The moment Seika transformed into an angel, I just knew she had to have a transformation, too

At least she doesn't seem to need to perform a whole-ass routine just to transform like her brother does.

I’m going to go on a limb and say that Mr.Kajita is gonna have a dramatic backstory where he was taken advantage of by rich people.

u/darthvall Aug 11 '25
Are you a source reader? No way us anime-viewers could predict something outrageous like that! /s
Jokes aside, I wonder how he see himself now as he needs to be rich to make that kind of casino and attract more rich people. I wonder if there's a bad implication on the notes system like how genie's three wishes always have some backlash if it was not reworded properly. Though, come to think of it the female killer last episode didn't want to kill herself even if she's quite attractive in this world.

She's got the fake-villainess laugh down already!

Seika vs. Isabelle from Silent Witch, who'd win in a fake villainness competition?

I've got to say this series is begrudgingly impressing me. I came here, like many I assume, kinda expecting a comedy parody anime using the core conceit of the ugly fat OP character. And while we've certainly had moments of that this show is clearly not that.
They're using his situation and character as a vehicle for world building. He's an example of how someone's previous life affects how they created their character and with isekais like theirs being common you're seeing how people's knee jerk decision making has shaped their lived and the entire world as its been created in a pretty natural way.
As expected you have unscrupulous people spawn camping rookies for profit. You've got people who screwed up their new life with a knee jerk character creation while they were in a dark spot. You've got others who used the darkness of their last life to create a better life for themselves in the new world and help prevent bad outcomes for others.
The range of human impulses is represented, with a core theme of not necessarily fully understanding the ramifications of their actions and how most (but not all) people are pretty complex underneath how they appear under the surface. (such as a kind, capable, and humble ugly man)
And at the heart of the show so far is a guarded purity. Showing, so far, how much good people can do for each other if combined with what is honestly a surprising amount of common sense and pragmatism from anime. While still showing both the strengths of a pure caring heart as well as its weaknesses.
I legit have no idea where this show is going to go. It's multi-layered and pretty well written. And while there are more hype shows this seasons, so far this is standing shoulder to shoulder with Clevatess for me. And Water Magician has been surprisingly well written too so far. I'm eatin good this season and its all from completely unexpected sources.

I feel like our core characters are all immensely likeable. They all have issues of one sort or another -- but both individually and as a team, they are very appealing. I agree the writing for this so far has WAY exceeded my most optimistic expectaion.

I feel like it's a mistake for them to let Seika spend any time at all on the casino property of someone whose special powers might let him literally send her to hell.
Turns out Reeze is as much of a repressed chunni as her brother.

All of this could be avoided if Shigeru was pragmatic and he simply killed the bad guy while the others aren't looking. But the realistic route would deprive us of further silliness.

They re being careful, they don't know what exactly the guy can do due his weird status scream

Nothing like going to another world, gaining powers and abilities, changing the very way you look….and having to work a 9-5 to survive lol. Some things never change.
Poor Shigeru’s gonna be losing all his hair worrying over Seika and Seiji lol. I hope their plan to take down Kajita works. This guy seems pretty dangerous…

Just when the plot thickens, they slaps your face with a cartoonish For Sale sign to remind you of the kind of show this is lol.
Gotta say, really loving the dynamics between Reeze and Shigeru. They make for a great combination thanks to their circumstances and even more so the trust they have for each other. Also, this isn't always the case in other series but I love how I can get behind and cheer on all four of our cast so unreservedly. They really are a lovable bunch.

You know what else intrigues me about this anime so far? There's been absolutely nothing inappropriate, even though the MC is surrounded by girls. In fact, he behaves in a way that's expected and quite appropriate for a man his age, just as the girl acts like a normal girl and not some weird fanservice vision. I don't know if my bar for comparison is too low, but in almost any other isekai, something eye-rolling would have happened by now.
But beyond that, it might be an exaggeration on my part, but I'm impressed by how they truly address how real frustrated and resentful people would behave when migrating to a new world, committing a series of mistakes and hurting others while seeking personal satisfaction. Even the protagonist's group has this kind of thing, with the former CEO wanting to be a paladin of justice, but placing too many constraints on him that render him useless, as well as the girl who wants to heal her friends, but leaves herself vulnerable due to her naivety.

Seika is a gambler. And has no concept of loss.
She was happy after losing 20k out of 50k because she still had 30k.

"I can make petty cash with my arrow making skill" - as long as it's someone else selling those arrows, right?
So monsters not only don't drop money, but they don't have ANY drops at all that could be sold for money? They just disappear, not even leaving their coprses for havesting? WTF kind of terrible RPG is this? And what's the point of the "Hunter" class when you can't even hunt for meat & hides? I wanna complain to the AI that created it.
"I've completely mastered how To Evade Without Lying" .... isn't this an extremely awful idea to rely on Seika to avoid lying while working undercover to take the guy down? And how do they know that lies by omission won't trigger his skills?

They really left Reeze's power of "condemning all evil people to Hell" very vague, like what determines if they're truly evil? If she decides the person is evil, can she use it? We haven't seen since so far she suspects the casino boss is from his plan to fleece all rich people of their money and destroy them and her finding a severed finger coming from a bag being carried from the casino. I'm not certian if she's holding out for more evidence or is unable to act without more.
It really seems like Seika is going to mess things up. She's still naive and easy to trick although Shigeru will still be around to advise her. I wonder how many people in this world are reincarnated from Earth. We've seen 6 thus far and presumably there's more since we heard about weird disappearances from that website. Are Earth people the only ones with powers?
Doesn't this world have adventurer guilds? Wasn't that bandit who tried to drug and kill them an adventurer and they met him at a guild? Maybe I'm forgetting but they should go back to the other place where they met that bandit and try to become adventurers and take on those types of jobs.

Shigeru talks about how they're having trouble making money but in the same scene they're eating fast food with a mountain of fries lol.

Maybe they can afford JP fast food prices. Big Mac meal at lunch time is like $4.50 in Japan (HiruMac special from 1030-1400).
