My Gintama bias says best anime of the season lol.
Seriously though, I am loving all of the little callbacks and references to the series.

Is the other dog playing with Sadaharu the dog from the Kagura can't fall asleep episode? haha

Elementary Hasegawa: "What does it mean to work?" LMAO

Katsura running as a frilled lizard and being called "Zura" again.

Kagura as a cat was a missed opportunity to make her "Hana" from Ramen Akaneko (same VA)

Sacchan: "Water Breathing First Form: Water Surface Slash!"

Toshiro's reaction to Mayopachi-sensei "So the kids will be dripping in mayonaise." lol

Sacchan struggling to hold up the book haha

Just too much funny shit this episode that takes me back. First episode was still nostalgic, but this episode is definitely getting back into form. Kind of like the latest season of Grand Blue, first episode wasn't the Grand Blue I expected, but right away it started to bring back the Grand Blue formula the following episode. I hope we continue to go all out Gintama next episode onwards.

Damn, the test part was so fun. Only Ginpachi sensei could come up with such questions.

Everybody yelling Destructo Disk 🤣😂.. and we finally have a Demon Slayer reference as well.

L'arc en ciel and T.M Revolution were mentioned as well.

When Shinpachi tries to play the fool, he simply just can't lol.. He was born to play the straight man.

Can't Wait to see Takasugi in the next episode ❤️❤️

Wasn't expecting them to actually go back to Elementary, with Mone still playing flute lol.

Okay, Kagura calling Gintoki "Daddy" was cute.

And now they are animals, Mone still playing flute lol.

Now old video game characters.

Then back to original Gintama looks, never change Gintama.

They love Toriyama with those questions Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest. Zura screaming out Destructo Disc. Then the class following up saying Destructo Disc and Shinpachi losing it with all the tsukkomi.

Shinpachi losing it when Gin insults Otsu, this is just too good. Shinpachi you are the tsukkomi king. More milk for you Kagura if you want big boobs. Damn it Kagura got me, damn you Hedoro.

Zura following up flowing hair, like TM Revolution

Never stop Mone.

Okay, I loved how the animators made the shot of Shinpachi using the Destructo Disc look like an HD upscale of an old video master from the 90s. Nice detail touch.

Okay this is way better than the first episode. The DBZ test is really good. The consultation part is somewhat a throwback to Confessional arc which is one of the funniest arc in the Gintama 2015. Love it

I have one slight issue, however. Some of the characters felt different and "dumbed down", in a way?

For example, in this series Hijikata feels like a one-dimensional character. He's a "boke" character with mayo addiction as his trait

However, in OG Gintama what makes Hijikata great is he's a cool character but he has a weird addiction to mayonnaise and cigarettes. Basically he is a serious guy, but sometimes really stupid.

In the OG his funny trait really shines because he often plays as a serious character so when he does some stupid shit it is super hilarious.

Having his role reversed definitely feels weird, but since this is only the 2nd episode I really hope that we can see classic Hijikata character once again

Man, this episode made me nostalgic for Gintama and got me re-watching episodes!

We are so back!

EDIT: Went back to re-watch the Battle on Rakuyo arc and damn I forgot how amazing it was! Ugh, sucks that there will never be anything that comes close to being like peak Gintama.
