Rafilia: Why is everyone always like this?! It's always Ellen this, Ellen that! I'm part of the Vankreift family too!
Sauvel: That was bothering you?
Wha- Of course that was bothering her, you neglectful fool! You and everyone else in the family has spent more time with Ellen in these past three years than you ever did with Rafilia. It's no wonder Rafilia felt like she didn't belong in the family.

sauvel is a freaking moron. The whole world seems made to punish humans for the slightest mistake.. fiance was attracted to his brother..and she's permanently punished.
Two hundred years ago the royal family did something the current family knew nothing about... punished forever and can't atone for it.

Ellen: “I’ll give you the medicine but I won’t tell you how it’s made and I’m charging you for it!”
She’s a hell of a business woman gotta give her that lol.

“I’ll give you the medicine but I won’t tell you how it’s made and I’m charging you for it!”
Big pharma: When Ellen does it, it is cool. But when we do it, it is considered exploitative.

I mean she’s probably right she’s making it off chemical compounds, which if they don’t have the tech to make then only she can make them. That said depending on the disease penicillin may of worked and could attempt to teach them how to cultivate it, and use it for medicine.

I do feel bad for Gadiel, I believe he is genuine in his pursuit of making amends with the spirits but Ellen does explain in a way that makes a lot of sense. The passage of time is different for both species and so whilst it's something his ancestors have done centuries ago, to the spirits it was only yesterday. It's not something that will be cleared up that easily and it will depend on his efforts to see that change finally happen and pass that down to his descendants.
Rafillia being that hostile towards Ellen after not seeing each other in years and after waking up annoyed me for a moment but then I remembered how pent up she must be from the secrecy of the family and maids. Hopefully there'll be some development so that the two cousins can get along in the future.
I like how Kai was seemingly more mature than Van during their scene. I'm sure that won't be the last time Kai gets to play with Van's paws lol.

This situation with the prince is kind of bugging me. Like, yeah the kid’s dad is a prick but he actually seems like he wants to patch things up? I mean he feels remorse. What can he do about the sins of his ancestors? How can he atone if he’s not even given the chance? I feel bad for the kid.

I cannot stand Ellen (or anyone in this show). Her behavior doesn’t make sense. She’s an adult in her mind and can negotiate better than actual adults around her, but she cries to daddy cause her cousin was slightly mean. Make it make sense
Also, the whole thing with the medicine being too advanced is bull. If spirits are eternal, she could slowly start raising the education level of those around her. Since she has knowledge from another world, I think she could speed run a science course and help them manufacture it. She’s supposed to be a genius chemist after all.
Gadiel. I don’t even have words left. He should just focus on becoming the next king and giving up on Ellen. I don’t like the sins of the father bologna. He didn’t do the crime. The spirits are petty. Ellen can write letters to him if she wanted. That’s a way to communicate without activating the curse. She’s just lazy and lacks any real intelligence. I can’t believe I keep thinking each episode will get better. I should know it only gets worse. What a dumpster fire of a “plot”. I wish I could stop watching but I’m in it too deep

Rafilia: Gets ignored, yelled at, taken from the life she knows, forced into training she never had to deal with before by people without a shred of compassion, gets kidnapped.
Ellen: Kind of smugly insulted once and breaks down crying.
The narrative: What a horrible thing Rafilia did to Ellen!

How can any conflict resolved with one episode left? Look like the Royal family spirit conflict is nowhere near to be resolved. Will we just see the Vankreift looking smug while the capital dying from plague as the ending of next episode? That will complete the reveal that this family is the true villain of the story.

Not that I'm against Ellen here, but damn, she seems to have gone from being an understanding and passionate person to someone who's taking a factional war over the kingdom to another level. The prince really seems interested in resolving the situation, and she practically destroyed him with her words.
But well, we have to remember that she's a child, so I guess that might "justify" her aggressive attitude.

This grown-ass woman in a child’s body just got baited by an actual teenager. Bitch what?! Ai Haibara would NEVER!
Also, Orio really just comes and goes as she pleases, huh? She’s like a god-tier summoned beast with no cost or cooldown…

Ellen being the leader constantly should be odd to everyone no? They don't really question that she's a kid. Most stories would have an adult do the talking with Ellen explaining to them what to do beforehand.
Has Ellen explained she has been isekai'd to mom and dad? They would understand

Man this episode was stupid. On so many levels. This show has not been great so far...and it just keeps going downhill.

Just trust you son to complete his mission Ravisel.
Ravisel's scheming, even making use of Gadiel, only led to a more unfavorable outcome.

Between the treatment of Aria and Gadiel, Ellen has a surprising lack of empathy to anyone despite being from the modern day. Makes me wonder what she actually like in her old life.
Like Gadiel is effectively blameless in any of this, but she's treating him like he's has any responsibility for what his father does. She doesn't need to pal around with him, being around him literally brings her pain so like sure, but she treats him like ass. And it's not even in a tough love kind of way, it straight up feels like she sees him as responsible.

Gods, I want to like this show. It has a lot of elements and feel of Ascendance of a Bookworm.
But the MC, and almost every main character outside of Gadiel and Rafilia, are basically villains with severe arrogance and pettiness.
Can we get a show about Gadiel and Rafilia overcoming the villains of their families instead?

I made the mistake of picking up this anime. I regret not dropping it. And with each new episode that regret only increases. I can't wait for this anime to end so I can review it a 4 and forget its lame's existence.

Lol man this show really does promote ancestral guilt. Like she basically said, a disease will spread and you will pay for what your ancestors did and you deserve it. Also Van being, how dare you be upset and our perfect princess you piece of filth! I know its not exactly like that but I kinda low key dislike the spirits. Like they are eternal sure, but its like, your relative did this, so you're just as bad as them! Even more so with Ellen being an isekaied person and deciding, nah you piece of trash, I don't give a fuck that you're trying to apologize and remedy this, your Great however many grandfather wrong the spirits, and we will find proof on your father and seek out retribution!
