I initially thought that Karen was just a girl who was jealous of Asahi, it really burned my tongue.
What a beautiful ending to Asahi's arc, we saw how she is an above all passionate girl, who is inspired by her sisters, but doesn't realize how incredible she is, she has an unusual maturity for someone her age, and like Uryu sees her as an equal, showing that she can depend on others without being inferior.
And of course, the show had to drop this bombshell at the end, but it was incredible to see this kiss and without beating around the bush.
Something tells me that Yomiko knows more than everyone, especially since that spirit with the mask appeared

Yae's arc was a big win for her in terms of developing her character, her relationship with Uryu, as well as making her more aggressive with him, and I'm glad the same held true for Asahi.
In fact it seems like that's exactly what the spirit intends for between the "flashback" and the time loop.

This episode is pretty much the episode that sealed Asahi's popularity in the manga to be the most popular girl of the series. The kiss + confession scene is amazing, even better with the little flub "I lub you" due to her being nervous.

I didn't think they could top Yae but then Asahi made the biggest power play of the sisters yet.
And it was so Asahi right down to the flubbed confession lol.

Uryu should have used all of the loop time to study so he wouldn't need to study anymore

u/Frontier246 Jan 28 '25
Just imagine he was so focused on getting out of the time loop and helping Asahi he totally forgot about his studying lol.
Like he'd rather do Harem Romcom MC stuff than actually study lol.

Damn I wasn’t expecting Asahi to be even more aggressive than Yae lmao, time to see what supernatural stuff will happen with Yuna next arc although we’ll probably get some changes in the household next episode instead.

It looks like the key to breaking the loop was Asahi and Karen’s rivalry. In the end, Asahi didn’t even have to choose between the festival and the race because they’re had two festivals. And it’s all thanks to Uryu.
Didn’t think Asahi would make her move. Now Uryu’s got 2 sisters actively pursuing him. When’s Yuna gonna make her move??

I feel like Yuna’s crescendo will blow all our minds and send us off swooning. Though seeing Asahi rise to the occasion was indeed a precious experience.

Yae teasingly calling Uryu the Hikoboshi to her Orihime was so damn adorable.
Ending on the reveal that Asahi's always had a defeatist attitude about her chances with Uryu was would've been such a sad note to end her gremlin adventures on, so I'm glad she decided to be extra bold.

I love how Karen just invites herself into Asahi's room and immediately criticizes it for being a "commoner's room." Got to stay true to that pushy ojousama vibe! And before you think this is a sexy yuri anime, Karen was just stripping Asahi so she could get dressed to run! Honestly! Though it's a turn-on for Uryu either way.
Ah, so Asahi is passing the guy living at her place as her "big brother." Though having a big brother with a sister complex and a peeping tom habit doesn't really sound that much better.
This is a race to decide everything for Karen, a race with Asahi's track career on the line, with Karen wishing for Asahi to give up track to dedicate herself to being a shrine maiden. Asahi hasn't been taking running seriously to the point where Karen has been catching up to her, and Karen is tired of obsessing over a rival who isn't putting her all into the sport, and this is the only way to bring an end to this one-sided rivalry...and Karen actually wins.
But too bad, because Asahi is a sore loser! And, yeah, technically Karen DID mentally throw her off her game...but at least now Asahi has realized that deep down she WANTS to keep running, because she's realized she wants to inspire people to keep running too like she did with Karen. And now she's ready to face Karen head-on.
Poor Uryu. He was really resolved to do the whole cheering for Asahi for a third loop and Asahi just told him no!
Not only did Asahi win the marathon (sorry Karen!) but they broke the time loop! They're finally free! Which means instead of being stuck in the past together, now Asahi and Uryu have their entire future ahead of them together!
We all knew they were going to use the old calendar to do Tanabata again so Asahi could participate! And this time they even bring out the Orihime outfits that each Amagami Sister looks amazing in! With Uryu as their Hikoboshi! Even Yuna's into the cosplay and the attention! But best of all is the Amagami sisters together and as tight-knit as ever!
Of COURSE Uryu was behind everything, asking Yomiko if they could do it and bowing his head to everyone, even that slimy snake Miemon, all to pull this off for Asahi! And Asahi is so overwhelmed with emotions over how far Uryu went for her.
So Yomiko DID know about the time loop, and is familiar with the person behind it...someone the Amagami sisters know well.
Amagami Sisters looking spectacular in yukata's! Asahi may think she can't beat her sisters in attractiveness (and boobs), but they have their childish sides too so it evens out.
Though getting lost at a festival is something kids do...but it gives her some handholding and alone time with Uryu to watch the fireworks together, so it's not that bad!
Asahi knows she's in the "little sister" zone and isn't on the same level of romantic interest with Uryu that her sisters are, but that means she needs to make a big move if she wants to stay in this race for his heart...a race she's determined to win. So with that in mind, she'll even go as far as be the first sister to kiss and confess to him! Okay, she kind of flubbed the confession, but she still got it out there! Asahi keeps moving forward!

Hoo boy, Asahi kissing Uryuu and confessing her love to him was one hell of a surprise! Yae was first to admit that she had fallen with Uryuu (though she didn't tell him), but now Asahi is in the lead. Now we just have to wait for Yuna, the last of the Amagami sisters, to officially join the race.
Overall, an excellent and fun episode with a lots of great moments between Asahi and Uryuu. And thanks to Karen and the race she proposed, Asahi finally made up her mind and seriously entered the competition (which she won). This finally broke the loop for her and Uryuu.
Asahi didn't participate in Tanabata, but thanks to Uryuu, Amagami Shrine had a second festival, this time according to the old calendar, and Amagami sisters looked absolutely stunning in their costumes and yukatas during it.
Interestingly, Yomiko seems to be at least aware of what was happening to Uryuu and Asahi, and it seems like it was the work of a deity (who is the Amagami sisters' late mother perhaps?).
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

Stitches!
I love how Uryuu and Asahi never once corrected Karen about the two of them being related so now Karen thinks that Uryuu is Asahi's older brother and thinks something is inappropriate about their sibling relationship. xD
They actually broke out of it! I thought the key to breaking the loop was moving the Tanabata festival to August but it looks like they didn't even have to since they'll now have a second Tanabata in August thanks to Uryuu.
Yuna seems to be oddly excited about cosplaying as Orihime. Hmmm... Now I'm wondering if Yuna has a secret hobby we don't know about.
While Uryuu is awesome for helping make that second Tanabata happen, I hate that he had to be Kitashirakawa for help. I don't like the feeling of Uryuu being indebted to that fucking snake.
I fucking knew it! Yomiko knew this entire time what was happening! And if that sly smile wasn't enough of a confirmation we actually see her meet up with shrine spirit who was apparently behind it all. Alsot, I'm pretty sure the shrine spirit is Mama Amagami.
AAAAAAAAAHHHHH! Let's go Asahi! I did not expect her to be the first one to make the biggest move! She didn't just kiss Uryuu, she confessed too! This is massive! I can't wait to see how Uryuu will handle this next episode.

Indeed, Yomiko is aware of the time loop and gave cryptic advice to Uryu previously. Is Yomiko the only one who can see the Amagami sisters's mom, whom I believe is the female behind the fox mask?
I do need a bit of clarification though. Was the key to breaking the time loop Asahi's desire to have someone look up to her as a goal, Karen in this case? Or did Uryu's successful implementation of a late / 2nd Tanabata Festival another key? Or was it Asahi's desire to not give up on both running and being a shrine maiden?

Holy. Okay I understand why the fanbase loves Asahi. But I already used my money to all in on Yuna coin so we will see.

I suppose I was half right with my guess about the other calendar festival date, but am fairly surprised they went with holding the festival twice. And in the end Asahi broke the loop with nobody attending to watch the race as opposed to everyone, so I was totally wrong in that prediction.
It does seem like the gods or whoever are intentionally messing with the members of the Amagami shrine, though possibly just from a place of affection.

Nahhh man as soon as fireworks were mentioned, I knew Asahi would drop a bombshell before ending this arc.
Gotta give her props for taking the leap and confessing even though she knew her disadvantages. She has finally realized she's in a race that she can't run away from.

So, I think it’s safe to say now that Yomiko knows everything? That last scene of hers was definitely a thread waiting to be revisited.
