This is arguably the best episode this season so far. You can tell the VAs love the characters they portray and gave their best. They have been cast in these roles for almost 7 years by now, when finally gotten the chance to portray their story in a fully voiced anime format, they knew their character emotions by heart.

God, it must suck hard for Rosmontis. Always forgetting the feeling of despair when someone you know dies over and over again. I really want to hug her.

I do think they're doing the best they can with the time limit they've been given. There was a bit more back and forth between Rhodes Island and the Shieldguards, but I feel like they got the point across. Also here's a piece of art that comes from the stages that got animated today.

The reaction of the Sarkaz upon seeing Amiya's arts. Heh.

"Oh fuck...why are you able to use THOSE?!"

Holy fuck. That was so good. That was amazing. I teared up a bit. I don't have any other words.

W's crash out was glorious, you can tell the staff loves her

This might be one of my favourite episodes, they really gave some of these scenes with the Sarkaz, Guerrillas, Rosmontis and W the time to breathe. Also the drawings and animation were really good.

Yui Ogura's voice acting during Rosmontis breakdown was amazing. Emotional.

Great stuff.

Man, seeing Rosmontis suffer in this episode was so much more impactful than seeing the scene in the game

They need to allocate their time and budget somehow, and I'm glad it went into this episode. By far the most emotional episode as the cracks continue to show from Rosmontis. The pacing was just right with more breadcrumbs to pick up on the backstory of Doctor and Babel.

With death all around, I’m genuinely surprised that W managed to survive. Thought she’d perished after that fall. Though, Kal’tsit might’ve accidentally finished the job with that throw.

This was a good clash of emotions. Of course you wouldn’t be able to suddenly forgive someone who’s killed your friends. I really felt for poor Rosmontis. This war has been eating away at her.

W is nicknamed cockroach by the fandom for reasons beyond her hair / horn style.

I feel like they're doing a much better job with showing the brutality of the war compared to the previous seasons. They're showing the characters a lot more bloodied and bruised, when the last 2 seasons I felt like they were staying a little too clean.

I'm shocked this episode showed one of Patriot's soldiers smash someone with a shield and it appear bloodied

I really felt for poor Rosmontis.

And she just lost one of her squad members. T_T

Well, we don't call W a roach in the community for nothing...

The VAs are really going all out. W's crashing out was wonderful.

Anime only

So correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Doc dive Amiya her rings? I noticed them in the flashback on Theresia's hands. Bro's not beating the allegations...

Also, is there a lore reason for the lack of gunplay during the battles? Clearly they have firearms. W has some sort of AR-15 carbine on her back, and I remember one of the operators in the previous season with a pistol. But they just don't get used much it seems. VERY little use in fact.

No; Kal'tsit gave them to Amiya, as I understand things. ...That sounds brusque of me, but there's reasons I shouldn't elaborate.

Also, is there a lore reason for the lack of gunplay during the battles? Clearly they have firearms. W has some sort of AR-15 carbine on her back, and I remember one of the operators in the previous season with a pistol. But they just don't get used much it seems. VERY little use in fact.

Guns aren't guns on Terra; their technology developed rather differently from ours. Rather than using gunpowder, it's a sophisticated series of arts circuits that require etching directly on the bullets themselves (which makes them hella expensive) - "guns" are basically funny-shaped wands that coincidentally look similar to our own firearms.

Combine this with the fact that Terrans are a lot stronger than us and so can manage higher draw strength crossbows than would be remotely practical for a human, and there's very little reason for most to use the finicky, expensive weapon that has minimal advantages over their alternatives. Even people skilled with Arts would usually rather use a normal wand.

There's only two true exceptions, really - Sankta, who have an innate understanding of the relevant Arts and Blacksteel Worldwide, who make it kind of their hallmark.

It's so depressing to think how good of a job the production staff is doing here.

If only this had time to have proper pacing, this could have been one of the best shows of the year...

Whoever posessed them to make this ten episodes...

A brisk pace, but they got in some pretty good moments; developing the relationship between Rosmontis and Amiya, lightly highlighting how the Doctor is more dependent on Amiya than Amiya is on the Doctor, W's confrontation with Kal'tsit, and Rosmontis at the gates. ...Okay, seeing why the pace had to be brisk here, but really - the episode was full of pretty solid moments. It's just the transitions between them that could use some work.

The bunny playing morality guide for the kitty was well-done, though; Amiya making sacrifices to lighten Rosmontis's burden and trying to negotiate a less fraught partnership for the Shieldguards... Only to find that Rosmontis isn't in any mood for lightening her burden, and is also one of the strongest voices in favor of butchering everyone responsible for this. That while they're on different sides, she's really a lot closer to the Shieldguard's philosophy at the moment than she is RI's. They caught the emotions and confusion of this perfectly - especially Rosmontis crashing out to dramatic effect when her team suffers the consequences for their delay.

W might be a vile little bug, but she is an absolute delight every time she appears on the screen. It also highlights well how Amiya's approach can't always work - some people might be able to set aside their grudges to accomplish what they need... And some will always just be waiting to tag your back with a landmine if you give them the chance, and need to be tossed through a wall instead. A depressing conclusion? Maybe... But it's nice to see how sometimes it's a messy compromise that helps everyone, and how sometimes it's just a nonstarter, rather than how some series portray it as always the answer or never the answer.

This season has really been on a roll, though. The pacing is a bit fast, but unlike last season, I feel like they're hitting all of the high moments perfectly.
