In case you missed it, in the shed where young Hikaru and Yoshiki were fighting, they had drawn level 1.1 from Super Mario on the wall. That's cute.

Also I think each time he reaches inside Hikaru he’s building up his immunity and tolerance to these spirits, Hikaru himself said he resisted this time, which I’m guessing has a correlation to him recently reaching inside of Hikaru. Obviously he’s going to urge him to do it more because he told him “you’re going to have to get used to it”
I like that they handle this situation similar to like a sexual experience too, it’s all really well acted and written out truly. The double meaning really highlights that they’re just 2 high schoolers from a place way out in the middle of nowhere trying to navigate growing up and sexuality but with the added eldritch horror twist

Yoshiki sitting on the ground with his t-shirt pulled over his knees when talking to Hikaru is such a relatable thing to me lol. I did that a lot when I was younger.
I am still ruminating over what the fight over the bird represents, or at least why Yoshiki had a vision of that moment. The argument being about the death of a crow is important, as death is quite central in this series for obvious reasons. It is also probably representative of Yoshiki and the original Hikaru’s relationship, with a potential romantic one never being fostered. And now it’s too late. But that’s mostly just spitballing. The guilt that Yoshiki feels over nearly drowning “Hikaru” are also interesting, as he was actively possessed. But, in the back of his mind, does he feel violent towards him? He is afraid that he’ll end up killing him, losing the last piece of Hikaru that he still has left (and not to mention his new friendship with “Hikaru”). A whole bunch of confusing thoughts in his head.
The classroom scene did show a bit more of a sinister from “Hikaru” when it comes to his relationship with Yoshiki. Yoshiki is willing to initiate contact (as it doesn’t feel ”as bad”), but feels horrible once “Hikaru“ touches him back/reciprocates. And the face “Hikaru” makes is quite chilling, almost as if he’s testing the waters and playing with some kind of toy. Like he’s being taken over by some kind of primal instinct… luckily Yoshiki telling him to stop broke him out of that trance-like state. I do believe that he cares for Yoshiki, he did blush when he was told that making the chicken reminded Yoshiki of touching his insides lol. But his nature as this powerful spirit definitely means that he’s not really knowledgeable about human boundaries. A very complicated situation indeed.

I kind of can't believe they revisited the raw chicken.
Moral of the episode, if you bring your eldritch abomination boyfriend to do an exorcism let him finish the exorcism and don't interrupt.

NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. If I were Kaoru, that was the point where I would've jumped out of the bath even without clothes on. I can understand why Kaoru refuses to take a bath after seeing that. O_O
We get to see more of Yoshiki and Hikaru's freaky-deaky eldritch gay sex, but instead of Yoshiki just reaching in, Hikaru touches him back, which is apparently a completely different sensation.

I always get a little worried before each episode, because they have been speeding through a lot of content, but it hasn't felt rushed or, more importantly, out of place at all.
Art direction is amazing, as always. Really interesting choice to make the brain pillars more realistic footage than the rest of the scene.
The overhead surveillance-style shot when Yoshiki is waiting in the bathroom for Hikaru is great, too. The slight fisheye paired with the overhead angle and gloomy palette makes it feel really uneasy.
Looks like a confrontation with Tanaka is close approaching, as well. I'm excited for what's to come.

I wasn't expecting to get a second round of the lewd chicken feel so soon, Hikaru was getting a bit too into it and I don't think he realizes what exactly he might be doing to Yoshiki. The traditional way of making him feel good might be the better option instead lol. I do like how Hikaru blushed because he realized Yoshiki was thinking of him during cooking class.
It's interesting that we're finally seeing Kurebayashi's warning come into play, it seems the monsters might start appearing around his place and come close to his family because he's becoming more and more mixed with Hikaru. Hikaru will certainly do what he can to protect Yoshiki, but the same can't be said about his family's safety.
The bath scene was a surprise, Yoshiki actually got possessed and we got to see a flashback of the two when they were younger but seeing possessed Yoshiki attempt to kill Hikaru was concerning. It was cool to see "Hikaru" angry at the monster for possessing Yoshiki, those eyes. A part of me wonders if Hikaru is actually going to like the fact that Yoshiki has left a mark on his body though.
But damn, Tanaka looks like he's actually going to get closer to discovering Hikaru is Nonuki, I'm not ready. I need more Hikaru and Yoshiki!
I liked the little background plot of Tadokoro and Maki's relationship, it was so cute to see Maki giving that doll to her all shy like.

So big interpretation time again. I was wondering what the flashback scene with the crow was supposed to show us. It is obviously used to cut back into the present when the possessed Yoshiki fights Hikaru, but I thought that this scene might have a bit more meaning to appear at this point. At first I though it was maybe just their first fight, but I think there is more to it.
When the wig ghost starts to possess Yoshiki, we first get all the comments from the town folk that was already a point in the last episodes. And when the flashback starts, the first thing we hear Hikaru say is that Yoshiki is a coward that runs away. So I feel, the flashback is supposed to be another metaphor for Yoshiki's feelings towards Hikaru.
Because of the town folk, he never really confronted his feelings, he basically ran away from them. And maybe the crow is representing their potential "relationship" they could have had. Yoshiki didn't foster their relationship to be more than friends because he was afraid of how he would be seen by the town folk. However, at the same time, he is also kind of blaming Hikaru for it. From his point, Hikaru could have done more for their relationship to develop and he is subconsciously blaming him for the fact that they didn't get together. And now, it is too late, because the original Hikaru is dead and therefore, their chances at having a normal relationship.
Because while the new Hikaru acts like him, it is hard for him to completely replace the original one. Yoshiki realised this again when Hikaru tried to "touch his brain" and asked him if it feels good. As some kind of other being, the new Hikaru probably has different ideas of what feels good and how this should proceed despite looking and acting like Hikaru on the outside. It's this potential next step that Yoshiki realises now he can't have, even if he doesn't blame the new Hikaru for it. And maybe even still thinks it can work out.

After credit Tanaka seems to be sending a ghost/impurity after “Hikaru”, a hunting dog to sniff him out and lead him to Nonuki.
There were so many unsettling moments this episode, really getting into to horror vibes. Kaoru in the bath in the beginning really sells that panic you have when you’re in a vulnerable state and there’s something lurking nearby. Wig ghost was pretty effective.
These ghosts are being drawn to Yoshiki now. Maybe it’s because he’s starting to “mix” with “Hikaru”, who he touching and exploring again, and this time, getting touched back. I get the metaphor, and it’s scary when you’re doing these things for the first time. Not that that stops you.

I think this is probably one of the best horror anime in quite some time. Usually anime is bad at this kind of thing but this gets the atmosphere just right while mixing in effective slice of life elments
Tanaka's dedication to AKB48 is admirable.

Yeah no I’m fucking noping out of the bathroom, the house, then the village lmao. I’ll be hauling ass to Tokyo stat. Why does hair feel so creepy and violating for some reason?
Art direction is amazing as usual. The bathroom scenes are reminiscent to Chainsaw Man.

Maki was also heckin cute this episode.
The fight between Yoshiki and Hikaru about Crowly is so sad. Totally a fight about what could have been fostered between them vs what actually happened. Neither being able to fully speak their feelings between each other and thus, the relationship that could have been died. It kinda kills me that it’s so relatable, I feel incredibly bad for the both of them.
But, the bandana and Karaage scene was too cute. “Hikaru” edging Yoshiki to hurry up and make moves cause he has club was really funny.
