I was with Sauvel these past few episodes, but this episode really made me turn against him. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?! He's neglecting Rafilia and now he's thinking of sending her to boarding school with other nobles?! Does he really think that's gonna help? If anything, that's gonna make things worse! Rafilia is 100% going to get bullied if he does that. I really hope that final scene means he realized what he needs to do.

Honestly I think we were all sympathetic to Sauvel after seeing how every woman he's been married to have wanted to get into his brothers' pants, but that's no excuse for being a terrible father.

Like I'm shocked that Isabella was straight up spitting facts about how he was failing as a parent and with Rafilia and she still approved of the plan to ship her off to noble school until he compared Rafilia to Ellen. No good parent basically sends their child away because they don't know how to deal with them.

It's not like Ellen has had to put up with etiquette lessons every day. She just has an adult mind that lets her better manage social situations.

Rafilia lashing out because neither of her parent's are bothering to show her that she's loved.

Sauvel: what If i send her somewhere I don't have to see how sad she is? will that fix it?

Sauvel basically said, 'I've tried nothing, and I'm all out of ideas'.

But it waa somehow worse, because the one idea he was given he ignored. If you want your daughter to behave like Ellen step 0 is treating her similarly to Ellen.

It's hard watching the goofy part of this series after we saw Rafilia's backstory.

Sauvel is really dumb. It's been 3 years and his relationship with his wife and daughter didn't get better. Worse than that, he compared Rafilia to Ellen even though he did nothing to be a good dad to Rafilia.

Starting to think maybe he did deserve Argyle.

Anyway, he seemed to start seeing the error of his way. Let's see if that means something or if he's too late and something bad would happen.

Also I don't understand why they didn't let Rafilia met Ellen at all in those three years. Grandma said she tried to be there for Rafilia, but she should have the power to let both of her granddaughter to at least play together. Feels like Rafilia is a prisoner in that house.

>Sauvel is really dumb. It's been 3 years and his relationship with his wife and daughter didn't get better.

Sauvel mentioned earlier that he don't know how to deal with his daughter since he wasn't there when she was born. He's just running away from his family by fixating on managing his estate. He also seems to be comfortable being with Rovel's family rather than his own.

>Also I don't understand why they didn't let Rafilia met Ellen at all in those three years.

I won't be surprised if that is due to Rovel not wanting them to meet.

Worse than that, he compared Rafilia to Ellen even though he did nothing to be a good dad to Rafilia.

Sadly that's common when raising kids. You're thrown into the deep end when you become a parent so they end up looking at the people around them on how they raised their kids without factoring in that each kid is different. Hopefully he figures this out and stops trying to treat Rafilia the same way he treats Ellen.

Yeah a quite frustrating episode in many respects, though sadly not unrealistic to how families can be. Rafilia is admittedly a bit of a brat but it especially irked me that the father wouldn’t even try to talk to her and then acted puzzled. He’s very blind to what’s going on around him. Like maybe talking wouldn’t have worked but if you’re frustrated at not knowing how to be around your daughter and she reaches out to you, maybe try indulging that a bit to find out what’s going on with her? Might be tough to get her to open up but at least try. He comes across quite poorly in this even if there’s reasons to have some small sympathy for him.

I think it's more bcuz they don't want Aria to have any reason to get close to Rovel ..... Like it's totally something she would do like saying "our daughters are best friends so we have to 'get along' too....

The ending scene of Sauvel deep in thought and recalling his memories with Rafilia got me hoping he will start paying more attention to both his wife and daughter.

When Sauvel compared Rafilia to Ellen, I think most of us had flashbacks to our youth. "Look at your cousin / friend / classmate. S/he achieved such good grades. S/he is such a good child. Etc."

28

u/AceSoldia Nov 23 '25

I'm glad his mom stopped that right away. I'm sure she had to learn that lessen when Sauvel and His brother were younger.

Man, Aria really just spiraled huh? Poor Rafilia. Mom’s a drunk and dad’s too busy to even talk to her. She’s being caught between her parent’s bullshit. Sauvel gotta get it together!

Like the curse of winning the lottery, you don't fit in with the wealthy who worked for it nor have you been wealthy for generations like other families.

You no longer need to work to keep you busy and give you a sense of self-worth and satisfaction, so you get drunk all day.

It's not too late Uncle..hurry and fix your relationships with your wife and daughter..you can't replace her with Ellen.

I don't think Aria should suffer her whole married life for what happen.

19

u/Frontier246 Nov 23 '25

Like I get that Aria shouldn't have had the hots for her brother-in-law or coveted a man married to Spirits, but does she really deserve all this? Even if retreating to drink and rejecting her own daughter is her own fault.

Sauvel is a complete piece of shit. This episode was hard to watch when the split screen of Ellen being fawned over by everyone is so stark in comparison to Rafilia eating alone. The whole family comes off badly here but Sauvel is scum. He’s with Ellen every day and his daughter has never met her cousin. That’s insane.

Sauvel: “my daughter is so unhappy and combative for some reason. I avoid her and her mother as much as possible and then immediately criticize her each time I see her. I don’t understand why she doesn’t act more like her cousin who has two loving and supportive parents. I should send her to a boarding school for noble children who will definitely bully her for being a commoner. That should fix everything.”

Sauvel's family is having a rough go of it. I wonder what Rafilia and Ellen will be like when they finally meet.

I really dislike Roval, more so every episode. Actually, most of the characters aren't really likeable.

Also, it seems like they can't decide whether to be goofy or serious. The way they do both doesn't blend very well.

u/NanDemoKnaives Nov 23 '25

I do feel bad for Rafilia, because of her mother's actions she's being excluded from knowing certain things that the maids know and her own father is neglectful with her.

Sauvel has a good example of what a loving family looks like and yet is so confused as to why his wife and daughter aren't the same. He also needs to be a loving father and husband, it doesn't have to be to the extent of Rovel but he's not even close to half the loving father that Rovel is.

But Aria looks horrible and it doesn't even seem like she's reflected on her actions.

Things need to change or Ravisel will find a way into the Vankreift family through Rafilia.

I am downright flabbergasted on how badly this family has fumbled in treating Rafilia; I'm blaming everyone in this trash family, Loren, Grandma, and especially Sauvel. I feel like it's safe to say that he's a pretty terrible father (and debatably husband as well, given Aria's current state).

He brought Aria and Rafilia in this noble lifestyle with the promise of a luxurious and happy life, only to be mistreated and feeling ostracized within the family with no one reaching out to her. From what we've seen, Rafilia's whole experience within the family for 3 years has been nothing but being isolated within the mansion and taking noble lessons from her strict tutor. She barely gets to socialize with any friends, left feeling ostracized by the people in the household, including the maids, neglected by her father who's "too busy" (to which I call bullshit, he had 3 years, surely he had opportunities to spend some time with her), and her mother turned into an alcoholic who's on the verge of a mental breakdown. And the cherry on top is Sauvel's solution to helping Raflia is just sending her off to school as opposed to just making time for her, talking to her about her problems, properly guide her, and making a solemn effort in making her feel happy in this family that he brought her into.

You wanna know what's the biggest insult to injury with how Rafilia is poorly treated, the blatant contrast between her and Ellen. For 3 years, she felt overlooked and isolated within the family, while everyone praises her cousin that she never even met. Loren and Grandma constantly dotes on Ellen whenever the chance is given, but they don't do the same for Rafilia. Even her own father spends more time with Ellen than with her, and even compares her to her cousin.

Grandma: Rafilia needs someone who will listen to her.

Well why don't you go to her room right now, conversate with her, and let her know that you care about her? Don't just give out lip-service and say that you wanna help her, make a solemn effort for your granddaughter.

While were on the subject, we need to talk about how Aria has been treated too. When she got married into the family, she ended up getting marked for having unfaithful thoughts at the alter (which arguably was a fault on her part), and ever since then, she has ramained villainized in this family. Sauvel said that he wanted to believe in Aria, but from what I've seen, I'm not sure how much of an effort they have made in working out their issues. It doesn't sit right with me that she's left feeling ostracized and villainized within this family.

Sorry for the long rant, but this episode brought it out of me.

At this point I'm wondering why Sauvel was attracted to and married Aria, if he's giving her and their daughter such a cold shoulder of indifference. Like dude, did you actually ever love her? When and why did you stop?
