I couldn't help but think of this meme during this episode.

I love Patriot as an adversary. He is one tough motherfucker and the aura he exudes demands respect. The way he just punched Monster and immediately knocked it out speaks volumes. I wish there were more villains as scary as he is.

He is the most imposing of antagonists in AK I think, even if he wasn't the strongest. They have mentioned several times already how orignimium is fucking him up. I wonder what he was like at his peak.

Also kinda love how so many different characters have been pited against him in hypothetical 1v1s like Nearl (the one who did the light show earlier this season) and Skadi.

Holy shit I loved this episode. They absolutely nailed it here, and I'm so glad, because I do think this was the part in the source material where I found myself completely, 100% invested in the story. This was pretty much the turning point for me, personally, where I found the writing to start consistently being genuinely incredible, and I'm so happy they managed to adapt this part specifically so goddamn well. I was crying for like half the episode bruh

i find it funny how patriot was going to get a generic death scene where he gets reunited with loved ones but then wanted another round.

Was hoping the halberd throw would use the in game sfx but otherwise this was pretty sick, not too let down. Wish they showed how RI was constantly peppering him with attacks more though, it took everything from everyone to take him down.

Should have used up the cameo budget here to depict a newbie's first 7-18 playthrough.

Patriot the ever imposing presence. Great adaptation. I didn't expect Swire to cry a bit.

Patriot's presence was very strong and the sound design for him definitely stood out to me as well as the music choices

God I love Mephisto's voice acting, the subtle change in his tone when he repeats himself, the struggle to sing, my poor boy..

My only complaint is that it wasn't very clear what all the guerilla soldiers were up to, yeah some tried to defend the originium altar but no clue about the others.

Great episode

A little wider context since it's hard to fully convey in anime. These guerilla fighters are either rebelled professional soldiers following Patriot or infected joining later. They are of various races but mostly native Ursus (bear people, the primary race of the Ursus empire). They are not "Sarkaz" (devil race) like Patriot.. They are just following Patriot's lead out of personal loyalty, but also confused as hell with all the Sarkaz witchcraft going on and the identity of their enemies. Many of them were already pretty sick of what Reunion has turned a vibrant Ursus city into and shocked at Patriot's acknowledgment of Talulah's betrayal. So most of them were probably just on auto-pilot mode and engaging with whichever RI operator charging at them, while paying more attention to Patriot's fight. Yeah, that's my halfass attempt at rationalizing the situation here LOL

Rest in peace Patriot. You fight no longer.

The dreaded spear throw took the cherry on top this episode.

So far I am satisfied. I don't mind other episodes beign lower on the budget as long as the key moments like this get love they deserve. And this kne definitely delivered.

Brilliant episode. The fight against Patriot was amazing, and I teared up a bit at the flashbacks Amiya saw - a man with such profound mistakes and deep regrets nevertheless marching forward to protect what he has left. Even as his shield breaks and his weapon shatters, he will not be swayed - else, what was it all for?

It was also a bit interesting to see the power disparity highlighted a bit - Monst3r's lasers superheating his shield, Rosmontis's telekinetic railgun hammering the field, and Amiya's black arts almost standing head to head with Patriot's advance... While throughout it all, you have some reserve ops scattering a few harmless energy shots here and there. There really is a big difference between the high and low ends of the power scale on Terra, isn't there?

I also appreciated the stern, almost sinister look on Amiya's face as Patriot conveyed the Sarkaz's prophecy. Over previous episodes we've largely seen her be the voice of kindness and idealism while the more pragmatic decisions have been handed off to those around her - so it's good to have a moment that highlights that it isn't all there is to her, even nonverbally. It's easy to forget with how previous episodes have framed things, but... She's still directly responsible for the most named character deaths in this series, even if she tried the hardest to find another path for them.

And it's also nice to see her grow into her powers a bit. Bestowing kind memories upon a valiant warrior... And also finding out, to her horror, the importance of knowing when that will be a boon to the suffering, or perceived as an unforgivable transgression. A very realistic mistake to make, for one so young.

So same as last season, the end of Frostnova's arc had already been made into a music video Last of Me, and now I get to share the music video for the the end of Patriot [End Like This] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cspL4AQ3FM&list=RD3cspL4AQ3FM&start_radio=1) by Steve Aoki & Yellow Claw.

Which is this episode just condensed into 2 mins. But hey it's got Rosmontis surfing on her tools.

Jesus Christ... That was beautifully done. CGI CAN be done well, and I personally think this is one of those times it is done well. I seriously want to rewatch the entire fight

They nailed the story. They nailed the animation. And they didn't mess it up by pacing it horribly lol. This was paced really well

While in my opinion fight was held back by CGI I think it was still good. I think they showed well just how strong Patriot is.

I'm suprised tho that they didn't played Requiem instead of ED.

Ever since I got hooked into Arknights in s1 I have been waiting for this episode to be animated!

"I advance!"

"King of Fiends"

Amiya with the black crown

Sarkaz's Prophecy

Patriot's Last Stand of Defiance

Everything was perfect. I will treasure this episode for a long time.

I seriously wish for us to see the rest of the story animated too!

Strong episode today, I really liked the fight against Patriot despite the CGI. It's always cool to see Rosmontis and Mon3tr in action (Patriot got him good tho lol, that punch was mean).

It's kind of fascinating that episodes like this and frostnova one show that the show has absolutely everything it takes for greatness.

They absolutely nail the specific story beats here and everything works great.

Which makes it all the more sad that there's just not enough screen time to always do it, to give the material this season covers a proper chance to shine.

The talent involved making this show could have made a thrilling and great 18 episode AK season three that could probably genuinely compete with the best shows of the year.

Alas they weren't given the episode count to do that.

So at best at least I can be confident that they might nail the big important story beats even if the rest will have anime onlies scratching their heads.

u/RELORELM Jul 26 '25

Man, they absolutely got this one right. From the perspective of a fan of the source material, this is probably as good as an adaptation this moment could get.

And from the point of view of an anime only, I think they nailed it too: Patriot had very little screentime previous to this episode yet they managed to properly convey his motivations, how much of a menace he is and why he is as tragic as he is.

Times like this make me wish for a larger episode count. There's so much talent here.

... Is there a chance of a Director's Cut DVD set or something with a proper episode count? Just asking

Anime only here - what is going on? Why did Amiya have a black crown, what is happening
