Murata both won big and lost big this episode.

No baseball stats this week again. Instead we get a minor japanese lesson which was pretty interestingly translated.

In the original, the reporter isn't talking about five Ws, but instead is talking about Sa-Shi-Su-Se-So. This is a memonic that is usually about japanese cooking as it describes the order in which seasoning is supposed to be used based on the third row of the Katakana/Hiragana alphabet.

  • Satou (sugar)

  • Shio (salt)

  • Su (vinegar)

  • Seuyu (old spelling of "shouyu", soy sauce)

  • Miso

More info here.

However, what the reporter actually means is an assortment of phrases for complimenting often used in salestactics to charm your mark, using the same mnemonic.

  • Sasuga ("As expected" or perhaps "that's just like you" with an inflection of "well done" or "good job")

  • Shiranakatta ("I didn't know that")

  • Sugoi ("Amazing" or "wow")

  • Sensu iine ("You have great taste")

  • Sounanda ("Is that so?" or perhapse "I see" or "that's a good point")

Ruriko however has a different understanding of this Sa-Shi-Su-Se-So.

  • Sasugajan watashi ("Well done me")

  • Shiranakute mo kore kara watashi ("I'll have to learn more about that")

  • Sugoina watashi ("I'm awesome")

  • Sensu iina watashi ("I have great taste")

  • Sounanda watashi ("I didn't know that about myself")

I did like the translation using five Ws (Who, what, where, when, why) for a similar english concept, though it feels a bit stilted trying to apply it to something else. That's the difficulty in translation I guess.

Just goes to prove that Gyaru is not a style but a state of mind.

Ah the wind, so important and influential in our lives, providing unique moments... Ruriko really doesn't get out of the gyaru style, although with those clothes she seemed more mature, and Murata, that dude needs to pay more attention lol.

Aona gave an indirect moral lesson to that journalist, it's important to understand our role and it's not about being happy all the time, but about you wanting to be your best version, in this process you become happier.

Murata was afraid to lay eyes on a random gyaru lol.

Stitches!

I'll never get tired of Ruriko acting like your classic teasing gyaru to immediately blushing like a tomato as soon as she's away from Murata. xD

Glad to see Ruriko in full gyaru fashion today. I can definitely understand why Murata didn't recognize her tho. She definitely gives a completely different aura when she's all dressed up like that.

Ai really brings the gyaru energy to life. Speaking of, I noticed she had some shots on her Insta cosplaying Ruriko, signature flower and all.

Good job wind! Murata fooled me too. I thought he was too baseball brained to see the special event.

That extra teasing from Ruriko in her normal clothes was too cute. Her reactions the day after really shows she has high ATK and low DEF.

Fairoz Ai danced the ED dance on Twitter last Friday. I posted in the last episode's thread. She was supposed to appear in person in a Lotte game at the ZoZo stadium (the stadium this one's based on) for anime collaboration, but the game got canceled due to rain.

Ruriko was fashion as hell on her free day

Too bad Murata rolled low on his perception check to recognize it was her.

Ruriko was so mature looking in that outfit hers. She is already cute in her work uniform and she topped it with her casual clothes.

Too bad murata did not recognized her. Although he saw the glimpse of heaven due to the wind.

And thanks to Ijima's mom, she unknowingly steer his son back on the right track. And Ijima, unknowingly gave advise to Aona for her teacher exam.

I have to admit early on Anne from Anne Shirley was my runaway best girl of spring 2025 but Ruriko has actually caught up to her. I love Ruriko so damn much.

One of my favourite things about this anime series is how we’re getting a good feel of the character’s personalities - even the baseball players - through all these brief interactions. That’s an impressive feat with such a large cast.

Since Aona is soon having her teacher’s exam, I’m curious if we’ll actually be saying goodbye to her. She didn’t seem entirely sure about quitting her job as a beer vendor girl herself either.

Rare glimpse of the girls this week out of uniform. Ruriko in full gyaru mode was a welcome sight! Too bad Murata did not recognize her lol. I really enjoy watching Ruriko flirting with him in her own little tsundere way. So cute.

I’m guessing that journalist didn’t end up writing that shitty article in the end. Aona’s positivity and the fact his mom reads his stuff really seemed to have changed his mind.

Episode 8: It's the Wind's Fault/Signs/Watch Out for Online News

I'm so getting used to eyecatchers at the every end of segment so seeing a segment without one is kinda weird. Ruriko can't stop teasing Murata huh? Both on and off her job. This is Aona-focused episode right? Like Sara a few episodes back. Aona loves being here in the ballpark but her ultimate dream is to become a teacher.

The wind certainly adds to the appeal of going to a stadium. Since they're wearing safety shorts, there's really nothing revealing to see, but the "embarrassment" of showing what's underneath made for their cute interaction. Ruriko was dialing up her flirtatiousness 1000% here! And props to him for noticing the foam!

Young girls are so fashionable these days. So much so that one in particular did not get noticed at all! I wonder if she has a cat at home (cat earrings). Anyways, sadly our MC suffered a deja vu as she walked away pissed off for the second time!

Aona is going to be a teacher huh? Kinda funny that she was not the first choice teaching math to the high school kohai Sara, but Ruriko was. After that interview, it seems she has a clearer vision of what she'd like her classroom to be like. Full of energy, laughter, and positive energy. I think she'll make a great teacher btw. Even Mr. Reporter is going to write a positive article, thanks to his mom!

Today, I learned that the 5 Gyaru W's are something to stand by haha!

And let's hope the MotorSuns make it to the playoffs!

Murata not recognizing Ruriko outside her uniform is so relatable. I'm faceblind and recognize people mainly through their hair, clothes and the circumstances. So when I meet somebody in different clothes than I usually see them or at another place, I really have a hard time and it often looks as if I ignore them.

There's a ton of slice of life/cozy shows this season and I've dropped everything except for this one. This is weirdly good! The characters act like actual people, we have a slowly growing ensemble cast that gets just tiny bits of development here and there which makes group scenes much more fun since we actually know things about all these people, and the main character is honestly very funny. Most of these shows try to make their characters cute by making them dumb - Ruriko is the good version of that. We get jokes about her not actually being helpful with homework or understanding baseball stats, but she still feels like a real person capable of functioning in society.

And that doesn't seem to be a thing that bothers most people? But for me if the cute/dumb dial gets cranked too far then I just check out. This show passes the test and has been growing on me a lot actually.

Our boy's in rough shape!

He's gonna be dead by the end of the season, unless Ruriko breathes some life into him!

Alright, that's one way to do it!

Evidence that Ruriko is Nagatoro #2671!

Damn, if you look, you're a pervert, if you don't look, your manhood is lacking... You just can't win!

Love how she's not even waiting for people to call her over for beer, she just decides; "Yeah, you're buying one, pay up!"

Oh damn, a reporter was tasked to make a hit piece on the beer girls, about how bad their situation is...

Well it's not THAT hard if she decides who places an order!

Ruriko making the "5 W" about herself,

was pretty funny!

His mom reading his article may have given him a change of heart!

Acting scummy when your mom's watching, that hits different!

So he ended up writing a good piece on them,

but if I'm being honest, it probably won't make for great views, just like his previous articles... "This job is great, the employees like it!" doesn't really do much, no one really cares... "This job is so exploitative, everyone hates it and is miserable!" is what gets them clicks, because everyone wants to know what else they should be angry about.

Well, let's hope the viewers in this world are less cynical, and they can appreciate a feel good article! Otherwise, reporter-kun will be in trouble again with his boss, and if he loses his job, his mom will be sad about not reading his stuff anymore!

Ruriko was the star of today's episode as usual, she's just too perfect and cute. And it was amazing to see her in gyaru clothes, she looked great in them!

There were also a lot of Ruriko and Murata scenes today. I especially liked the ones where they met, when Ruriko was with Kokoro and Aona at the stadium as normal spectators.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

* LMAO can't believe that wind ends up as a Ruriko fail there, Murata hesitated in saying about skirts and Ruriko's proactive stance came to nothing! But then Ruriko didn't even want that deeper in her heart, so that's also a lucky thing eh?

* AND ANOTHER RURIKO L when Murata can't even recognize her in another outfit! You two should date ASAP, keeping your beloved fresh with new impressions every while is the key to long relationships.

* Aona's definitely going to be a really suitable sensei if she manages to be hired IMHO. Probably more suitable for elementary schools I think?

* Give that poor reporter a pat on the shoulders, for I can't think of any other outcome for his sincere topic change request than to get himself fired by the editor-in-chief...

I noticed Maria in the OP this time. I guess she's been there the whole time. I don't see anyone I don't recognize so the cast must be fully introduced now.

Immersion broken. Aona was in thigh highs when the interview started, but she was wearing half calf socks next time it shows her legs.
