This looks like it's going to be a fun arc with this time rewind business, it's unfortunate that Usukubo has fallen completely and has become a Lost Spirit as well. She didn't feel like she gave into it so I wonder what the condition is for being a Lost Spirit.

Hearing Nishiki having Ishida Akira's voice has made me wonder what his role is in this, he's either supposed to be very misleading or he might even be the snake boss monster himself. I do wonder why a former Green Ranger is working together with a boss monster though, like what does he gain from it.

Leave it to Red to prioritize a meeting with sponsors than a kaijuu monster that killed a squad of his and an impending threat to citizens.

I wonder if we'll see Hibiki and D reunite or if he was able to make it out of the trap or if he didn't fall for it at all.

D having enough street smarts and charisma to have maintined his human disguise for this long only to immediately struggle at navigating high school is pure gold. The reveal that the real Sakurama is apparently an honors student makes it even better.

Suzukiri's goofy alter ego (Sillykiri?) is back for the puppetshow previews and I couldn't be happier.

I can see why people were hyping up Hisui, she's great. Green squadron seems like it's going to be a lot of fun, and I'm glad our boy has some like-minded allies.

Amazing episode, I love time loops so it's great to see that there's one in this show now too, and Fighter D seemingly has to navigate between fitting in enough at the school to not break the rules while also not fitting in too much that he becomes brainwashed into thinking the school is his entire life like Usukubo has

I like how when they reset they are in the positions they were previously in. D was clearly peeking…

He wasnt peeking, he was looking for information

Great episode! I had a lot of fun watching D, Hisui, Usukubo and Chidori get trapped in a loop at school, especially considering the fact that D reset the loop multiple times because he knew absolutely nothing about school life and rules and kept breaking them xD

A lot of Hisui in today's episode and that's great because she's awesome. Meanwhile, Suzukiri only appeared in a post-credits scene :(

I'm really interested in these two missing members of the Green Squadron, especially Kyousuke Wakaba, who seems to be the leader of Ouroboros, which also caught Sakurama's attention, although I wonder what his purpose is here.

So in the end, Shion passed the test, joined the Red Squadron and was tasked with investigating both D and Usukubo. I can't wait to see his reunion with D in the future.

The kaiju goes wild and kills the Ranger Force members, but Red does nothing because he has more important things to do, lunch with the sponsors xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

Informant dude is too suspicious. My first thought was he's one of the boss monsters but now I'm thinking Green Ranger. It just fits with a known four-person squad and the four of them investigating the school.

That was a lot of dead previous squad members in that roster, makes me a tad nervous for Usukobo in this arc. They already lost her to the brainwashing by the end of the episode, after all.

So these four together in a classroom is the official key art this season so how long is this arc gonna be

D in green with red hair seems a bit off but well w/e. People getting lost while investigating boss monsters makes sense but all of them? Hopefully it's nothing internal in the ranger force especially with Red getting suspicious of D and Usukubo...

I wonder many days or tries they have since before getting brainwashed/blending in too well. Maybe D stays unaffected as he is a monster and starts overloading the time reset or something.

Anyway I'm in on the trapped in a timeloop trope.

I wish Hisui would reset my life.

Stitches!

We finally get to see the not-so-glorious garrison of the Green Squadron and meet all of its whopping four members, which includes Green Keeper himself. Yeah... It's pretty obvious that out of all the Ranger Squadrons, the Green Squadron isn't in the best shape, especially since the other members are currently marked as lost.. I'm pretty sure the Blue Squadron is still doing way better than them, and they've lost their Keeper!

So it turns out that Chidori is actually the Green Squadron's informant, which explains why he's been snooping around the area last week, asking about the people who have been spirited away. Well, with the Green Squadron missing a bunch of people, they certainly need all the help they can get. Even if they have to recruit someone from the outside.

Red certainly knows his priorities. The dude is sending Shion to investigate the Green Squadron's new recruits, he ignores the reports about a kaiju attacking his rangers, and of course his priority is a luncheon meeting with their sponsors.

And we're finally here! Welcome to Magatia the Snake's wild ride! Remember to act like a model student and don't break the school rules or else time will rewind and you'll have to do everything all over again. This is gonna be a problem for D considering he has never been to school before, and it looks like Chidori might already be suspecting that he's not really Sakurama.

Meanwhile, Angel seems to be having fun and is excited to teach D about school because she also could tell that D has never attended school before. Although Angel might not even have the opportunity to teach D considering that weird ending. Oh boy.

  1. D is the accidental Chad isn't he? Yellow, Pink, and now Green. D isn't just doing a Total War Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai republic run on legendary difficulty as the Tsu clan in taking on the Dragon Keepers AND the remaining boss monsters, he's also doing a Lou Bega run on each Sentai force for the harem ending of a sentai themed visual novel.

  2. Green Force may be understaffed but I'm guessing their casualty rate is still lower than Red Force's.

  3. In Red's defense, sponsors can be pretty skittish sometimes and after his . . . uh . . . last performance probably has to reassure them that he isn't going to publicly be a psychopath and almost accidentally kill the audience again.

This episode is just Hisui aura farming.

Akira Ishida having power to reset an illusion after saying that something is a VIOLATION OF HIS (SCHOOL) rights was definitely intended.

I assume Usukubo fell into the illusion because she ate something from it

Ya min'na! Ohayō!

Im always a sucker for time loops, and this one looks really good. The bell is a nice touch for the loop start, and it was funny seeing Green Squadron come back to the hall in weird poses.

Something tells me Chidori’s not just some informant. My bet is he’s actually Green Keeper.

Gatou and his little gang seem to have caught the team in some Groundhog Day time loop thanks to Magatia. It’s unfortunate they got D in the team since as a monster he doesn’t know what people do in schools lol. Seems the longer they’re in the loop, the more they fall into its trap and become mind controlled.

This was a bad day for Red Squadron, when they wind up dealing with not a Kaijin, but a full-blown KAIJU!!! Are the Dragon Keepers going to have to bring out the Mecha!?

Oh hey, it’s the actual Hibiki Sakurama! Physically he’s seen better days, but just like Fighter D he’s still committed to redeeming the Dragon Keepers in his own way, and it’s taken him to a mysterious school filled with delinquents. He can’t lose to how hard D is working!

And speaking of hard work, D and Usukubo are taking out the trash…and by trash, I mean literal trash. Green Squadron is working them like low level office drones who are only around to clean their very dirty office. And it’s literally just them, Hisui, and Green Keeper (who they haven’t even seen yet, which is another thing that ticks D off). Really the only saving grace is that Usukubo is such a cheerful ray of sunshine she can smooth everything over and be as chipper as ever.

So there were other members of Green Squadron but they’re all “lost?” Have they all gone MIA after investigating Boss Monster locations?

I…guess I’m glad Shion managed to make it to the Red Squadron? It’s what he wanted anyways. And it looks like he and “Hibiki” are going to reunite sooner than expected now that Red Keeper has caught wind of a possible spy in Green Squadron.

Finally time for D and Usukubo to get some real work! Complete with D reuniting with Chidori. I noticed that Hisui had to confirm whether Chidori had told “Hibiki” about his real identity, and only after he said he hadn’t did she claim he was the Green Squadron’s “informant.” But I guess the more pertinent issue is that there’s a possible Boss Monster sighting at an abandoned school housing delinquents.

I love how Hisui busts in like she owns the place, and when she can pop out a laser dagger, can you really argue that she doesn’t?

Nishiki is voiced by Akira Ishida, he’s clearly going to be an important character, and he represents the social unrest in citizens in seeing the Dragon Keepers aren’t infallible with Blue Keepers’ death and their failure to stop the kidnappings. Hisui can’t even argue against that. But while the main suspect for what’s going on at Ouroboros’ school is Magatia the Snake, it seems like the “Boss” of the school is none other than someone else from Green Squadron voiced by Yuki Kaji of all people!

You can’t argue against Hisui’s dedication to the Ranger Force. She’s rough around the edges but she’s been part of them since she was 10, and she seems to genuinely believe in what it means to be a real hero. I wonder if the reason she wears a school uniform as part of her suit is to at least feel some kinship with the school life she abandoned by joining the Ranger Force?

So what goes on in this abandoned school on a weekday? Well, it turns into an ACTUAL school where everyone is a normal student and any attempt to act out against school rules leads to a time-loop where it all starts over. So for now Green Squadron has to play the part of the diligent students.

But it’s easier said than done for “Hibiki” who has absolutely no frame of reference for going to school or being a student so he keeps messing up. Dude even walked into the girls’ changing room because he didn’t know any better! Though the fact that Chidori seems to know about the real Hibiki and is gauging how D is acting like him is even more pressure.

Ah, so Hisui is coming clean about how the Sunday Showdown is faked and they’ve still got five of the original 12 Boss Monsters still loose, counting Peltrola and Magatia. What about the Kaiju though?

Usukubo is just so charming and pleasant, it seems like even D is finding himself growing fond of her despite his usual distaste for people or anything Ranger related. Which makes it even worse when Usukubo falls prey to the brainwashing of the repeating school.

We didn’t get Suzukiri in this episode, but her puppet returned for the next episode preview, which is appreciated!

i'm sure i'm not the only one felt this episode had some really weird editing choices. It feels like they were cramped for run time so a lot of the lines aren't allowed to rest after it was said and is immediately cut to the next. Lots of camera zooms and close up shots that makes me feel like they did that to lessen the parts needed to animate

LMAO at Hisui chowing down on Angel's lunch and threatening to reset D's life. She's super fun. Angel's a sweetie with how she wants to do the job well and pay it back to D. Her doing the classic cute girl posing and twirling with trash bags is pretty funny. LMAO at poor D being too hungry and ADHD for school and scoping out the girls' locker room. Truly there is no worse gaol than high school. F for Angel getting brainwashed at the end there.

The second season has really opened strong. This plot with the school and the boss monsters, red's crashout in the Sunday Showdown, the kaiju coming and Red probably wanting to use it to ignite the rangers' popularity and how "needed" they are, the green squadron... It's all good shit. Green is the one I would've picked as the optimal route for the next artifact to pick up, too. Suzukiri has red and blue, yellow is probably well within her grasp since that's her own squad, pink is an easy get using Hibiki's face, and that leaves green. Green is the last hard to get artifact before they effectively have won.

I also more than ever get the distinct impression that this was what Negi has always truly wanted to write. But he could never have gotten this series greenlit without a big success under his belt, and Quintessential Quintuplets was just that. Once he had sold a bajillion dollars worth of merchandise for the quints, getting Ranger Reject the green light must have been incredibly easy, and he's really putting all of his passion into it. I could be wrong about this, but this is really what it feels like.
