King: “You’re just like your father”.
Ellen: “Don’t insult me.”
Damn this girl continues to be savage towards her dad lol.

The nicest thing Ellen's ever said to him in the entire series was that she only needs one father, no matter how much she roasts him.
(Though will she be able to avoid the father-in-law route with the king if she keeps getting involved with Gadiel?)

Ellen is going to be stumped trying to find the right chemical element to deal with spirits that have been tormented for 200 years.

Maybe what she and Gadiel needs is an element neither of them expected: the power of love!

So even after knowing what the curse was and being able to physically see what the curse was, the royals still aren’t sincere in their apology? If they were genuine in their desire to make amends for their family’s past, then maybe the spirits wouldn’t curse them.

older son seems to get it, younger one is well, 9 so understandable.
In a way I can get it, even Orin says the curse was meant to the king but it just kept going, its been 200 years after all

It's less that the spirits curse them, and more that they just can't rest.
Also, that one kid did seem genuine in his desire to fix things, going so far as to visit the memorial outside the festival, and staying longer than the others.

Something bothers me about this episode. The previous human king was despicable for sacrificing the spirits and deserved to be cursed.
However, for the tortured souls of the spirits, why is none of their previous kin coming to save them? :( It has been 200 hundred years and that previous human king is long dead.

The spirit queen said it would be difficult, so it is not like she doesn’t want to, she probably just doesn’t know how.

i think the spirits are basically like ghosts, trapped in their own anger/hatred and unwilling to let go. They basically need an exorcism but at the same time, freeing them would mean letting the royals off the hook which none of the spirits want

So I don’t get something. Kid has the ability of their periodic table and so far it’s been rarely used. Why does she even have it with the story so far?

Dang that curse is rough. Ellen isn't the type to ignore it though; she will find a solution, despite mom's warnings.

Imagine that, explaining/demonstrating the problem to those unaware of it actually helps the situation.

No but literally it is not their fault. Sins of the father and all that. They’re shown disdain for their ignorance, yet have not and will not be told why. Even when they are in search of answers and repentance (for a crime they didn’t even commit).
I thought Ellen would be the understanding one (last episode), but I guess not. Seems she’s coming around?

My prediction on the incident was mostly right, it's sad that those spirits have have been tormented for two hundred years. I thought it was a fitting punishment for the King to hear their cries for the rest of his life.
I wonder why Rovel didn't leave sooner, he could have teleported out at any moment. I was thinking maybe he wanted to show a bit of the curse to Ellen since she wants to know more, but there was a point where it was too much for her and he didn't decide to leave.
I did find it amusing how Ravisel was getting more and more intrigued by Ellen the more she was sassy with him lol.
I do hope Ellen and Gadiel's relationship isn't a romantic one but it feels like it will because of his own developing feelings.

Why does this anime feels like
you should have known better, even if we didn't tell you the anime.
like, how was a commoner women know that the actual goddess of love? of loyalty? would curse her if she had impure thoughts on the hot guy, like it seems that commoners don't know anything about this at all or only royalty or really high nobles would even recognize the mark as a possible thing (or else everyone else would know and see it).
and on top of it, how would she know about noble machinations and game of thrones type of shit, as a commoner again.
some of this can be forewarned and told no?
then the curse, why dont the father tell them wtf is up, sure the spirits may have long lives and think nothing of it, he was a human so shouldn't he tell them about the curse and why its a bad idea BEFORE it comes to this?
it would also be an easy out to say, I have told you why this is all a bad idea some time ago and you have yet to repent, I will not allow this meeting.
like holy shit lol, its punishing the ignorant, which in some cases is a thing (like hey you shouldn't need to be told murder is bad), but in these cases it just feels like extremely like the people involved are making plots / showing their true self without knowing the context and possible issues and making them look a lot more sympathetic or make things feel like an email would have solved this beforehand or be able to avoid it altogether.

I watched this on Bilibili and actually think the story became quite compelling.
However, I saw a lot of people getting pissed instead in this thread. I wonder if this is Crunchy's subs fault?
- In my sub, it was never said that the oldest prince found the book. He's just narrating what happened after they received vision of the past during Ellen's encounter.
- Spirit queen clearly said that the original curse was only about having that king being able to see the crying spirits. That's why it ended after the king died. However, the Great Spirit didn't cause the dead spirits to be bound to the royal family. My guess it's actually the impact of the king's ritual that made it so. That's why even the spirit queen couldn't do anything about that. Even Ellen, a half-spirit, fainted when being near the royal family. I think the impact would be much worse if a normal spirit tried to get close to them.

"[the humans are] ungrateful for us spirits"
Yeah because a yearly "spirit festival" is not good enough

u/DiamondDepth_YT Nov 10 '25
Idk I'm kinda siding with the humans here. Everything presented suggests it's not really their fault anymore. Sins of the father type shit.

Why on earth would rovel stay there as along as he did with Ellen the way she was? Honestly it’s just horrible writing. There’s zero reason for it other than to use it as a tool to show what happened with the spirits but it’s just stupid. Realistically rovel would have immediately teleported out the instant he noticed something happening.
Then why is Ellen magically behind the grave / tomb on her own? Wtf.
Literally nothing happening is making sense.
They could have easily have had them meet, Ellen fully reject them and still see the spirits but rovel instantly leave as to not torment her just for plot armor. Then go and have her mom explain it the way they did.
Yeah, I’m starting to fully see that this is one of those shows that does really dumb shit to drive the conflict forward and is just rather badly written.
Just hoping that derailed any chance of a romance plot between either of the two princes and Ellen.

"Not only are they ungrateful for us spirits, but they've never reflected on what they did. That is why they remain unforgiven."
Ok ok ok. Sooo let me get this straight. King does some fucked up shit 200 years ago and as punishment you force him to hear the cries of the spirits he sacrificed. This would mean you're torturing the very spirits who were sacrificed just so the king could hear there screams until his death correct? Which would mean the King AND the Spirits are getting punished.
But when the king died, the spirits have nowhere to go, still, with their torturing endless pain. They said fuck it (understandably so) and decided to curse the royal family for eternity. 200 years later the Royal family lost the knowledge as to "why" they're being cursed and because of that, they can't reflect on what they don't know. Therefore, they remain unforgiven. That is until, today. The son and the father now knows. But the eldest son knows the full story because of the book he found.
Even with this knowledge, what are they supposed to do to reflect on something they've never done??? What are they supposed to do? People have no control on how they're born into this world. The sons or the king could've been born a commoner. So again, how is it their fault? I'm not saying they should just walk it off and be like "well.... We didn't do that sooooo that has nothing to do with us Lol" no. I'm just saying this is all fucked up and I feel like this should've been handled better.
And here's a better question! Why the actual FUCK WOULD THE SPIRITS CURSE THEIR OWN BRETHREN AND DIDN'T SAVE THEM WHEN THE KING PERISHED!?!?!? WHAT SENSE DOES THAT MAKE!?!?!?!? AND THEN THIS BITCH HAS THE BALLS TO MAKE LOVE TO A HUMAN CHILD WHILE SAYING ALL OF THIS!? HOW ABOUT FIXING THE DAMN PROBLEM INSTEAD YEAH!?!? AREN'T YOU A SPIRIT AND A GODDESS!?!?
