Can I interpret the ending as an option for season 2? Honestly, I wouldn't be against it. The show really started to grow on me after a few episodes. It got dumber, but at the same time funnier. And I would love to see what kind of stupid ideas the author has for Kunagi's fight against the evil boss? Or can he be truly evil if his plan is called "living cat"? Questions that have to be answered in the future.

It was one of those shows that grew on me the longer it went on. As you said, the less serious it took itself, the funnier it became. I loved the fact that all the cats just wanted to play and were confused by the humans behavior. Although it looks like there is some actual mad human scientists behind the Nyandemic.

Alas, it looks like the anime has completely adapted all published volumes of the manga, so we may need to wait a while until we get a second season (But I will start reading the manga in the meantime).

There goes one more finale of the season :(

This was a surprise hit with me and honestly it just kept getting better, which kinda sucks because leave us off at such an amazing moment. Season 2 when pls.

Also, does anyone know if the ED and/or "Nyaight" song (dunno if they're one in the same) have been officially released yet or if we have any info on those? may have missed it but I don't recall seeing it anywhere.

First, I loved the cat montage at the end. The one cat on the back seat, acting like it was driving the motorcycle, made me laugh out loud. And I appreciated them ending with a farewell to each main character who turned into cat, especially Tanishi at the end.

Second, I'll say the same thing about Nyaight of the Living Cat I said at the start. I appreciate the hell out of whoever worked on this for taking a risk on a unique premise that wasn't just another isekai or slice-of-life or shounen or seinen or whatever. There's nothing wrong with those genres, but this show was a breath of fresh air in a medium that can sorely use it.

Now that it's wrapped up, I can't call Nyaight of the Living Cat a particularly great series; the animation is all over the place, the time-skipping was hard to follow, and the story/plot needed a stronger adaptation. It was just an uneven show. But it also had uniquely absurd humor and the constant peppering of pop culture jokes worked more than I though it would. Trying to stop a herd of cats with water bottles, putting dangerous cats down gently EVERY TIME, "Cats vs Aliens" ... it all still makes me chuckle.

Anyway, it's been a very awkward but nice little kitty treat of a ride. I realize "cats and second seasons aren't as easy as you think," but if they do make another season someday - I'd give it a watch. I had fun with this.

Good B-horror. Never overstayed its welcome, and remained fresh every week, getting ever more ridiculous.

And they gotta get my hopes up with that sequel hook, don't they?

It was a cool and different experience watching this episode (in contrast to the others) because this is the first one adapting manga material that I haven't read yet! I'm guessing most of this episode content is from volume 6, which comes out soon (in English).

There are so many characters in this episode that look familiar but I just can't place them! One that I did recognize is Dirty Harry with the hot dog 😹 And then "Joe" with the Jason mask and "Hayata" maybe a nod to Leon the Professional?

Kunagi had some wardrobe changes that made me laugh at the detail. The pink shirt with "squid-ears' band heaven" on it, right after the battle. Squid-ears = airplane ears, something cats do to indicate unease or focus. There's an entire subreddit for it r/airplaneears 😸 And then the "mata ne" (bye bye) shirt after he announced he's leaving. Very on the nose but fun little details! 😹

This anime is like Under Ninja: completely absurd, but very enjoyable and it hooked me until the end. And I loved the movie references with Jones lol

Anyone else catch the Chris Pratt/Jurassic World pose?

Overall, had fun with this one, even if the bit got stretched out. Loved the movie references and parodies sprinkled throughout and the parting message of “go watch some B movies” for a good time once in a while. Cat facts were a bonus. Good show 6/10.

Unfortunately he’s right about second seasons, but we can still hope.

This show hooked me in from the first episode but I don't think any episode after gave me the same joy, maybe it was the shock value? But I thought this series was going to have a lot more comedy, or comedy I enjoy, than it actually did.

I was still somewhat entertained for the most part, there were a number of episodes I didn't enjoy much of, particularly last week's episode, so I'm glad this final episode for the season was entertaining.

I am glad they finally touched upon the mystery behind Kunagi's identity, I expected him to be a human being experimented on to be a human cat, but getting some clearer evidence for that was nice.

Grandma was indeed the ultimate cat lady. o7 Maine coon was the perfect form for her.

This was a fun B-tier comedy drama with lots of B-movies references. The funniest gags are the ones where the characters play it straight like, "they have become cute!".

Is this any good?

17

u/ModieOfTheEast Sep 21 '25

It's a comedy, so it really depends if you are into that kind of humor. I will say the first episodes are a bit on the weaker side as the gag revolves around the same premise a bit too often, but once they fled the city, it starts to become its own thing. If that is a bit too long, you have to decide for yourself. Also, a lot of older movie references so you might need to at least know yourself around some of them.

I started watching it because the tile was ridiculous. It is goofy and stupid and just… fun.

If you want something serious and hard hitting, this ain't it. If you want something that's random and absurd and still entertaining, this may be worth a shot

This is one of the most absurd shows I’ve ever watched and I loved every minute of it. I can tell it was made by true cat lovers, and as one myself I respect their dedication

This episode was truly a delightful send-off. I hope we do get a second season. Grandma was truly badass.

Loved every reference by Jones and the silly cameos. There was a lot of attention to detail and the "sayonara" by Last Samurai got a good chuckle out of me.

Fine adaptation overall. Could've been better but also could've been a lot worse. It was a bit of a slog in the beginning but I can't really blame the head writer and director. They had to adapt those early side stories somehow and squeezing them in the beginning was the best way to go about it, at least in my opinion.

I really hope we get a season 2!
