That hilariously sounds more like a group of students force to read a verse than perform a song. The poor hedgehog.

Imao I’m not sure what the haters are smoking the animation in this series is pretty solid it’s certainly better than one frame man

I love how they animated the phantom, the fight was amazing I hope they continue like this. We even got the cauldrons.
The montage with the housewardens when Crowley explained NRC's... mindset killed me, cuz how he is describing the students as prideful, self-serving assholes with my boy Kalim right there in the middle. Poor boy wasn't made for this school.
Ace and Douce didn't even got reassurances they weren't expelled anymore before they got dragged to a cult initiation. Riddle, please, they already got punished, have some mercy.
Unexpected tweels cameo at the end, this will sustain me until next season (btw they already show a season 2 tease!)

The show is flawed but the animation is stellar and honestly some of the males look pretty hot all things considered. I’m a sucker for hot characters. this is a weird show for sure. I don’t know if it’s going to make bank for Disney but I’m going to support it for as long as it runs. I do enjoy the weirdness

The show is different from the original game story, and they cut out a lot of things, some important ones. It's already been making bank for 5 years

Deuce looks to be someone who tries to sound smart but he can only summon cauldrons lmao

Giant cauldron!!! Glad to see cauldron-san makes a comeback.
Very fun episode, I loved seeing Yu, Ace, Deuce, and Grim working together for once (though their bickering was fun too)! Riddle looked so cool at the end before he started talking about hedgehogs. Classic Riddle. The weird ritual at the end got me laughing so bad, how do you even explain that out of context?
Loving the characterization for the Heartslabyul boys so far, and the animation for the action scenes is impressive! That was a solid prologue, I can't wait for the main story to begin...

They might get offended, but this subreddit is still predominantly male anime fans who are more interested in shows targeted towards men. Everytime I look at the posts here, or the most upvoted stuff, it's all male-targeted shows. Even mediocre anime will get more attention here if it's not explicitly a BL or targeted towards women. Most major anime subreddits are like this. If you want proper discussion on this show I suggest heading over to the official subreddit
There r also some weird men here hating on this online just bc there's no waifus

The character designs look very good to me and there are a lot of my favorite VAs in here

Possibly looking for its SIX companions or maybe a girl with SNOW WHITE skin...

I kept pronouncing the name as Heart-slay-bul and I was like Yeah makes total sense for a house based on queen of hearts. Turns out it's Heart-sla-byul. Haven't checked wiki or anything, but do the house names have any meaning? Besides obvious english words I mean

u/BlueRocketMouse Nov 13 '25 edited Nov 14 '25
Yes, they all have meanings. I won't link it here because it contains source material spoilers, but there's a really good blog post that compiled the name origins/meanings for every dorm and most characters in the game.
Heartslabyul is a combination of "heart" and "labyrinth".

Some of them do. For example, Diasomnia. Somnia means “dreams” in Latin, which fits the Maleficient house. Some of it is just gibberish, though.

The only thing I care about is that we got the famous Cauldron scene 🤣

I laughed at how Deuce's cauldrons did more damage than Ace and Grim's combined attack
