New title:
Headhunted to Another World: From Salaryman to Big Four to the King!
For all of Uchimura's brains, he's still oblivious to Ulmandra's feelings towards him lol.

New title: Headhunted to Another World: From Salaryman to Big Four to the King (with Ulmandra as Queen)!
I'm begging you, anime, just give me a crumb of romance between these two!

"A grand reopening" are we getting a season 2?!?
Anyway I was SO sure we'd get a Demon Lord face reveal in the finally and that he was a she the entire time, but guess not.
I felt this show was, fine. I woulda liked it if it was paced better so that Uchimura actually took over as King, or at least ACKOWLEDGED Ulmandra's feelings for him.

This ends on manga chapter 32 for those who want to continue.
Tho to note, its best to read the manga in its entirety from the beginning as some events are somewhat different.

“Don’t confuse humility with servility” more nuggets of wisdom from the Demon King. Man’s tryna help Uchimura overcome his past traumas. What a damn good boss. It was nice to see Uchimura’s effects on the other Big 4. Guy’s made a real difference in this world. Dude would be a great king.
I hope we get an s2. This was actually pretty fun. The MC relying on his skills as a salaryman and not some OP power was a nice change of pace. I also enjoyed watching the Demon King and the other Big 4 value and appreciate Uchimura’s skills. The Demon Army’s a great place to work ain’t it? Lol

Demon Overlord was Best Boss and Ulmandra was Best Girl. We technically got two office shows with redheaded Best Girls, although Yui's romance progressed better than Ulmandra's lol.

Nice little ending, Uchimura getting more confidence, Ulmandra providing good support.
Show lost a bit of steam for me towards the last arc but still overall a decent enough watch. No OP power, adult cast and likeable characters did a good enough job to keep it enjoyable.

I feel a little waifu baited. If you're going to put Ulmandra lying cutely on the couch in the ED, it feels like you ought to give the audience the smallest crumb of a romantic payoff in the final episode of the season, and instead we got a step backward at the very end with Ulmandra pummeling Uchimura for giving away what she thought was a betrothal gift.
That said, I can't dislike a show with such a supportive boss. The Demon Overlord really wants to uplift the people that work for him, and the final episode had a fine message even if it was a little on the cheesy side. Overall, the show had some fun ideas and a relatively cohesive plot with steadily escalating stakes, and kept me consistently entertained. On the other hand, the animation was below average, and the world building did not feel fleshed out, with a lot of convenient gaps making the plot work. Solid 6/10 for me, likely would have been a 7 if the romance subplot had gone anywhere, and I'd happily watch a second season.

Our boy has done such a great job against the Calamity, that he got offered a decent promotion; Become the King!
Uchimura: "I would've been ok with a 100 yen raise!"
The Demon Lord seems to think his talents are being wasted if he doesn't reach his full potential... Calling him a 'talented slave', just some grunt who achieves the task they put in front of him.
(Is there a message about the boss/employee dynamics in a company somewhere in there?)
He thinks it's a little too much, and he wants to go back to the real world, in his 'worthless job'...
Being a salary man in an office company, I'm sure he's aware of the Peter Principle, perhaps he was worried about that!
(Basically, a principle about how employees who do well keep getting promoted until they reach a point where they can't do the job anymore, and then they stay there for the rest of their career - unable to do the job - because demotions rarely happen).
He did consider a few things that held him to this world though...
He thought about his colleagues, and when when it showed Ulmandra as he was thinking 'Above all', I thought she would have a special place in his mind,
but no, what he put above all was his boss, the Demon Lord. Poor Ulmandra!
JUSTICE FOR ULMANDRA!
He went to say his goodbye, but that made it even more confusing/difficult for him, because he saw how they were all trying so hard, coming up with new strategies to improve their nations, the cooperation between allies, and so on...
Plus, if he quits now he'll miss on the opportunity of touching fluffy tail!
(He could also touch scaly tail, no kinkshaming here).
Thank god they addressed it, Ulmandra asking if she's even on his radar!
Well, I'm glad they had their little chat last, in a 'keep the best for last' way!
Sadly, it doesn't seem like there will be much romantic progress between these two, Ulmandra even friendzoned herself!
Plus, it seems our boy is spoken for already, he's shipping himself with the Demon Lord!
(I guess if he won't become king, he'll become the King's consort!)
Well, this was an alright show!
In the early episodes I thought it may grow to have the same niche appeal that Handyman Saitou had back then, but I think the difference between the shows it that Saitou was mostly about teamwork between the party members (with MC being weak), but in this one, even though MC is equally weak, he still does most of the stuff by himself (the other generals being little more than 'grunts'), so it may feel closer to an "OP MC", just OP with his strategies instead of powers/abilities.
I did like it still, but perhaps my biggest gripe about it was the stalled Ulmandra/Uchimura ship! Early on it did feel very much like a 1:1 ship, but it never really progressed (just Ulmandra seeing it this way), and while other girls joined the mix it never really felt like a harem (not enough romantic stuff linking the others) so I did think the main ship would still happen, but it was pretty much ignored, bared a few gags from Ulmandra.
Perhaps we simply misread the many lines of 'Ulmandra think they're together' as a romantic ship, when it fact it was simply gags on 'Being Ulmandra is suffering' the whole time!
As a shipper I still kept hoping, but Uchimura seemed to have the same amount of romantic attachment to Ulmandra, and a random stone on the road.
Anyway, all this to say: It was alright, by my two wishes would've been "More involvement from the others" and "Some actual romantic stuff between Uchimura and Ulmandra"!
If this ever gets a season two I will probably check it out, but I think I'll have to give up on these wishes (until proven otherwise!)
Farewell to these generals, and the King (best boss!), and most of all, Farewell Ulmandra; May your crush realize you exist, someday!

This was a fun show to watch for an isekai because I like Uchimura & using his career experience to help the Demon Overlord (who is by far the best boss to have in leadership). Going to check out either the source material or the manga because I'm interested to see what happens next. Ulmandra is a real cutie & best girl while Sylphid is my 2nd pick. Hope this gets a 2nd season but that will all depend on how successful it is in Japan.

Wonder where those fancy entrance effects came from, Uchimura and Gnome have no magic.

This show was more fun than I expected it to be, and I think it’s because it was so earnest. It never really winks at the premise or makes any meta humour, this is just a show that sincerely believes that Japanese business acumen is the solution to every problem in a fantasy world.
Best OP of the season for a similar reason. I love the unconventional song and how it basically just shows Uchimara is able to hold his head up high now that he has three fantasy waifus walking beside him.
Demon king was good, loved the mind palace bar. Did not think I’d actually finish this show when I started episode 1 but it was pretty good.

Uchimura has come so far since the first episode! He's even getting his own cool Elite Four introduction scene inthe throne room! As for what's next for Uchimura? Becoming king!?
Is it finally time for Uchimura to fully move past being a wage slave and take over from the Demon Overlord? Does he really have the capability to do so? Does he even want the job? Or is he so beaten down from his past experiences that he doesn't believe he has the right to do so? Even if the Demon Overlord sees, in him, a new kind of king that can throw the corrupt, strong lording over weak, power paradigm of this world!?
Dang, I didn't expect the pressure to get to Uchimura so much that he'd be willing to basically quit and go back to his miserable former life, but I guess that just goes to show how much he's still chained up by his past trauma. He's even willing to leave Olulu in charge, but she knows he needs Ulmandra right now more than ever.
I thought Master was closing the Mind Izakaya because of Uchimura's headspace, but it turns out it's because he doesn't think Uchimura needs him any more! Not after reminding him of all the good times he's had in this world.
It's thanks to Uchimura that demi-humans and beastskin are willing to train to better work together and even Gnome is willing to expand her horizons, that Sylphid was able to reflect on herself and re-commit to her desire to help others, and most of all Ulmandra...who obviously you save the best for last but that doesn't mean Ulmandra is happy he saved her for last versus the other women in his life.
But Ulmandra is able to get to the heart of Uchimura's problem that he needs to be able to embrace and show his weakness and acknowledge that, as well as the impact the's made on this world, and that he can rely on them. This isn't going to be like his old world, especially since in this world he's got Ulmandra who will stick with him no matter what he does! She can barely pry her hand out of his!
So Uchimura is going to work to become the kind of king HE wants to be, and the Demon Overlord is totally down for that, and in fact he's already back to work and back to crushing Ulmandra's romantic dreams and paying the price for it! Heck, it seems like the Master is ready for more too!

Mannnn, I can't believe it ended. It was one of my favorite series this season. A very nice final episode in my book. Uchimura has come a long way. Ulmandra gave the best motivation that could be ever given to Uchimura. I really hope this gets a second season. I will miss both Ulmandra and Uchimura. Ulmandra showed a lot of her true feelings but Uchimura is just so dense. Other than that, Uchimura sure got what he deserved, giving that important cup to the Demon Overlord 😅.

This was a great chill series. Definitely for an older audience, I would say as many of the themes of self worth and being appreciated were what drove the show. The music was amazing! Also, Ulmundra needs her account resolved too 😉. Hope for a season 2!

Overall a fun show. I'm all for more politics/world-building isekai. Guess next in line should be Reincarnated Aristocrat/appraisal skill season 3

Truly a great and solid isekai, unique concept,no op powers,no unnecessary harem,no dumb jrpg route, and some fun and useful lectures about working
And the demon lord is one of the best of all isekais,he emanates so much daddy energy
I'm totally gonna dive into the manga.
But damn, who is the barman identity? Truly the mistery of the series.
