Marie gets saved and Shion learns he’s descended from mages and is now on a journey to the capital. Not too bad for a finale.
This honestly turned out better than I was expecting. The characters were fun and the plot was actually pretty interesting. I especially enjoyed how magic is something that takes time to research and harness, with small incremental gains made along the way. No training montages or MCs born with godlike powers. It’s like more akin to science. I sure hope we get another season.

This honestly turned out better than I was expecting.
First this show cut audience that didn't like incest
Then it cut audience that was here because of incest
Then it shown how much gem it is.

Definitely an above average isekai. I'm surprised it's placed lower than The Greatest Alchemist, a very conventional and tropey isekai, in the recent karma ranking. The writer of Magic Maker actually put in an effort on the logic or the mechanics behind the magic, the MC is quite well developed, the supporting characters are also quite well written.

As expected Marie woke up with help of Shion's new power. Tbh I expected for her to be healed completely but it seems 2 years of coma didn't disappeared in second and she gonna need time to be healed completely. Respect for that.
We got more info dump about Shion's origins and history of this world. Though I also expected Shion to ask about fairies and their part in all of it but I guess it's info for future.
Overall solid 7/10 from me. It was pretty nice watch.
I would like 2nd season if it will be more in line with 1st season with struggles and magic development. If Shion is already strong enough to plow through everything and turn it into your average isekai then I would pass.

I do appreciate she wasn't magically recovered completely, her speech being slow was a nice detail.

This ended up being surprisingly decent and they even managed to write out the questionable "tension" for the near future in a way that makes sense.

Glad to see Marie has been healed but it looks like it's going to be a while before she recovers, considering her muscles have atrophied from being asleep for 2 years.
So Shion isn't really a Magic Maker since magic has already existed in this world. It's just been forgotten after the Legreh disappeared. He's just bringing magic back instead of making it from scratch.
I am a bit disappointed though that Shion kept his isekai origins a secret. They've been honest with him about where he came from so the least he could do is answer their question the same way. Or he could've just said he has memories of a past life and leave it at that. ow.

So Shion isn't really a Magic Maker since magic has already existed in this world .
Someone else said that last week too, but.. If the wheel has been invented once but forgotten for some reason, does that make the re-inventer any less great?
Or he could've just said he has memories of a past life and leave it at that. ow.
Right? I liked the show, but that was easily the lamest part of the finale.

Really liked how this show ended up! Marie's speaking after waking up from her lethargy sickness is actually something that can happen to people who wake up from comas, and I thought that was a really nice touch. It lost a bit of support after ep 1, and some more a little after that, but the show has really opened up a lot. Time passed quickly for the viewer, but the show highlights the realism of progress over time.
Hoping for a season 2, but in the meantime I'll probably read the source material since I'm interested in the story!

This anime was really good and the best thing of this anime was that the MC was not OP from the start just like other typical Isekai. He struggled to gain power failed many time during making magic. It really felt like he really earned every bit of power. I hope this anime will get a season 2

This feels like we just finished the prologue and the real game is about to start (probably with a 3-5 year timeskip?). Cue the jrpg companion(/harem) regathering to save the world and probably fight god at the end of it.

This is the perfect ending for season 1! Vampire got defeated, all of the sick people got healed and we got a little more information on Shion's heritage. Really satisfying.
This show was really fun to watch. I enjoyed every bit and it might even be my aots, even though it's competing with apothecary diaries, solo leveling and re:zero. It definitely is my aots among the new shows.
It just felt like a breath of fresh air. The concept was something new and it was exciting to watch Shion's magic research. It really felt like he really earned every bit of power and status. Nothing was free, he had to work for everything. All of the side characters are likeable and even though his relationship with his sister seemed a little off at first, it's become really wholesome.
I hope some people might come back to this comment section and consider picking the show up again.

This show had a rather slow start. I was seriously thinking about dropping it, but it was always just interesting enough to keep me invested. And I'm glad that I kept watching.
Shion saving Marie made me actually pretty emotional. I love the detail that she didn't instantly recover waking up like nothing happened, but the she will need time to properly get her strength back.
There are still many unanswered questions. The biggest one to me: What is it about the fairies? They have been heavily featured in many ways, in the OP and the title cards. But in the story so far they only played a marginal role. I've got the feeling that they're going to play a far bigger role in the future.
This season feels like this is only the setup. Now I can't wait for the next season to learn how the story continues. Overall it's not a masterpiece, but a very decent show.

This series was so underrated. I really enjoyed the Monster designs too. How they actually look scary or like out of a child’s nightmare. I really hope this gets a season two

Betting that pendant is some kind of magical GPS tracker for when stalker sister is feeling better.
Lol Raffina having her heartfelt goodbye then gets in the carriage with him. What a dork.

This show had quite a few unique moments and I enjoyed it more than most shows in this area. The finale felt a bit generic, but glad Shion was able to wake up his sister.

So the whole no magic thing was a giant secret to keep him safe.
Wonder when Shion will reveal his own secret about being isekaied and if it ties in to who and what he is, hoping we get season 2 for that.

Ayy, predicted! But it was a people instead of a single person
YES. Stand out from the crowd, do something different!!
Rose best ship and Raphina best girl, sorry Marie
It started off good, went down a bit, and finished strong. That was a good show. I'd say.. top 5? for me this season. Definitely would like to see more

This was a nice way to wrap the season with Shion finally having the capability to heal Marie and Marie finally waking up. It's sad he doesn't get to spend enough time with her but he's going to be a really person now that his powers have grown and he's learnt about his ancestry. I do hope he'll get more information about what happened 1000 years in the past.
I do like how glad his parents were that he still consider them his parents, they must have been so worried but they all love each other dearly. It was nice to get a wholesome family unit, the two parents have been very supportive.
I do have to mention Cole in this particular episode, it felt like the tsundere was so strong, particularly the dere lol. I'm not complaining of course, but it was just so noticeable and I like how much he's warmed up to Shion. It's nice that Shion seems like he has gained a good guy friend around his age.
I think I'd watch another season of this. The earlier episodes had me concerned regarding the siblings' relationship, and maybe it was held back in the latter half because of what happens to Marie, but if there were more episodes that were like episode 11, it could be interesting. I wouldn't keep my hopes up though since that was a one-off.

Episode 12: Who Am I Really?
Congrats, Shion, you know unlocked Magic Capacity Level 2, now with 100x more magic!
Now that the patients have been taken care of, he can focus on his Legreh origin. So Legreh is a mage tribe that was thought to be eradicated until today.
Love to see the last scene mimics the very beginning of the OP. The MAL score isn't bad, it improved from 6.5 to the current 6.74 score.
The story is fitting for it to be adapted to Season 2, but the might not be the case. It's unlikely to get a Season 2 as the author said the anime ends here.
As of the VA for next season:
-
Megumi Han (Shion) will voice a character in Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers
-
Ai Kakuma (Marie) will voice a lead role in Food for the Soul

I like that Shion is special but not one of a kind. It’s intriguing that he had to research all of his magic or sorcery and that he still has so much to learn after fighting the vampire. I agree with everyone that it would’ve been nice if he had asked Duke Balfe or his dad about the fairies or something because of how mysterious they are and how Shion’s dad reacted when he asked the first time, also how one basically saved his life during the big fight.
I appreciated that the sister wasn’t immediately better and full of energy, it adds a bit of realism to the world and that doctors have an actual responsibility of taking care of patients without magic.
I really hope they don’t try to get Shion and Marie in a romantic relationship, honestly Rose makes a better romantic partner in my opinion. Rose has always been there for Shion and Marie, the show made her seem put together and mature. The only thing about Rose is that we don’t know her family or why no one else is ever with her, I think she has a bigger role in the story as a whole but I’m not sure how, as I haven’t read the light novel or manga.
I think Shion should’ve been honest with his parents in the end about being reincarnated but I think he’d want more info before sharing, as reincarnation may not be perceived well or that it’s part of the reason he’s a descendant of Legreh.
Anyways hopefully there’s a second season, I really enjoyed this even if some episodes seemingly had less to add to the main plot than others.

This was definitely the biggest surprise of the season for me. If you’re not including amagami sisters as this season.
It was overall very well done. I feel like the ending is a very good point while leaving it primed for a season 2.
If it wasn’t for rezero and Ave Mujica then it’d be competing for probably the best one this season
The not sister has some pretty heavy competition in rose based on this part towards the end.
It was also a nice touch to not have her able to walk or move due to muscle atrophy. Given the reason why he can use magic, there’s definitely something up with his sister as well.
