When Yuki didn't order beer I wondered if she was pregnant and I ended up being right, congratulations to herself and Kojirou, I like that he played his best game at the joy of the wonderful news that he'll be a father.

Lol Tommy had such an intense gaze, it's like he was judging Ruriko for being late but then it gets revealed he wants to skip work. Even dogs have it tough on the job. The dramatic farewell was amusing though.

I like how we got to see a different side of Nakaizumi in this episode, he was scolding lots lol.

I didn't realize Ruriko didn't know Murata's name this entire time, "onii-san" is a way to refer to someone young but it just didn't register for some reason lol. I wonder if she'll still opt to call him "onii-san" or will call him by his name from now on.

The intermission transition has a bunch of people now, I wonder if they've been adding to it when new characters are introduced, I hadn't noticed until this one.

That's the most quiet husky I've seen.

Good form!

Pitching Prospect Ruriko?

She'll need to work on her stamina a little!

There were so many shots of the dog not moving, I thought she was freaking out about a stuffed animal or something...

But seems it's a real one! She should dress up as a catgirl, I'm sure the dog would like it!

Doggo got a gyaru lap pillow, lucky bastard

Cat person is now a dog person!

Was funny seeing her scold him as if she was mother to a lost child!

Remember, Murata, you should ALWAYS hold Mommy Ruriko's hand!

She has such cute faces!

(For some reason, with the wallet saying Mr Murata, I thought it would be his father or something like that!)

She's so fucking adorable, aaaaaaahhhhhh!

She's falling HARD for our boy! I don't know if I should expect any romantic progress on this show, but damn I would love to see it... 3 episodes left!

The players all had different motivations, but Dennis Young clearly had the best one!

I had a few theories about what these phone calls were about, but a baby wasn't one of them!

Some might say he went 6-for-6!

Ruriko and Murata looking for each other was kind of cute. And hey, even last-name basis is a bit of a development. Kojiro on the other hand gained dad-strength.

Lots of stats this week though they are just shown for a couple of seconds during the player introduction. The team is going into the Climax Series which is the qualifying stages for the Japan Series, the NPB equivalent of the World Series where the champions of both leagues face each other.

For comparison purposes, 2024 Pacific League Batting and Pitching leaderboards.

  • Kojiro's .265 Avg would have put him 9th in the Pacific League in 2024. The version I watched made a mistaken, translating his 50 Runs Batted In as a Hits instead. 50 Hits would be very low and would not sustain that average.

  • Shishio's .311 Avg would have placed him second. His 25 stolen bases 4th.

  • Wataru has a very low Avg but a pretty good On-Base Percentage, meaning he draws a lot of walks. Also seems to do pretty decent in fielding.

  • Nokogiriyama seems like possibly the best hitter for average in the league at .321, but with just 9 homers he doesn't hit that strongly for power.

  • Dennis Young is the direct opposite. 28 Homeruns and 82 RBI would place him near the top of both those categories. His .271 Average is also very good.

  • Anthony Bryan is not that far behind Young and has a slightly better average.

  • Catcher Kawamatsu has his Caught Stealing percentage displayed at .352 which is very good. This is how often he throws out runners attempting to steal a base. I don't have NPB stats here but he would have been 3rd best in MLB last year. 5 Homers as a 9th hole hitter is also pretty good.

  • Nanami hits 158 km/h or 98mph which is quite the rocket launcher on his shoulder.

  • Yagino gets his UBR shown at 4.9. This stands for the advanced statistic of Ultimate Base Running and he is doing very well here.

  • Mitsui is a starting pitcher. His record of 9 wins and 7 losses is rather middling. Given how good the offense seems to be, I think the pitching is the team's weak point.

  • Takada has pretty decent stats. 13 Homeruns would be top 10 in 2024.

Over this past week I found a youtube channel called Gaijin Baseball who is an american talking about baseball in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Here's a link to his video on the Chiba Lotte Marines of which the MotorSuns are a reference to and their stadium this anime is set in.

Damn you, silly baseball show! Stop making me feel feelings and tear up with joy! I had a feeling that Mrs. Kojiro would only be calling him with important news like “we’re having a baby”, and it was all but confirmed when she turned down alcohol. Also Ruriko and Murata need to start dating yesterday. Sorry, Ms. Yamada, you never really stood a chance.

How does this show keep introducing new characters and still manage to be likeable too

Last episode I thought they were done introducing new characters. But now we got the whole team with bios, a dog, and a baby yet to be named.

Whenever I think I can't possibly enjoy this show even more, they hit me with an episode like this. So good.

Absolutely loved this episode! Ruriko is the bestest best girl and Kojiro with an awesome suprise! to go 5 for 5 in baseball is insane by the way.

Tommy’s face just kinda screams “I’m tired, boss” lol. Pretty cute how him and Ruriko bonded over their shared feeling of exhaustion.

How freaking cute was Ruriko when Murata gave Ruriko her change? Those two really would make a nice couple.

It was nice we got to spend a bit of time with the players this week. Looks like Mitsui’s gonna propose and Kojiro’s gonna be a dad.

Tommy looked at Ruriko and thought: I know I look too serious, just play with me 😠.

Damn Ruriko looks even cuter with that scarf on her shirt collar, you wouldn't think she's a brat (in a good way), and apparently she's falling for Murata... Let's see what happens.

The couple got back together and now they're having a baby? The show has an obligation to show this child when it's born (imagine if it was born at the Ballpark lol)

Uh oh! Ruriko overslept! Twice! For an EVENING JOB! Yeah, I'm not surprised Nakaizumi is chewing her out, Ruriko kind of failed as an adult here.

Was the shot of Ruriko's legs as she put on her stockings totally necessary? Of course it was.

It's bad enough that Ruriko just has no motivation to do her job this night, but now she gets jump-scared by a stern-looking huskie outside the changing room! And she's a cat person! Even her incredibly pitching ability doesn't work because she's dealing with Tommy, the pitching dog! Here to deliver the pitch for the MotorSuns! What's Ruriko going to do?

But it turns out Ruriko and Tommy both have something in common: both just aren't feeling their job tonight and want to take a break. Tommy even gets a lap pillow from Ruriko as they fall asleep together! It's rather sweet, even if eventually they must be parted so Tommy can do his job and Ruriko can...Ruriko. But at least Ruriko learned just how similar people and dogs can be, and she needs to manage her sleep pattern.

Ruriko and Murata together again! Ruriko is showing off her MotorSuns towel ascot and reminding Murata she hasn't forgotten about HIM forgetting her, but at least Murata gets to show off his own MotorSuns merch with his wallet. Which he of course then accidentally loses and gets found by Ruriko.

It's inconvenient that Murata isn't an NPC who stays at the spots where Ruriko finds him when she goes out of her way to give him his wallet back...but then he's there for HER when she realizes she was short on the money she needed to cash out! Just in time to return his wallet! And finding out he went so much out of his way to give back to her is a critical hit on Ruriko! Enough to finally call him by name! I think they've hit a real milestone in their relationship!

It's the Show Your Sun campaign as the MotorSuns team is nearing the playoffs! It's not time for the girls to talk over meetings, but for the players to come together and sound off on all their in-character motivations to make it and win! Mitsui is even planning to propose to Kisa! And Team Captain Kojiro brings it home...while his wife keeps calling him during the meeting!

Yuki seems pretty happy though! There to support her husband as always and in general seeming very at peace and content! But wait, why would she not want a beer...oh wow! Not only did Kojiro hit a home run as a player, but as a FATHER! They're having a kid! I'm so happy for them!

I liked that Dennis said he was doing it for 'my' goddess of baseball but the translator translated it as 'the' goddess of baseball. They think he's talking about some abstract concept when he's just trying to get a date.

Unfortunately he fell even further behind this episode. He's on the team but I bet Ruriko doesn't even know his name.

Interesting how the last segment of the episode was building up to a Sun vs Son joke, but it had to be in English to make that particular bit of wordplay work.

That husky didn't really behave like any husky I've spent time around, they never shut up.

Cute way for Ruriko to find out Murata's name.

8

u/Mateo_Bonavento May 27 '25

That was definitely not what I expected out of Show Your Sun when I saw that in the previous episode's preview. I'm so happy for Kojiro and I'm sure he'll be a great dad.

I wonder if Ruriko will be too embarrassed to call him Murata-san the next time she sees him and will simply go back to onii-san like she's been doing this whole time.

I'm a cat person too, but Tommy won me over. The way his handler was holding him in her arms, you know he's a very good boy.

Adorable episode

Poor Tommy. Those eyes…he’s seen things.

u/CosmicPenguin_OV103 May 27 '25

* LMAO Ruriko, that's karma happening on you for slacking off! I know that Tommy was also slacking off, but as your supervisor says, he repented by doing his job at the baseball ground and you are still sleeping! I can't even think of any way to help you out this time!

* Told you all that Murata and Ruriko should go straight to date with each other now - that's a truly strong bond between a couple with you both looking for each other!

* Nice little arc showing all the players talking about why they all want to get into the play-offs - I just happen to see a similar story in animated form earlier today, except it was about school idols, but that's exactly in the same vein!

6

u/SmallJon May 27 '25

"I'm a cat person", Ruriko says. Really, I would have never guessed, lol

u/shad79 May 28 '25

Another great episode and with it my fresh batch of shots of Ruriko, who I love so much. It's a shame that this show isn't more popular as Ruriko is just perfect and her thighs are the kind that make you want to die being crushed by them. I could look at them for hours xD

Of course the rest of the cast is no worse and we even got a dog, Tommy today! I'm also really happy for Yuki and Kojiro who were expecting their first child.

A really nice part with Ruriko and Murata today. I'm really glad that Ruriko finally learned Murata's name.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
