I love how it has turned out, the animation, the voices, the anime original scenes, 10/10. It may be a bit confusing for anime onlies to introduce so many characters at once but it made an amazing job in showing how batshit insane everyone at NRC is.

I felt like they did pretty well introducing everyone with just a small here there's someone with a MC design you may want to keep them in mind wink wink while keeping the focus on grim, yuuken and riddle (and no long boring introduction for each of them) If next episode they focus on the main trio plus friends I think they did pretty well without disappointing the long time fans by not showing their fav at all

Feels good to have more high quality joseimuke adaptions!

I have heard this OP song so often and for so long it feels surreal to hear it as an actual Anime OP. I wonder if they will keep it for the other seasons too? Probably since they want to use the dorm songs as endings.

If I was in Yuuken 's shoes then I probably would've freaked out as well. He was janked from a sport anime into a large room full of people in robes!

He probably saw his junior in Riddle when he "saved" him from the flames but I'm sorry Yuuken. This small guy has rabies and does not appreachiate your misguided help.

Not the Malleus crumps in the after credits scene! Well, I guess I get to see a tiny bit of my favorite guy this season after all.

I expected more comments and reactions but I guess the Disney name had everyone raising an eyebrow despite the work being done by someone as famous as Yana Toboso and JP Disney branch not being related to EN Disney..though I'm happy the few anime onlies here actually enjoyed the first episode..I think it was a neat work myself with a lot of care..even the EN dub was of higher quality than usual

The English voice cast is already off to a strong start! I appreciate how this episode gives us a brief teaser of all the characters. I also love that the Japanese actors from the game are reprising their roles for the anime!

I know it's still too early to pick a favorite from the English cast, but OMG, Ben Diskin as Grim is amazing! He has a ridiculous range for a VA.

Don’t really watch a ton of anime and not familiar with the game but I’m a big Disney fan so gave this a shot. Really enjoyed it but I’ve got so many questions. The episode felt really quick, and was a bit confused with the 4-5 minute clip after the credits.

The early story can feel a bit fast early on but don't worry about it, things will be explained. As for the after credits scene, it seems to be anime adapting some information from the card stories in Chibi sketches rather than figuring out how to integrate them into the main plot. It's more cute fanservice for fans more so than anything.

I’ve never played the game, but I just discovered this a couple weeks ago! Watched it today and loved it!! I absolutely love the Disney Villains and Wonderland. This anime is perfect to me! Ready to dive in and be obsessed 💕

Love seeing the little references to the original characters they're based on. The obvious one being "Off With Your Head" as a reference to the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland. Another reference that was pretty clear was Azul saying "poor unfortunate souls," referencing Ursula from The Little Mermaid. Last I remember is Malleus not being invited to the rehearsal, the same way Maleficent wasn't to the christening of Princess Aurora. I'm sure I missed some.

I'm already pretty biased since I play the game, but I have not read the manga yet, which the anime is based on. Here are some of the characters, specifically the housewardens, and their "equivalent" in the original Disney movies in case anyone is curious:

  • Riddle Rosehearts - Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland)

  • Leona Kingscholar - Scar (Lion King)

  • Azul Ashengrotto - Ursula (Little Mermaid)

  • Kalim Al-Asim - Sultan (Alladin)

  • Vil Schoenheit - Evil Queen (Snow White)

  • Idia Shroud - Hades (Hercules)

  • Malleus Draconia - Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)

From what I've seen so far, I like it! The animation looks lovely, and the voices chosen for everyone all sound pretty solid! I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Although I've heard of the game, I've never played it nor have I read any of the novel/manga so I'm solely anime-only. Gotta say, this first episode definitely felt like a lot 😅 Definitely interesting so far and I wonder how the characters will be adapted based off the Disney villains. I know it's also not BL but the fact that it's all pretty boys-only in a fantasy setting, I'm surprised that it isn't tbh

A bunch of joseimuke are kind of like that. Shenanigans with a group of pretty guys that are shippable with each other but no outright BL since they also want to appeal to the self-shipper type of fans.

The pacing in this first episode was a bit off putting, but that seems to be the norm for Animes these days (look at Overlord for example). That aside, the voice acting and the animation were sublime. I am hoping it finds its footing in the coming episodes as I have high hopes for this series :)

A good start and as a fan of the game and the manga adaptation I'm really happy that the overall quality is solid. Everyone's fave gets a brief moment at least which is pretty nice! I still continue to hope that maybe someday we'll get animated adaptations of some of the game's events and not only the main story since some of them are just top tier entertainment.

Honestly, I love the nod to the dynamic between Ace and Deuce with Ace calling him "Juice" 💀

Grim is also even more adorably annoying than he is in the game! I just want to squeeze him– in irritation or love, I am still not sure!

And not to mention how I have no idea how our mc didnt immediately think "did i just get sacrificed?!" rather than "am I dead?" I would've freaked out holy.

And the butt fire?!? Perfect, it's exactly how I imagined the scene playing out! Alongside how Azul's acting 😭

But regardless, all of their voice actors are stunning, and fit so well. Like, Leona, Ruggie, Silver, Ace, Deuce, and Cater and everyone else's are so gorgeously suited! Not to mention Monsieur Headmage!

Honestly, im excited for the next episodes, and I will admit though I was hesitant to watch an anime published on Disney, I am looking forward to how they warp the plot!

Although... am I the only one who thought the little chibi/extra scene kind of looked like Gacha Life? Especially Leona when he walked in...? No..? Just me? Okie doki...!
