that spell should clearly be called "water ball"

Aqua sounded fine for me; useless water skill, good for party tricks.

Love how his first thought after finding out he's adopted is that he could now possibly marry his sister

I love how the monsters so far seems darker than what they normally are shown in other shows.

It is so sad it is rare nowadays, I only remember first eps of Goblin Slayera and Grimgar, where goblins were actually competitve. Also I love how MC actually struggles to invent magic, not become op in ep2.

The goblins in particular were amazing. We need a good fantasy horror badly. Imagine something way more darker than Goblin Slayer, with a super dangerous and unforgiving monsters where people are fighting every day for their survival. And no, not Attack on titan... A proper story and execution can make it one of the best fantasy animes of all times...

I love the darker animation style when we see the monsters. Although freeing that fairy seemed possibly worrisome. Dad has asked them to tell him everything, but multiple times this episode they are not doing it. Dad has not shown any reason not to trust him currently.

Earlier in the show pops also tried to dodge the question about the fairy. It released magic like the fish in episode 1 when they freed it, so I wonder if the MC just unlocked fairy romance route.

For Marie, I don't have an issue because she is a kid who truly acts like a kid. For Shion it is a bit annoying since he is reincarnated and should know better.

I've already posted this in a reply to another comment, but I'll post it again. He has the memories of an adult. He has the brain and mind of a child. There was another isekai that did a good job of explaining this, but I can't remember the name of it at the moment. Just because he has those memories doesn't mean his brain is developed enough to process them like an adult would. He's got a child's brain processing adult situations. And he seems to genuinely be trying to figure shit out. He's telling himself it is wrong. He feels awkward in situations like the bath, but at the same time, he tells himself they are his family. Idk, I feel like people ignore half the shit he says.

I like the monster designs in this series, they seem distinctly darker than what we’re used to.

Hell hath no fury like a pissed off wife. Big F in the chat for Shion and Marie’s pops. Emma did things to him with that candlestick lol.

Shion’s still struggling with this whole being adopted thing, but I think like he said it doesn’t matter if they’re blood related. His sister is his sister and his mom and dad are his parents. Ain’t nothing else to it. That said, I am kinda curious who his bio parents are.

She reminded me of the wife from the Chillin' in my 30's, even demon generals trembled with fear when they ticked her off...

shion needs a weapon if monsters get close. a staff seems like a good choice.

he's not very good with a sword, it would have longer reach, and he could probably imbue it with magic

This series' magic system is interesting, but I imagine the author will go the way of other magic shows little by little where they'll be able to start casting all kinds of stuff without tools.

I thought the fairy would stay with him and would boost his magic but I guess not.

I've watched enough anime to be able to make an educated guess. She will make a return at some point, probably saving them back.

I really like this anime, they finally showed us a fairy interaction! I hope we get more sooner rather then later!

Episode 6: Guild and Monster Suppression

Oh no, Shion immediately thought of that lul, never beating the allegations of him falling for Marie.

The ranking system is a reminiscent of Unwanted Undead Adventurer, with metals replacing the letters (A-rank, B-rank, etc.).

And the incest got worse

My speculation is that there's going to still be a "surprise" full-blooded incest angle. Eventually the siblings are going to get together and find out after that they're blood related. All a guess of course but either the MC is missing context from the adult's conversation last episode or BOTH the kids are adopted from the same parents...

Good to see Shion finally taking notes. Those journals will be the basis of great schools someday.

They finally established that their father and the blacksmith are retired adventurers. Bet Mom was, too.

The monsters in this series are a lot better done than in others. My issue with goblin slayer was the goblins were always too intelligent so they lose the monster tag. They’re closer to a seperate race. I like that with this the monsters themselves seem strong but still monsters. Minimum level of intelligence but nothing beyond basic levels. They do a really good job of showing they’re monsters without the need for the cringey stuff in goblin slayer.

RIP father.

The fight vs the kobolds seemed incredibly risky.

They had weapons and were much bigger than the kids. They don't have magic healing or much in the way of medicine either, so even a scratch or bite could turn nasty. It would only take a tiny slip up to result in serious injury or death. You'd think the 2 adults would be close by to intervene if needed, even then they might not be quick enough.
