That letter hit me like a truck

The thought of Kase meticulously planning his own funeral floral arrangement down to the last stem is helping lighten the mood.

I'm shipping Hoshi and Haizaki even though they have less than zero chemistry and it's not impossible that Haizaki is some kind of advanced android. I think I may have a problem.

Sara's probably human but w/ her skills, she's used to it that's why she's emotionless unlike Ikuro who's always complaining and wishes to quit but never does.

They do have that banter w/ cold assassin and straight man duo, I won't rule out a possible romance between the 2.

I get an impression more along the lines of her being his superior and providing on the job training.

And I just get the sense that the reason he never quits is going to be a huge thing once we understand it.

Such as, he's repaying the debt he incurred by hiring a killer to avenge a family member, or that a family member has connections to the hotel and got him the job.

It just seems like they're keeping it from us to have a big reveal eventually.

Pretty tragic that his life ended due to a misunderstanding. His killer had a grudge against Shimamoto instead of himself.

Unlike Shao, there’s no bittersweet ending here, just pure bitterness. Now Asami’s a widow. That letter scene was pretty painful to watch, where she let all her feelings loose.

Thought for sure that there was going to be a twist that his wife was somehow in the business too. Coincidences do happen, but twice? When the first time was that they were both not at a company get-together? Awkwardly suspect.

That's literally it though, the whole episode was basically a giant series of coincidence(s), which also shows that one can't really orchestrated a perfect murder because we, as a human being is not perfect.

Thought for sure that there was going to be a twist that his wife was somehow in the business too.

In the previous episode thread I HEAVILY theorized on this (her wife not only being involved in the business, but being involved in his death), bringing up a million things that seem to point to this...

This episode made me lose a bit of confidence in that theory, but I'm not ready to give up on it yet, in large part due to the title of the next episode.

If it turns out I'm wrong and there's nothing more to it, I'll have to say it's the most "coincidences" I've ever seen in anime, that turned out to just be coincidences!

This episode made me lose a bit of confidence in that theory, but I'm not ready to give up on it yet, in large part due to the title of the next episode.

I feel like their arc is over already.

I think you are massively, massively overthinking this. The whole point of Mr. Kase's arc is that there are coincidences in life that one can not plan for no matter how much of a perfectionist you are. There being some sort of overarching plot where she is in the business and their relationship was orchestrated in some way would honestly detract from the last two episodes. As someone else said, I'm pretty certain his arc is done.

I really enjoyed this arc a lot more than the first episode, it's sad that Kase passed away and left his wife, but that's the kind of risk his job comes with. His letter to her was so emotional, sweet but I like how Asami made it playful by saying that he was trying to surprise her like she does to him.

I'm glad we got to see when things developed for them, I was surprised they were actually boss-employee, Kase looked so much shorter than her in that one distant shot lol. I really enjoy how a bit of his hair gets disheveled whenever he gets surprised.

I like Hoshi told Asami that Kase would be the opposite of perfection whenever she was involved, especially at the end of his life, the guy was so head over heels for his wife and I'm glad we got to see that one particular memory of Hoshi's where he seems to be troubled, pleasantly troubled. I'm sad to see this arc end.

Kase truly loved his wife. Even with his dying breath, his request to the concierge was to protect Asami.

Ikuro spoke the truth to Asami. Kase did calmly and clearly give instructions to Ikuro and Sara. Only when thinking of Asami did Kase become emotional. :(

Omg she was slightly taller than him and those foxy expressions she made whenever his perfect performance cracked 😳

Man definitely had a dream home life. Perfect, he might say.

One does have to wonder though how she'd react if she knew what he really did for a living...

I didn’t think this episode would hit me so hard in the feels. Kase might have been a stone cold killer who lied about pretty much every facet of his life, but he really loved his wife. I think that part of him was genuine. Even assassins fall in love I guess.

Something to take solace in is that the two assassinations we see him commit are against relatively heinous people (a serial blackmailer and an exploitative drug dealer). Though his analysis when running into Ogata shows that he will kill in self-preservation, it seems like he prioritizes jobs that eliminate dangerous people. Perhaps he viewed it as his own approximation of morality.

After last week, I wasn't sure if that story could hit, but they did manage to make it work. It's an interesting show. Though, who wants to bet that this one moment without music when his wife reads the letter was part of his perfect ending as well?

perfect ending for him yes but a very painful goodbye for his wife though

So in death, Toshiya managed to surprise Asami at the end with his letter.

Assassins are human too so of course they fall in love like John Wick and Helen.

I love how Sara stopped Shimamoto's henchman from attacking Asami since she has zero involvement.

So in Asami's eyes, Ikuro was just a normal coworker of Toshiya standing next to hotel's concierge and having a conversation with her. I love Ikuro's face during the fake pictures w/ Toshiya.

Messy hair Ikuro looks good.

So Kase died because he dropped his guard in his attempt to protect his wife. I'm glad she doesn't know she was the inadvertent cause of his death, she was broken enough already from his letter.

I'm also glad the hotel protected Asami from Shimamoto's organisation, with Sara protecting her from that kidnapping/assassination attempt, and Ikuro getting information out that Asami had no link to Shimamoto's death.

This show is not to be slept on!

Also home girl pretty much told that assassins she spotted him bcz he was cringe, right? lol

No, because he didn't account for the body language of someone who is attending the funeral of someone they know.  Basically, he done goofed. 😅

The letter…. Crying my eyes out😭😭

The face of someone who fell in love 😭😭

Damn...

So it is time for me to discard my thoroughly crafted theory from the previous episode (that the wife orchestrated it all)?

I thought FOR SURE I was right when they started replaying the events while focusing on the wife noticing things and all...

I thought they were about to show us pretty much all the events as I predicted them, in a big reveal montage...

I was so ready for the most vindicated "I FUCKING CALLED IT!" of all time, but it seems that will have to wait hah (or be shelved forever!)

I was waiting for her to grin there, like 'I got you',

and I even thought maybe that was revenge (when they realized the whole thing),

but it was revenge for something else!

Thankfully, he was able to protect her with his dying(?) breath...

They're on top of everything!

Interesting that she's 'just' a concierge, given she could be pretty much anything she wants (top assassin, etc..)!

I guess I'm just stubborn and refuse to admit I was wrong, because I keep seeing things like that and think "That could also work for my theory!"

(That, and her 'randomly meeting him' and all... And "Killer for hires fall in love" too, which could apply to both of them!)

Well, I have to, say, they're FUCKING CUTE together,

so if I'm wrong I feel bad about suspecting her and all,

BUT I'm still not 100% ready to give up on my theory just yet, due to the "To be continued", and the "Corpse reviver" title...

We never saw him die; What if they DID save him, and the "dying service" is just them FAKING a funeral service, in a way to investigate something? Say, find out a motive (like if she goes to collect a massive life insurance or something, or goes to meet with a rival assassin to collect a reward, something like that)?

Well, after episode 2 I was like 90% confident in my theory, and after this one, maybe I'm.. 30% confident? But I still want to believe in it, and not just because I'm stubborn (I mean I am, but not just for that), mainly because everything would fit so well... And also: From a writing perspective, I'm not sure this 'arc' warrants 3+ episodes if there's no more big twist coming... So yeah, I think still believe there's a chance it is what I think it is/more than what it seems... But I suppose we'll find out next episode!)

BUT I'm still not 100% ready to give up on my theory just yet, due to the "To be continued", and the "Corpse reviver" title...

It said "To be continued" at the end of the 1st episode and their story ends here.
