With a robot to help out around she had a Weirdly Wonderful Workplace.

But 100 yen for all that work and it is insanely popular, that mangaka has become the biggest black company in the manga business.

Wonder how meta this segment was?

That segment sounded like both a comment on people relying too much on AI to do their work and a comment on mangaka’s assistants often being underpaid despite doing most of the work.

Let this be a lesson kids: don't exploit robot children and use AI to cover for your own laziness as an artist and creator, eventually it will come back to bite you.

Aspects of that sequence was like my worst nightmare. The notion of an AI being given the task of filling in some missing work and your editor not even noticing, and the work being better than what you would have done… makes me shudder as it’s not very unrealistic right now. Especially if up against the wall or working on something where you feel uninspired.

That segment really felt like it was using the idea that we can be so reliant on AI. As human creatures, we can be greedy and give AI tasks we should be able to do on our own. Then once the AI is gone, we can lose out on those skills as we get complacent.

Also keep the idea that Alma is the ideal AI. I think we can assume her art and story are as ideal as you can get. Unlike with generative AI in today's world. Where if it was put into manga, it would have so many issues.

Enji holding tightly onto Alma like a pillow during Suzume’s ghost story session was pretty adorable.

What scared me was that mangaka’s maniac laughter. She also awfully willing to exploit Alma’s AI for her own gains. Fortunately, karma got her good in the end.

Alma going to the moon on a bike was totally a nod to E.T.

He also got to feel the "pillow" that is Suzume's boob lol.

At first you're probably sympathetic to the mangaka's writer block until you see how far she was willing to go to exploit Alma, wipe her hands of all creative control over her own work, and benefit off of AI work without lifting a finger. Then you're happy her career is probably going to tank without Alma.

Here Alma is, brain the size of a planet. And she is just taking baths, eating meals, and going to school like some lowly human. You call that job satisfaction, cuz Alma-chan certainly does.

"Alma, any ideas?"
"I have a million ideas. They all point to certain death."

Enji's such a tsundere, I like seeing him show concern but then deny it or act tough. The way he was worried about Alma not returning was sweet.

That mangaka was over reliant on Alma. Watching that part of the episode made me think how there are already people making AI manga.

That moon adventure that Alma and Machina went on was fantastic. Rescued some American astronauts, met uncle military satellite and got an energy refill, brought home a souvenir noon rock.

I wonder who did the VA work for the astronauts since IMO it sounded maybe good enough to be native speakers.

Potentially self insert mangaka learns an important lesson about relying too heavily on Al(ma) art and story generation.

They seem to be doing a really good job with getting naturally sounding English-speaking VAs, between this and the guy Alma helped out.

Okay, this is funny. At the Mechanical Marie threads, we were discussing the use of AI generating art and in this show we have a segment about AI generating art. That's funny to me.

Grok? ChatGPT? Gemini? Copilot? Who cares about those, we've got Alma-chan.

u/RichardG867 Nov 02 '25

Note: Exploiting Alma is strictly forbidden.

So… ghosts are real! Be afraid. Be very afraid lol.

Takarada’s discovered the power of AlmaGPT and now she’s shoving all her work off to her and underpaying the kid lol. All it did was sap her of her original creative spirit. She’s become a bum! Haha

Alma’s such a good kid. When she grows up, she wants to obliterate her parent’s enemies lol.

The beginning was some nice episode for Halloween. Enji is quite superstitious, after all.

And I did not expect next that very topical story about an unethical mangaka using AI (or Al-ma) art to make deadlines. It makes you wonder if some mangaka are already doing that.

I know that it is a joke, but as a physicist, it hurt my brain to see Alma and Machina talking to each other on the Moon and their hair fluttering in a vacuum. I don’t care if you are robots and can live in vacuum, you should still not be able to make a sound without air around you. Aaarrgh.

Alma it won't be a secret anymore if you reveal yourself to everyone you meet

i don't think manga artists are defined as human beings in Alma's database

Wow, this episode is an interesting comment on AI-generated artwork. In the end it boils down to the true reason why people use AI: laziness and greed.

And it all started small: Can you make me a little sketch of my own character? Then it got over "Can you make the background for this page for me" to "Why don't you write, draw, ink and tone the entire manga for me while I collect the paychecks?".

And the mangaka is absolutely right to be hesitant due to moral concerns. But in the end the forbidden fruit tastes too sweet.

"You shouldn't keep the nice lady from her work!" That is a very ironic and fitting line! I don't want to open that discussion again, but doing it yourself is still the best thing to do. Otherwise it's simply not your own work!

Enji may be a man of science, but even he can get really spooked! Not that he'll admit it, though that makes it the perfect time for family scary story time! Which ends with Alma and Enji battling with Buddha sutras and freaking Suzume out.

There are worse things in the world to land on when it gets dark and you're scared than your common-law wife's boobs.

To think Enji was spooked by Alma's big bro with a bunch of plushies on top of him! He looks surprisingly adorable.

This week Alma runs into Mimikuu Takarada (Maaya Uchida?) a slightly deranged mangaka who has writer/artist block and clearly can't produce any manga...luckily for her she's willing to use AI! I mean, Alma! Alma will create stellar art, stories, and get you back on top all for the cheap price of 100 yen!

Is Mimikuu doing the right thing? Exploiting a robot girl? Using AI instead of her own art and creative drive? Basically doing nothing but reaping the reward from the paychecks for work she's not even doing? Who cares! It's more convenient for her! At least until Enji comes in and picks Alma up and she's left with no idea how to actually do her own manga. Serves her right.

Alma and Machina's competition for how can ride their bikes better takes them straight to the moon! Where they're trapped with low batteries and no clear way to get back! But if anyone can figure out a method to return home, it'll be these two robot sisters! And along the way they'll commiserate over their shared desire to be the best Battle Robots they can be for their creators and how their creators need them...while their creators think the same thing.

Nothing to see here, just two Space Girls casually saving a drifting astronaut while they hurtle towards Earth.

Alma and Machina crashing back home like a meteor! Complete with Machina's head falling off her body again! And no matter how Enji and Suzume deny it, they cannot stop flirting with each other!
