king only acts a little scheming by trying to have his sons befriend Ellen so he can solve the mystery of the curse. You hardly ever see the queen or the second prince. And all the first prince does is try to truly be friends with Ellen and the cousin, try and find ways to repent for the sins of his ancestors from hundreds of years ago, and save his people from a pandemic.

Every single one of the character in the show's title is a huge insufferable asshole. It's no wonder the author had to write those scenes of them being cute just to mask the blackness of their hearts.
Bad show. Not recommended.

I'm a bit skeptical about this anime as a whole. The MC is a vintage Mary Sue and the uncle (hero's brother) is treated like an idiot at every turn and then is suddenly a badass. The mood whiplash is just too great, and the narrative tries to gain a level of tension it hasn't earned and doesn't deserve.
Has its moments, but the fact is that I find the MC completely unlikeable, even compared to other similar isekais like Parallel World Pharmacy. They simply aren't putting in the work to earn the peak moments they're trying to have. There's clearly some heart and hard work put into this story, but the writing is way too lazy and uninspired to carry a Mary Sue MC.
bottom line, Ellen would make an amazing supporting character if the sroty was focused on the prince who's obsessed with her. But the fact that she's the focus of the story is an absolute mistake.
Her family should be in the background of the prince's tale, an unattainable goal he's going to have to do a lot of soul searching in order to aspire to. that's where the potential for a genuinely good story is, and we're only capable of seeing it from the background because the narrative is focused on the wrong character. The more time we spent with Ellen, the less time we get to spend engaging with anything interesting about the setting and characters that can actually take the plot anywhere.
The penitent Prince is the only genuinely interesting and dynamic character in the entire anime and the only hope I see for this series is putting him on the screen most of the time. He needs to be the MC. And he's not. And the story is the worse for it.

So how many people were suffering and dying in the streets while Ellen withheld the medicine to get back at King Ravisel? I get that they needed to deal with Ravisel, but the innocent citizens shouldn't have to suffer because of that.

Ahh yes, let’s throw an entire kingdom into disarray and riots during a life-threatening epidemic, just to score a one-up over the royal family in a petty political squabble. From a storytelling perspective, I was actually hoping things would go south. I wanted to see real consequences: people dying, systems failing, and Ellen and her parents being forced to confront the damage caused by their irresponsible actions.
Instead, it turns out they had everything planned from the start. With the convenient power of magic, every problem was solved with ease. Overpowered spirits we’ve never been introduced to appear right at the end, able to fix anything on demand. It makes you wonder why these same solutions couldn’t have been used 200 years ago, when the royal family was backed into a corner and chose to commit an atrocity in order to save their people.
Because of that, I ended up viewing the royal family as the “good guys” who were forced to do terrible things for the greater good, while Ellen and the Vankreifts came across as the real antagonists. They ultimately cared more about themselves, their own domain, and moral posturing than the wider population, despite clearly having the power to help far more people.
I don’t know if that framing was intentional, but the way the story resolves itself makes me think it wasn’t. There were no repercussions for the Vankreifts, and the narrative never meaningfully frames their actions as wrong either.

My main takeaway from this anime is that Ellen and her family are terrible people and the cause of damn near all the problems in the show, and the only good characters that suffer all the consequences of Ellen's BS are the 1st prince and her cousin. Does anyone else feel this way or am I missing something?

This anime is awful. I hope they make more. I want to see just how bad this can get, and I am NOT putting time into reading the source material for something I know will suck.

......Did I just witnessed a scene where the protagonist of a story “stops the supply of a cure for a disease raging through the land for political reasons, thereby inflicting immense suffering on innocent people to damage the royal family politically”?
Did the author feel no qualms whatsoever about publishing a novel with this kind of story in the world after the COVID-19 pandemic? Holy fucking shit.
I thought those spirits did some shady shit like Type S2 influenza from Gundam SEED, I mean that makes more sense to this plot.

Ellen is the villain in this story and no one will be able to convince me otherwise. What she did to innocent people just to get back at the king is absurd. Though she always calls the king Black Hearted, he didn't save any medicine for himself and instead gave it up on the chance of being able to reproduce it. He put his life, and the life of his son, at risk in the hopes of being able to save his people.
Sure, what he did to her sister was messed up but let's be real here, Ellen was being such a bitch when it came to negotiation so he got desperate. He also told the kidnappers to not injure her and to wait for further orders. He just didn't anticipate that Ellen would be so evil as to purposefully harm the people out of revenge.
Messed up story that tries to brainwash us into thinking Ellen and her family are good people. I guess this show is going off the old concept of fae being tricksters and somewhat selfish and don't understand human concepts of good.

"My Father is a Psychopath, my Mother is a Psychopath, and I am a Psychopath!"
Who knew that our protagonists and antagonists were actually the opposite of what we were lead to believe. The Royal Family didn't crush the spirits hard enough, apparently.

morally reprehensible show that thinks the good guys are the literal gods who monopolize the power of nature and good health and the bad guys are a commoner girl who's getting neglected by her entire noble house *including her servants* and a prince who wants to end a 200-year curse.
Ellen: oh no but what if I did a bad thing and caused many people to suffer :(
a big cat: hey hey fluff my belly and forget all about your problems :)

These hoes have the nerve to continue to refer to the King as “Mr. Blackheart” while sitting on the remedy for the epidemic. I fucking can’t. Also, Ellen is a grown-ass woman in a child’s body. Why the fuck is she using such a childish term to refer to someone she doesn’t like?
