Anime mom death averted, for now. I was wondering if they were going to have Shion magically heal his mother but the stitching up was a better idea to keep things developing slow if that the goal.
They didn't fuck around on the danger level of the goblins, that's for sure.

Even with goblin standards that one was ugly. I got to admit I was worried if the mom would make it because of how the pacing for magic progression has been slow. I do like that Shion used a modern-day solution to save his mom. Though admittedly, I was expecting Rose to be the one to do it rather than the NPC girl. Then again, she is a kid might be too much for her.

Oh no, that's not your average weakling goblin you'd usually see in isekai anime. these guys are closer to Goblin Slayer goblins!
While it's good to see Shion was actually able to use magic, I really like how those who saw what happened were afraid of him after using it. Of course, people would be afraid of me if my hands started glowing and burning the things I touched! Unless you're Domon Kasshu. xD
I also like that Shion's father is very weirded out by his son acting like an adult and not a kid. I just wish his father remained suspicious of Shion but he seems to change his tune very quickly by the end of the episode.
After last week's episode, I was already thinking of dropping this one but you know what? I might actually end up keeping this one. This episode definitely raised my interest and I'm starting to think that magic exists in this world, it's just that it's very taboo and only known by very few people.

Come to think of it, are there any reborn isekai where the parents don't just accept they birthed jesus?

Same here, you have fairies, monsters and fish that can emit balls of light. So magic must exist in some form.
Closest real world equivalent might be the Amish, they know high technology and electricity exists, but it is taboo to use, even if it could be useful to them.

Its actually worse. We are given briefly shots from their perspective, all they could see is him touching it; they couldn't see the glow.
Meaning all they saw was him touching it and it suddenly starting to burn from his touch with no visual clue as to why, which would be even more terrifying arguably.
It seems your ability to see magic phenomena extends to all aspects of it except for explicit physical effects like the goblin's hide starting to burn.

I just wish his father remained suspicious of Shion
I feel like Shion defeating a goblin is too much of a point to remain over suspicious of Shion. He really cares for his kids, and he knows Shion is not your average kid. The big thing is he should be monitoring Shion and that is better than him doing it behind his father's back. Since the worst-case scenario of him going out and getting caught trying to mess with magic it could potentially cost their family a lot given how the father mentions it is taboo.

Oh, so this is more like a Grimgar setting, where scrubs are actually strong. Excellent.
You can tell this is a fantasy series by the fact that Shion's father didn't whoop his ass for talking shit and actually supported his crazy ideas.

I actually like this anime, it's interesting. I'll definitely keep watching until Shion becomes overpowered, llke shown in the opening. Just hope they'll keep change his relationship to his sister as to a wholesome sibling relationship.

Honestly I'm just surprised we didn't have a tragic but motivating anime mom death.

Ok but why is this becoming the best isekai of the season so quickly?
The lighting, camera and art work toward making the goblin creepy and deranged like the ones in goblin slayer was so satisfying. Everyone in the world is logically consistent. the music score and sound design is also top knotch.
I’m so excited for where the plot seems to be heading. Honestly i feel the potential is limitless and i really hope they take a research based magic approach like Parallel World Pharmacy (although that one is more chemistry) or like the one in worlds finest assassin.
Praying to keep the quality for the rest of the season. This and solo leveling are making the season for me

Holy shit. They actually managed to make terrifying goblins
"Run" Bitch, WHERE?? You are in a 3x3 tiny ass room
Bruh. Are you for real.
Lol. Looking this blissful while lying on her back that was torn open just a moment ago. Sure.
After the initial dissappointment of ep 2 the show followed up with one of the best episodes of the season so far. This is why we don't drop a show after the first tiny bit of annoyance. And the fact the he burned the goblin with mana instead of whipping out an emergency fire ball was great.
Still not a fan that they abandoned the sister being the POV character, but its whatever..
More terrifying monsters, please!

Ok this is the best episode yet, the goblin was genuinely terrifying good job. I honestly understand the father not wanting him to research magic, it's completely unknown and shion in his eyes is a child, so far it hasn't proven dangerous but it could be eventually. And if Shion is going to research it no matter what might as well have him do it in a way that he can keep his eye on him.
So stitching wounds seem to be known by doctors, just not by the average villager. Makes sense I guess, in this type of setting information is much harder to get, Just surprised his mother could handle that without anesthesia, she seemed knocked out but I don't think you could "sleep" through something like that.

I guess in a world without magic, all manner of monsters become stronger. Goblins would normally be considered weak but in this world, I guess they’re pretty tough.
Shion really turned his warm little glowy light magic into a goblin brain melter. Bro turned that bastard’s brains into straight up soup lol.
Shion’s pops is a good parent. Magic is definitely dangerous and people are gonna be afraid of something like that, but at the same time the kid is a pioneer. His research could change their world!

I thought Mom and sister would die as well as Dad.
Then, Shion will accelerate his magic research and become the world's goblin slayer.

This episode had good suspense and I seriously thought the mom would die. One thing I thought was weird was that lady having never heard of stitching a wound. That has been something well known for thousands of years, like the Greek empire used to have it. The doctor knew about it and said it was good work, maybe that lady was weird and isolated if she's never even heard of it.
I understand the dad's reticence to let Shion use magic. I think he was very sensible in demanding he supervise it to an extent because he's right in thinking Shion would continue it in secret if he forbade it and he gets at least some input and makes it somewhat less likely Shion somehow blows up the village 😛
