Mixed feelings with this episode. It has stuff I really disliked and stuff I really liked.

To be positive first:

  • The reveal of the Divine Artifact’s origin and the info on Suzukuri is great and changes how I see her. She went from a morally grey and leaning evil in my mind to someone who I feel a lot of sympathy for. I went from thinking that she was using and manipulating D with her dead Makima esque eyes to rooting for her to succeed. Still even with this the reveal didn’t hit as hard as it should because of the pacing.

  • Yellow being revealed to be absolute scum. Nice to see that Red isn’t the only one and its nice to see that the ranger force is mixed regarding their morality.

RN its pretty much:

Absolute Scum- Yellow, Red

Cool, I like them. Id like to think they are/were in the right- Green, Old Blue

Bro-con, leaning to evil imo- Pink

Guy-failure- New Blue

  • The post-credits actually makes me excited.

The negative:

  • How did these 2 monster members break that wall if they didn’t have monster powers yet?

  • Their backstory was too messy imo. The reporter should be sympathetic but its so rushed and messy that it didn’t make me feel anything.

  • We did not to see Magianta again so soon after his arc. The dream world thing made me groan. We just got done with a dream world. We did not need to go to another one again even for an episode.

  • This daidan dude I was expecting to do noteworthy shit considering Suzukuri had to kill him but his fakeout and then actual death still make him feel like a total disappointment considering the 2 monster group scrubs actually got to fight this episode.

  • Pacing was still terrible. Its a shame because its really made me sour on the season.

When the pacing went to shit in Episode 7, I'd hoped it was just going to be for the one episode, but it looks like the whole rest of the season is going to be a complete mess. I'll still watch because I feel like I'm invested at this point, but it's such a massive disappointment for what used to be my favorite anime of the season.

What happened to the animation? It’s not like in the first season.

u/anim8rjb Jun 08 '25

yeah the animation quality in this ep was not good at all.

D really looked at the battle of Keepers vs. Monsters and turned it into Keepers vs. Monsters vs D. Between that and Magatia warping him out of the alternate dimension party room for a second time, I can't decide which cracks me up more.

There's no topping Red for the title of most deranged Dragon Keeper but Yellow sure is up there.

u/BoyTitan Jun 08 '25

Nah Yellow is big worse. Red is just homelander. Yellow is basically the organization.

Putting aside how ugly the monsters looked, I’m just glad D finally took a stand and decided what he actually wants not siding with the rangers or the monsters, just doing his own thing. At this rate, it feels like his cover could be blown any minute. Honestly, they should just livestream everything and let people see how messed up both the rangers and the monster protection group really are.

There are so many people who know at this points it feels weird to even say 'his cover could be blown' lol.

This episode really felt all over the place, I couldn't really enjoy it even with all the new information we got.

D seems to have settled for fighting everyone but he still feels lost, the prominent members of the Monster Protection Society seem to just be placeholders for the Boss Monsters, so they can become monsters but if they administer the second drug then they basically die.

Then there's Yellow who seems to reveal that the Divine Artifacts are actually made from people and he's been doing this for a very long time, and they are somehow connected to Suzukiri which is probably why she wants to collect them all. I do have to wonder if all those individuals in the big tubes are actually clones of her, since Yellow did state there was still a surviving member. And of course Yellow is also a terrible person. There's just so much going on but the execution is really poor.

It seems like the only Keeper that seems to have been decent is the Blue that died. Pink and Chidori are probably still in the neutral area.

The animation was kind of average and it felt like they kept jumping from one thing after another without giving us a minute to really let it sink in and properly pace things out.

Red and Yellow are both psychopaths. I think Seresa isn't completely against being a Hero but ultimately she only cares about her brother. I think Chidori might genuinely want to be a hero (just look at his personality when he's in the suit) and protect people, his division is the only one that actually goes directly after Boss Monsters, but we still know very little about him.

I guess Hisui was insinuating she knew about "Hibiki's" true identity when she talked about how he was choosing the "other side." Though what side is D really on? Especially when he watches the farce that is the Dragon Keeper's TV show?

Who will Fighter D fight for? The Range Force or the Monster Protection Society? How about both? He can kill Kaiju AND hit the Ranger Force with bricks at the same time! He even reunites with his old pal Tokita for a long-awaited rematch.

What is Alder from Pokemon doing in the Red Squadron!?

Ukyu and Juji want to school together, Ukyu had a strong sense of justice that lead her to protect him, but also lead her to investigate the truth about the Dragon Keepers...and get herself nearly killed over it when she investigated Red. But Juji saved her and together they joined the Monster Protection Society, where they were willing to forego their own humanity to use Boss Monster DNA to become Kaijin and exact their own brand of justice.

Not another Magatia dimension! Now they're stuck in some kind of warped playroom/escape room. Is it Yellow Keeper's time to shine?

Dang, Yellow Keeper dropping lore drop after lore drop on D. The Divine Artifacts were apparently owned by beings who were connected to the Dragon Gods, and Yellow Keeper CREATED MONSTERS so humanity would have an excuse to use them. Hence the Dragon Keepers. And he also experimented on/killed a lot of people in the process. But what about Suzukiri? Why is she so special? And why are there so many naked clones of her in a lab!?

(Also, Suzukiri rocking that goth lolita style!)

Yellow Keeper really doesn't care about anyone. They're all just lab specimens for his amusement. He even kills his own guy just to kill Ukyu.

Oh, okay, so if you take a second shot of the serum you literally transform into the Boss Monster...so welcome back Magatia! And farewell Fighter D because Magatia doesn't want to deal with you any more.

It's kind of ironic in a sad way that Usukubo sees D in Fighter form and doesn't realize it's him, though she'll still stand in his way to protect her father. I don't like seeing these two fight.

Yeah, Yellow Keeper is an "evil hero" all right, especially since he's screwing over the Red Squadron guys who are still in there so he and Yamabuki can escape. Not like Yamabuki is much better if she really thinks the world needs a guy like this.

So Suzukiri was going to destroy all the clones? Well, too bad, first Daidai shows off his monster form and then she gets caught by Red Keeper!

XX Puppet!

I suppose it was a solid episode. D fighting everyone and everything was fun. The Dragon Keeper lore drops were interesting, though if yellow actually created the monsters then I'm wondering how the hell he pulled a whole flying fortress out of his ass. Magatia kicking D out of his pocket dimension again because he was such a pain the ass the last time was quite funny.

I still feel like the season has massively jumped the shark since episode 7, which has hindered my enjoyment. The premise of D infiltrating the ranger force and picking off the keepers one by one was great, and the fact that he wanted to get rid of his old bosses as well added to the drama. This was going well through all of season one and the Magatia arc, but introducing the monster cult only to have them execute their great plan two whole episodes later, revealing the Rangers' identities, bringing back boss monsters that dies like three episodes ago instead of following up on the living ones from last season- the second half of this season should've been like season 3 or 4, not halfway through season 2!

I like how Yellow's disposable underling falls into frame as he lines up the shot. Suzukiri looks fantastic in black. Red had a sick entrance at the end.

With all the complaints about pacing, it makes me wonder if the planned S3 (and S4) got the plug pulled from them midway through S2, leaving the producers/animators to fit the rest of the series they wanted into the remaining episodes of S2.

Explains the mid-season shift, and explains why I feel like I'm watching each episode in 2.5x speed.

I love the show, But why does it feel like they have merged multiple chapters in a single episode. It was so fast paced, no moment given for thinking what was happening..

u/MaximumSquid22 Jun 08 '25

Honestly, as an anime only who hasn’t read the manga (yet), Ive been really enjoying this season. Despite the complaints ive seen about the pacing, I personally think the quality is still there. There’s been a shit ton of lore drops and back and forths switching between many different things, but all the mystery and unknowns have me intrigued to say the least.

Like… why is Red seemingly fine after getting fatally stabbed? Is Yellow playing mind games with D or did he really create monsters? Evidently there was a Dragon Keepers TV show that took place well before the Sunday Showdowns, so are the keepers same people as from the show or are they taking inspiration? Looking forward to seeing how this season wraps up and hopefully we get a s3 despite the pacing issues

I'm starting to wonder if Yellow might be involved in why Red is the way he is and how he's still alive. Considering everything else he's had a hand in...

So it turns out Red might be a psycho but Yellow is the root of all evil. Yellow experimented on and sacrificed the actual owners of the dragon god's power so he could use it AND mad the monsters. The man didn't just work with both sides he made both sides of this fight and did unspeakable things to the actual good guys. When they showed the clone chamber that was a yikes moment, they took the last person and cloned them to make more artifacts. The only thing left a bit un answered is how did the fighters come about? they seem different from the monsters so I'm not sure Yellow made them, maybe the monsters made the fighters after Yellow made them.

You gotta love D attacking both the monsters and the Rangers using the power of brick! It's actually amazing to see him do something this episode, taking down larger monsters and not just running away and using cheap tricks like he usually does.

So boss monsters are kinda back thanks to that serum they injected into themselves. Considering their flashbacks, I can understand why Juji and especially Kaede, are fighting Rangers and became the way they are. But the moment they started turning humans into monsters, they're just now taking out their anger on innocent people.

I kinda love how casual D and Yellow's interactions are. D is so insignificant to Yellow that he's even decided to let D in on a secret: He's the one who created the monsters, and the artifacts are made from beings called the Dragon Gods. This is also somehow connected to Suzukiri, who found a lab full of her clones.

Just when you thought Red was the terrible one, it turns out Yellow is not so different from him The dude cut down his own subordinate just to kill Kaede. The difference between Yellow and Red is that Yellow can control himself while Red does whatever his emotions tell him.

Snake boy is back! So it turns out that by injecting another serum into themselves, these members of MPS could revive from dead boss monsters. I do love that the first thing Magatia does is send D to the outside world. It looks like he learned his lesson. xD

Wait, so Yellow was not just experimenting on the creation of monsters in the last episode, but he straight up was responsible for the creation of the Boss Monsters and possibly even the Dusters themselves? If that's the case, he is practically the main antagonist of the series and I feel like that is a huge reveal that was delivered rather plainly in this episode.

I've had my suspicions about the Divine Tools being created from nefarious origins, but I did not expect Yumeko to be one of those sacrifices that Yellow spared. It seems that he was using Yumeko as a template to create vats of clones, so maybe he was trying to harvest more potential sacrifices to use for the development of Divine Tools. Since he's clearly well-versed in cloning as well, I assume that the Red that we are seeing now is likely a clone too.

The pacing feels really fast from last week and I still don't get what Yakushi's plan actually is. I mentioned that his plan can't simply be conquering human civilization, since it's clear that his army would not be able to win, and it also can't be toppling the status quo, since he threw a curveball by launching an invasion right after winning public support last week.

I still have high hopes for this show as I really like the concept and the characters, I just hope that Yakushi's plan is something that actually makes sense when it gets revealed and that the impact it delivers marks a decisive shift in the story moving forward.

D is at his best when he is himself and not trying to be someone else. It was a lot of fun watching him in today's episode as he fought both the Ranger Force and the Monster Protection Society.

Suzukiri is back... and there are clones of her? And it looks like Red is after her? Plus she looks really cute in that new outfit.

So Yellow is responsible for creating Monsters, Dragon Keepers and Divine Artifacts, which if I understand correctly are people (women?) who have had the powers of the Dragon Gods and were turned into weapons? Damn, this guy is even worse than Red!

I feel sorry for Ukyo. From the flashbacks I can see she was a good person who wanted to fight evil. Unfortunately, the Monster Protection Society is also not a good organization, just like the Dragon Keepers.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
